Single Axle Caravan - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)Jun 2025

Great camp site for kids of all ages and adults. The only thing I will say is I wish there was a bank machine there but that is minor for what the staff actually do. Very polite and well mannered staff and great DJ for the kids parties. Highly recommend and 100% will return.

A nice stay

Motorhome - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)May 2025

We were a family group of 3 staying for 2 nights in our Motorhome at the end of May 25 during the school holidays. The check in process was straightforward and the staff were friendly. We were on a large pitch with electric (purple 07). I think we had the quieter spot on the campsite. We were travelling with our three dogs and were pleased there was a dog walking path. We did however spend a lot of time trying to dodge the dog mess along the path (not the campsite's fault I know). We used the shop and it was pretty well stocked up, alongside convenient opening times. We did not use the toilet /shower block until our last few hours. Everything appeared clean and functional. Whilst we enjoyed our 2 night break, we probably won't stay here again, especially during the school holidays as it was a little too busy for us.

Large safe site

Motorhome - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeMay 2025

The lady who ran the swimming area and later seen in the bar serving and doing children's entertainment, was in my experience, an amazing woman. I got talking to her and she had been there donkeys years and still as enthusiastic, I felt. The site is huge and constant staff patrolling the site was excellent and as a retired copper I felt very safe and enjoyed my time with my grandchildren aged 8&6. Yes, the toilet blocks are tired, but clean to say the least and has the right facilities covering such a large site . Well done to everyone involved .

Lovely, clean, functional and well run campsite!

Medium Tent - Small Non Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field, Unit A) Pet FreeMay 2025

As a first time camper, I was apprehensive but also excited to share the experience with my 2 kids (ages 11 & 5). My husband has been camping in the past (in childhood) so, it was a new family experience for all of us. We live 1.5 hrs away, but found the last 10 minutes a bit tricky as the sat-nav sent us on a detour, but we got there on the end. Upon arrival, we checked in at reception, received our welcome booklet. A few bits of info and had a ranger escorted us to our pitch. The next few days were nice. It was busy as it was bank holiday weekend but not so crammed you can't cope. We were at the top, so getting to the shower and toilet blocks meant a 3-5 mins walk. The weather was unsettled, so had to navigate strong winds and rain. The play park was a nice touch as it gave my little ones an area to burn some energy. Shower cubicles were spacious, water was warm and powerful. Toilets were relatively clean on most parts. We didn't try the onsite café but that option was available. We popped into the tribute act on Saturday night. The hall was buzzing. Reasonable entertainment for people who like that kind of stuff. Light refreshments were open sale and kids would buy sweets and toys from the £1/£2 vending machines. Something for everyone. We stayed in a dog free area, so didn't encounter any, which is great! We tried the outdoor swimming pool but the water was rather cold and it also began to rain, so we left early. We didn't actually use the on site shops but ventured out to the Co-op supermarket a few miles away and found that we can get everything we need there, so will do our food shopping there next time and pack less to take from home. All in all, it felt life we had a budget holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We are planning to visit again in August as my kids were happy there, and so was I.

Staff was friendly and helpful

Medium Tent - Small Non Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field, Unit A) Pet FreeMay 2025

Nicely located parks. We came with a 14, 8 and 16 month old and there was enough to keep them all amused. We were a little sad the pool wasn't open but there is a public swimming pool in the next town over that everyone enjoyed. Facilities were clean and staff friendly. The shop had most essentials and the prices were standard. Large, well laid pitches. We will definitely come back.

Medium Tent - XL Non Electric Grass Pitches (Tent Field, Unit A plus*)Apr 2025

Booked at same time as friends, emailed to request a pitch next to other, did not even get a response. Arrived and was told we were separated, even though they had an empty pitch next to them and that was just the beginning of a terrible stay. Women on the gate were lovely and really tried to accommodate us and our request for pitching together, manager not so much. Told we had to pitch our tent facing outward due to health and safety as that they need to be able to look and check our tents when they wanted. I have lived on military camps that were less militant than this place. My issue with request was a safeguarding one and was not happy with people looking in my tent where my teenage daughter was. Unsure what the health and safety risk was as it was not indicated to us, just barked at us. We were allowed to keep it the way we had pitched as he said it was that busy. Thankfully, otherwise we would have been staring straight into our across grass neighbours, which none of us wanted. We would have been the only ones on whole pitch to be positioned like this as no one else's faced each other. The warden was extremely rude about it, particularly as he was shouting at my husband and told us if we didn't like it, we should just pack up and leave. If it had just been us, we would have left there and then, but we were meeting out friends who were, coincidentally, had also been told they needed to park their van a certain way and had to have their door open out on the main footpath so everyone could see them getting out of their tent box as they walked by. Our pitch when we arrived was covered in dog faeces - had to go and do a full perimeter scan before we pitched to ensure it was cleaned up and we weren't placing our tent on someone else dog mess. The noise was a joke as well - whilst I love a party myself and want to have a good time, it's about general respect for others, which there was a distinct lack of, even after the wardens told them to turn it in. There were kids screaming, music blaring and generally drunkenness - which was a bit much when people were trying to sleep particularly those with younger children. Bathroom sinks were filthy with mud, bathroom windows all smashed in and only 3 working showers in the men block. Our entire party left early as 2 nights was enough could not cope with a 3rd. Avoid unless you want to be spoken to like a child and don't value a good night's sleep! Price paid for a standard non electric pitch for 3 nights was more than we normally pay for an electric pitch. Definitely not worth the money!

