About the site

Located in the heart of Somerset's Blackmore Vale, Henstridge Golf and Leisure is a relaxed site that caters to outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful break. This landscaped park offers year-round camping and touring options for caravans, motorhomes, and tents, with hardstanding and grass pitches. These measure 6m x 6m, and optional 10 amp electric hookups (metered) are available too. Set on 70 acres of countryside, the site is home to an abundance of activities, from a well-stocked coarse fishing lake teeming with carp, roach, and tench to a scenic nine-hole golf course for both casual putters and avid golfers alike. The clubhouse serves as a welcoming social hub, featuring a cosy bar, restaurant, and a big-screen TV —and there's even more to explore beyond the park's borders. It's an ideal base to explore Dorset and Somerset. The site is just a 15 to 20 minute drive from Shaftesbury and Sherborne, with its abbeys, castles, museums, and a brilliant lake for kayaking (or more fishing). Seasonal pitches are available, too. Dogs are welcome. However, they must be kept on leads at all times. The site is also located next to an airfield, but this is only used by the air ambulance on rare occasions.

Large Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2025

Great place for camping with open space, there is a lake but you can request to have your pitch at the opposite end if you have small children. We opted for electric hook up and it was you pay as you go so you only pay for what you use. There is a supermarket 7 minutes away called Dike and Son or a spar if you only need essentials. The showers were standard for what you would get when camping, pressure was fine and never cold and the toilets were clean. Two of them did run out of paper so we popped into reception and they were replaced by the end of the day. There are two football goals on the grass near the toilet block which my children loved to play with and spent hours kicking a ball about. We spent most days exploring, we went to Bournemouth beach which is a lovely sandy beach and lots to do, there is a town nearby however we didn't use it. We visited Nunney castle near frome, its a small castle in a village and it stands surround by a deep moat, currently not open due to repairs to the bridge but the town is lovely to visit and the coffee shop sold delicious homemade cakes. The visit didn't take long as the castle was small so we headed to the East Somerset railway which is a brilliant day out. We rode the train from Cranmore about 25 mins and watched the steam train turn around to take us back which is a short trip but there is so much more to do here, a museum for you to experience how the station run years ago, the signal box where staff explained how they got permission to send trains to other stations and learn how the signals work along the track. We also visited Corfe castle which is a great place for adults and children, they had games for the children and activities to keep them engaged whilst walking around. The bakery sold delicious food we had pastries, sandwiches and cakes for lunch, then headed back into the castle to continue exploring.

Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2025

A brilliant picturesque location, country side all around. Placed near an RAF air base so you see many types of aircraft, despite this it is a very quiet place. The pitches are nicely spaced out. The hosts are brilliant, full of character and care. Me and my brother enjoyed it greatly, we will return.

Site's response

Thank you very much. we appreciate it. Glad you both enjoyed it. We would love to see you both again.
