An absolute pearl hidden away in the Lakes

If you want a real escape from the world, then this is it. This was our first trip out in the Ebay campervan, so were looking for a nice spot to get "into it". This is an amazing little retreat with the most stunning views. It has limited spots which makes the feel of it all even better. Park up, set yourself up and boom - gorgeous views of Scafell Pike, the Lakes and the estuary on your doorstep. It doesn't have shower facilities but if I'm honest, you don't miss them and It has quite frankly, the best portaloos I've ever witnessed. A beach is 5 mins walk away and is clean, safe and again, very quiet. Take the advice of Louise (the owner) and head to the Devon pub up the road. It's a 10 min walk but is super friendly and has some good ales on tap. A few minutes more and you'll be in Millom town centre. There's Tesco and a few eateries (Chinese, Indian and Italian) so if you don't fancy cooking then you won't starve. All in all, this is a gem. A little gold spot and Louise cannot do enough to help. Give this place a go and plan it into your Lakes tour. You won't regret it.

Beautiful setting, warm welcome, excellent value

What a setting! If you are looking for a quite stay surrounded by stunning scenery this is the place! Great location for exploring this side of Cumbria. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by the hosts, very friendly and informative. While the facilities are just toilets they are without doubt the most impressive portaloo we've ever seen and extremely clean. If we are in this area again we would 100% book another stay.

Best kept secret paradise

Absolutely stunning location and site, peace and tranquility in abundance, we will definitely be back. The facilities are so clean, only reason for 4 stars is there being no shower but I don’t think we would leave of there was 😆 thanks so much for creating such a lovely site for people to enjoy ☺️

Perfect stay over with great views and a pleasant beach

We enjoyed our stay, simple, quiet and a very clean. With great mountain views and a pleasant beach within walking distance, definitely worth a try for a night or two. 😎

Fantastic stay with excellent hospitality

Had a fantastic stay at this campervan site! Louise, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The site was spotless, peaceful, and perfectly located. Highly recommend and will definitely return!

Fantastic for dogs

Fantastic location and a short walk along the coast path to the beach. Site was secure and all facilities were immaculately clean. Louise was very attentive and welcoming. Being picky, the only thing that would improve the site would be electric hook up but we survived the night without it! Would happily recommend the site.

Amazing few days

This is an amazing site to stop. Louise is an excellent host and goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The site was perfect for us and the amenities are excellent and clean. Right next to the beach and some lovely walks, I highly recommend.

Exceptional

This is a hidden gem of a place. Unbelievably peaceful and tranquil. Some photos gave me the impression that it was just an old junk yard that you can camp on, but nothing could be further from the truth when you get there. The views are stunning and when the tide goes out the empty estuary is just so interesting to look at. At the end of the site is a walk down to a beach with sand that has just been taken off a desert island. Only gave 4 stars for facilities as there is no hook-up and showers, which didn't bother us, but some people might not like that. The toilets were amazingly clean, as was the site.

3 night stay

Stop for 3 nights. Louise and Lee were brilliant, friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the local area. Fantastic place, stunning views, good walking and bird watching 😊

Nice and quite environment

The location is very spacious, I drove a Tesla but each pitch is large enough to park at least 2 RVs with much margin. It is east-facing, so the sun rising above the mountains was glorious. Toilets were clean, water taps, dustbins and waste disposal for RVs were all well sorted. Took a bit of a drive to get there but the driving was a fun experience too.

Great site with great views

Fabulous site, basic facilities but very well-kept and very clean. You won't get better views. Also, lovely costal path walks. Louise was very helpful and ensured everything is well kept.

Estuary view escapes

Absolutely stunning location. This is a real little gem of a site. The hosts are really friendly and go to great lengths to help with anything you need. We will certainly be returning.

Great spot and peaceful

Great spot for an overnight stay. Very peaceful with lovely views. Great walks on the doorstep along the beach or through the fields. Louise is a great host and makes sure you are settled in.

Beautiful site, exceptional views

Found this little gem. The owner was the most helpful lady and guided us to our pitch right next to a wooden seat and table, explained everything to us and recommended a dog walk for our dog. We walked into Haverigg, only a half hour or so walk away. Not a huge site which was good, gated with a code so no undesirables! Thank you so much Louise, we'll return xx

The perfect escape

For a quiet park up away from everything, you couldn't ask for better. Situated along the estuary, you're surrounded by water, sand and greenery, the only sounds you'll hear are the walkers going along the path to the beach and the other park visitors. Louise and Lea, the owners, have provided the necessities to make it a great place, with fresh water on tap, a really nice porta loo and the grey water and Elsan disposal points. No fancy shower blocks or electric hook up, but you don't need it. The site is set out with 7 tables, perfect for the barbecue, and the art work around the site is bright and interesting. We spent our time taking walks to the beach just a short walk away and doing several trips into Millom for the local shops, which is accessible along a coastal footpath taking you straight into the town.

Lovely unusual location

Was sent the access code for the gate and toilets at site (so no hassle getting on site). The site owners come down with their dogs to greet us and tell us about the site. The site has an amazing history of iron ore mining and ship breaking. Views were amazing and some lovely walks. All facilities are on site except showers. Toilets are locked porta-loos (code provided) but were impeccably clean and had been decorated with homely décor. Waste point, and clean water points were all clean and accessible. No electric hook ups at time of visit. Definitely recommend a visit to this site.

She reached out to a friend who is a caravan engineer, seeking advice on how to resolve the issue. Thanks to her help, our problem was swiftly resolved, allowing us to fully enjoy our trip without any disruptions. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat amidst nature or simply looking to unwind and recharge, this site ticks all the boxes. And with Louise at the helm, you can rest assured that your stay will be nothing short of exceptional.

Spectacular!

What a site! The most amazing view and a glorious sunrise. The dog and I spent our time out on the beach, we were both in our elements. I was there on my own and was the only van and felt safe. It was lovely chatting with the local dog walkers. Louise is super friendly, it felt like I was staying with friends.

Fantastic pitch

Great place to park up and stay. Fantastic views over the estuary and the dark night sky was great for stargazing, so peaceful and relaxing. On arrival, the owner is very informative and helpful. There are fresh water taps, a toilet emptying facility and a spotless portaloo on site, if needed. Nice walks from here too. We stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault anything, will definitely be back 👍👍😀

Brilliant with good walking from the site

Quiet and relaxing, we were the only ones on (at the most, it only takes 5). Beautiful scenery & great for dog walking as it's on the coastal path. Louise was very welcoming & friendly. She even texted to see if we were okay in the morning as the weather had been extremely windy and wet at night. Even though the weather wasn't great, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will be back when in the area again. Cheers xx

Lovely, quiet location with amazing views

Had a lovely stay! Louise came to greet us not long after we had arrived. She told us good areas to walk, all about the site and her plans over the next year. Can see this being a very popular site, especially over the summer months with the views. Thank you Louise for such a lovely stay!