Motorhome - Fully Serviced Gravel and Grass Super Pitches (Red Area, Unit C)Apr 2025

Spotless, loads of staff about to help, good pitches, large hard standing. Shown to pitch by warden, cannot fault it. Lovely, hot showers. Quiet, 2 bars. If anything, could do with a better take away, maybe hot dogs, burgers, chips, etc. Overall, will definitely be back.

A fantastic for kids

Motorhome - Fully Serviced Gravel and Grass Super Pitches (Red Area, Unit C)Feb 2025

A fantastic stay, the kids club was great. There was lots to do for the kids even during this cold half term. The only negative for us was that the shower blocks were too cold for us. We will be back when it's warmer, looking forward to using the pool.

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeSep 2024

Our recent stay at Lower Lacon was a fantastic experience for the whole family. The pitch sizes were great, providing ample space to set up comfortably, and we were fortunate to have an orange pitch located close to the kids' park, which was super convenient. The park itself was well-maintained, offering plenty of entertainment for the children, and they especially loved visiting the animals on-site. The entertainment and club facilities were also impressive, offering a good range of activities to keep both kids and adults entertained during the stay. We appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere, and while we enjoyed the no-dogs policy in our section, we noticed that there's plenty of space for those who want to bring along their furry companions. The staff were another highlight of our stay. The friendly team at reception made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and they were quick to help us navigate to our pitch. We were especially grateful when they helped us out after we realised we'd forgotten our mallet! There's also a handy on-site shop stocked with essentials, which made our stay even more convenient. All in all, Lower Lacon was a great camping site for families, and we'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly, well-equipped site with good entertainment options.

VW-Type Campervan - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)Sep 2024

Huge site with ehu, 2 pubs, cafe, toilet blocks, swimming pool, 2 kids playgrounds and a great shop that sells everything, including gas. Very friendly staff, great for kids and dogs. There is a dog walk and small enclosure for off lead play, very overgrown that bit, so ball playing was out the question. Despite the amount of campers, it was quiet of an evening after 10pm. Dogs not allowed in pubs, but can sit outside. Will book again for sure, there is a private dog park 13 min drive away, which can be booked online which we found on last day. My only gripe was lights in shower are on a timer and go off too soon.

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeAug 2024

Had a fantastic time. Staff friendly and helpful. Shop prices reasonable. Swim session was very well organized. Lovely site and park, great for kids. Only things that let it down was the amount of spiders in the toilet and shower block, and the pool water was a bit murky. Would definitely go again though.

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Orange Field, Unit G wide) Pet FreeAug 2024

Large site with good, large pitches, but if you're looking for peace and quiet, this isn't the site for you. The cleanliness of the toilets and showers leave a lot to be desired. The toilets for the furthest pitches are portacabins and showers are powerful, but don't seem to have been cleaned properly for quite a while. Dead insects on walls and ceiling. A timed button that you have to press every minute, making washing hair and body a constant juggle of holding toiletries and pressing the button. Although, I understand why it's on a timer, it is a pain, especially if you are trying to shower children. The whole site itself looks a bit tired and could do with a bit of a revamp. Security are constantly patrolling in golf carts, although the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and they do have a well stocked shop. Although there is a pool there, you have to call a mobile to book usage, we called several times and were never answered which was disappointing. I do feel if you have to book, a better system should be implemented to avoid not being able to get use the pool. You are directed how to pitch your tent and park your vehicle. The site is great for kids, with a decent play park and space for them to ride bikes and have a kick about. Overall, if you have kids it's fine for a few days away, or if you're just using it for a base to visit the beautiful Shropshire area as is is quite centrally located for Shrewsbury area. Overall, it was okay but would only visit again if we were taking our grandchildren.

Medium Tent - Large Electric Grass Pitches (Purple Field, Unit G long)Aug 2024

Great site, lots to do for kids. Swimming golf, ball games area. Play areas for mixed ages and disco/games of a night. Well-stocked shop. Options for takeaway food. Warden's helpful. Great location for nearby pubs, Shrewsbury and days out like Bewilderwood, Alderford lake 10 minutes away with all facilities for self launch, swimming and water sports activities and hire. Our second time at the site and our friends loved it. 8 adults and 4 kids.

Nice, friendly, cheap getaway

Nice campsite. All we needed for a short family break. Great pool and refreshments, the pizzas were lovely. Friendly staff and generally nice site. The showers had a bit of a dirty feel, just needed some bleach above eye level. Toilet and sinks were immaculate. Otherwise, ok 👍

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Gravel and Grass Super Pitches (Red Area, Unit C)Aug 2024

The campsite itself was well managed and facilities were good, but we found that the toilet and shower blocks needed updating. Plenty for kids to do with the swimming pool and play area, as well as evening entertainment.
