Camping Pod - Camping PodsJul 2026

Location is brilliant, 10 min drive for our Blencathra hike, 15 min for an Ullswater swim and convenient for Derwent Water, Thirlmere etc. Pod was basic but clean, having a microwave was handy after a long day walking. Toilet blocks were clean tidy and well stocked with loo roll and hand wash. I was slightly concerned by only 3 showers but no-one else seemed to be using them so I got free choice each time. Washing room was great nice to have dish drainers, not often seen in campsites. I didn't notice a pub or anything walkable - we weren't looking but this might cause some a problem, and there is traffic noise being so close to the A66 but that makes it easy to get too so choose your compromise. I'll definitely stay again but will probably bring an air bed as the pull out bed was incredibly hard. It's more of an adult site, not really anywhere for games with kids etc but as a couple, that was great for us.

Ok but a little dated

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2026

Nice, clean site. Not much from the site, everything is a drive away. Showers and toilets are clean but a little dated. Worked well for our trip booked last minute. Washing up facilities laundry too. Paid £100 for 3 nights on electric which is ok, but not the best value we've had. There are quite a few statics on site and some of the vehicles did not adhere to the 10mph speed limit so if travelling with children, take care. Probably would stay here again as most places in the Lake District cost more than other parts of the country for some reason?

A great site with very clean facilities. Good size pitch with hard standing and electricity. Good value. Cycling from the site to Keswick on quiet roads. Pub within 20 mins walk to watch the football !

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2026

Beckses is a lovely quiet campsite and well looked after by the friendly, helpful staff. The lawned areas are kept mowed, the whole site is very neat and tidy. The toilet and shower areas are spotless and appear to be cleaned numerous times per day. The bus stop is a very short walk away, making it very convenient for exploring without a car or motorhome. We used it to get to the start of a walk up Blencathra and for an evening out in Keswick. There is a little noise from A66 but it's just a gentle, background hum and the site itself is very peaceful. Talking to other guests on the site, there are many repeat visitors, which says a lot.

Brilliant stay

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJun 2026

Great place just for a short break. Bus service is good to get to places. Will be going again to chill from rat race. Good spacing between caravan and motorhomes. Good showers and bathrooms. A small shop may be nice just to get some fresh things but otherwise, great site.

Nice basic campsite

Enjoyed our stay at Beckses, but only 3 stars because the shower cubicles were a bit small and the shower a bit weak. Other than that, great.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesMay 2026

I’m a not a fan of reversing with a tourer attached at all! But the pitch sizes are so generous that even the most amateur towers can manage it, allowing you to keep the car parked at the front of the axle, making checking out super easy. Just hook back up and go. No tight spots to worry about. We had a lovely 2 nights and despite not being on site for long amounts of time, it seemed very peaceful and well equipped. The showers were hot and the toilets were clean, just as you’d expect and we never needed staff for anything but they came across very laid back and approachable. Very hassle free stay

Good site with flat pitches

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesMay 2026

Good size, flat pitches which are well spaced. Clean and tidy toilet facilities and showers. The site is about half way between Penrith and Keswick (approximately 15 minutes drive to each). There is some road noise from the A66, but we didn't find this too obtrusive and it gets quieter in the evening. There is a pub about 1 mile away (15-20 minute walk on a quiet back road) which does lovely food. You can also walk to a local farm shop. All in all we had a lovely week and this site is a good base for exploring the north Lake District.

Quiet, great location for walking, facilities were spotless

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2026

Basic, quiet, clean park which was handy for exploring as off the A66. Small playground was enjoyed by the little ones and as it’s not a very big site and was early April there were few cars to worry about. Showers were lovely and hot after running for a bit. Nice farm shop/cafe and pub (White horse) a short drive away.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesApr 2026

We cut out stay short due to poor weather forecast. The site is a little dated, I've marked location down due to proximity to the A66 and the road noise. I was aware of this before booking, and wish I had spent a bit more time researching a quieter site. Facilities are clear but a little dated.

This is the third time we’ve stayed at Beckses and we will be back again. It’s pretty basic but suits our requirements perfectly. Yeah you can go to an all singing all dancing site but you pay for it. Beckses make you feel welcome and are really accommodating.

Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

Perfect location for exploring The Lake District. Site was well maintained with good size pitches for tourers, caravan and campers alike. Dog friendly with good onsite poochy exercise area. Showers were probably the best we have ever seen at any site - clean, with no annoying push button!! The Herdwick Inn, approx 1 Mile from site, is very welcoming with a fantastic range of food and drink. Overall, lovely site and will return to continue our touring of this beautiful part of the world - thanks.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2025

The site was small with a selection of accommodation. We went when it was quiet, so the shower rooms and washing up area were clean and available, cannot comment on how this would be in busier times. The site is on a busy main road, which some may find intrusive, and it would have been helpful to be provided with some local knowledge of any accessible walking routes.
