Basic but has everything you need

Excellent site, quiet and very basic, but had exactly what we needed and wanted out of our stay. Our only criticism is that we arrived late and all the level pitches were taken. Only three showers and three toilets, but we never had to wait to use one! Freezer and fridge available to use as well as a washing machine.

A lovely little campsite! Clean and well maintained.

Good site

A nice and remote site with lots of space and walking routes around. There were some loud tractor noises in the morning when we stayed but it is a working farm so that's to be expected and it didn't disturb us. The facilities were clean and well maintained. I didn't get any signal on the site but my partner on Vodafone did, so was nice to disconnect without being completely cut off. Very quiet and chilled out on a night time.

Family camping trip

Loved this very rural site… brilliant location and adequate facilities. The only thing I didn’t like was they only provide mixed toilet and shower blocks. I don’t like mixed as I hate having to take our 7 year old granddaughter into toilets/showers men have been in. I also don’t like this for myself. I don’t think it is acceptable.

Beautiful spot to stay!

Beautiful site for a great value

Lovely site in a beautiful location, quiet area but has easy access to nearby towns like Ulverston. Basic but functional utilities (has fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer at £5 per use), and as we were staying in a tent, we especially found the washing up area to be a nice and helpful addition. Only complaints would be it was somewhat hard to get in touch with the site owner when needed, considering the lack of phone signal — an alternative line of communication could definitely have been helpful as we were a little confused about a couple of things upon arrival, and water pressure can be very low at times in showers when multiple people are using the bathroom at one time. Overall, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing stay in a lovely rural location!

We really enjoyed staying at Birchbank campsite. Great surrounding away from crowds. Fantastic sceneries and clean facilities. Highly recommended.

Top stay

Really friendly staff. Beautiful location in Ulverston (barely anything away from old man of Coniston). Basic yet exceptionally well maintained facilities. Would highly recommend.

Nice well kept site. Facilities basic but always nice and clean. Well worth the stay for visiting surrounding area.

Absolutely stunning place to stay. The host was friendly and helpful. The facilities were cleaner than anywhere I have been including where I work. I can not recommend this campsite enough. And the drive there was idyllic.

Fabulous little site

Fab 👌 site. Host was really nice, facilities are great - even a large fridge washer an dryer if needed. Peaceful, everything you need and more.

Lovely location, all you need

Good old camping, with little touches which made it even better. Pick your own pitch in the non-electric area. On a working farm so busy but nothing noticeable. Surrounded by hills and sheep. Site owner lovely and friendly and answered questions we had about happenings on the farm. Toilets clean, good showers and washing up room. Added bonus, washing machine and dryer with honesty box and there was a fridge and freezer for all to use. Brilliant, thank you

Facilities were clean. Everything there that you needed in an incredible location. Friendly welcome. We will be back!

An idyllic spot on the south edge of the Lake District

A lovely site, well looked after, with clean toileting facilities, pleasant camping spaces, and friendly welcome. Could benefit from additional toilets when the site is busy, and the lack of phone reception or WIFI facilities will deter some and attract others!

Birchbank for 1 night only

We only arrived at 5pm due to delays and stress, but as you come over the hills and drop down the drive to the camp, nothing else matters. Great little place hidden away with nothing but rolling hills around it. Everyone was very friendly and the facilities give you everything needed. As we arrived, several children were playing in the stream and despite the cold, they looked to be having a great time. Plenty of pleasant people enjoying a little break at this site. It was a shame to pack up so early and carry on as there was a lot to explore. We will definitely head back next time we are in the area for another night.

Fantastic Site

Fantastic small site with basic but well maintained facilities. Very rural location but safe for kids to explore fairly freely.

First roof tent trip

Lovely site with even better hosts. Cannot recommend staying here enough, especially if you like nice walks and gorgeous scenery!
