Roof Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2026

Simple but exactly what you need. Easy check in. I came for cycling and running. Really good location for both. Lovely hot shower when returning after bike ride and pub on site. Will come back.

It was a nice campsite, perfect for walking up Helvellyn. Plus, the pub next door is very nice and there is a bus stop on the doorstep as well. The facilities are fairly clean, although the shower needed a little more attention.

great place right next ro the kimns headinm

Fabulous views from all camping pitches. Quite close to road but not bothered by road noise, certainly didn't keep us up at night. Well kept facilities, basic but spotless. Helpful & friendly owners. Good value and will be back 😊

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2026

A small, quiet, basic site with everything we needed. The toilets and shower were ok. The shower heads are a bit low and the sinks a bit small with a shelf above making washing a little difficult. The water gets warm quickly though. The washrooms are not shiny but they are clean, tidy and functional. There is no other lighting on the site (walkways etc) than at the washroom so a torch is essential - this suits us and I see as a positive. Good spot for tackling the Helvellyn ridge from this side. Bus comes every half hour although this was significantly impacted by the traffic in Keswick and Ambleside on the Saturday afternoon which meant one was cancelled and the next one was late - nice setting to wait though! Pub ideally placed next door and food was excellent (though a little pricier than we would usually pay). There is a shop advertised at the pub but we didn't see it open (this could be our timing so can't criticise).

Nice site

No issues, clean facilities and a hot shower. Not much around apart from the pub next door, which is excellent, but the peace and quiet is worth it. Would visit again!

A small and lovely site. Perfect for exploring the area. It’s on a fairly busy road so be aware. Great pub at the entrance.

Very near the road

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2026

The main issue with this site is that we found it to be very close to a busy road. The site runs parallel to the road with only a screen of trees. This means that during the day (and especially at weekends) there is constant traffic noise. The hard standing areas are set up so that you face the road. Having said this, the view of the mountains in the other direction is beautiful. I would have to say that I would only recommend this site if you were wanting a 1 night stopover spot, perhaps to visit the gorgeous infinity pool about 30 mins walk away. The facilities were clean and suitable - the issue we had was with its siting next to the road.

Convenient place to stay in the Lakes

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2026

This is a great place to stay if you're looking for somewhere central in the Lakes. Toilets are well-maintained, and each plot has a functioning electric hookup and water tap. Everything you need! It's quite a small site and it's right by the road. It might not be suitable if you're looking for a longer stay and to spend plenty of time on the site, but for short stays and people looking only to use it as a base, it's perfect!

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2026

Really friendly farm camping site - our first motorhome outing, and the owner was so helpful getting us all set up. Perfect location for buses to Keswick and Grasmere and a wonderful pub next door for a great meal!

Basic but ok

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2026

Basic facilities, but clean and showers hot. Noisy road next to site but only bother you if early to sleep or late to rise. Good place for walkers to Helvellyn or Sticks Pass and plunge pools. Buses regular and pub meals looked ok. Beer pricey though. 3 nights on site probably about max. Good for tourers.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2026

What a great location! Mid-way between Keswick and Grasmere, on a bus route that runs on to Ambleside and Windermere. Regular bus service too. Next door to a very decent pub, serving excellent food. The facilities are basic but spotlessly clean. Yes, there's considerable traffic noise from the adjacent busy road but it quietens at night. A good hike too from the site itself.

Good bus service

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJun 2026

This site has some great views, a good bus service close to site. Toilets and showers could be improved. The hard standing was way out of level for a 7 metre motorhome. Service area basic.

Lovely little spot

Roof Tent - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJun 2026

Great little spot to go straight to Helvellyn or I would definitely recommend fishergill place!! There is a bus stop straight outside that'll take you straight to Keswick or Grasmere. Facilities are quaint and all the basics are there for your Lakes getaway. Would definitely recommend. Is next to a busy road so would be mindful of this if you're a light sleeper.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJun 2026

Lovely location and the pub next door is great. Clean, basic facilities nothing missing for a campervan, level plots. Separate m/f blocks with 2 showers in each. No phone signal at all and no Wi-Fi, so take a good book! The plots were a bit too close together for us, next van was a couple of metres from our porch.

Brilliant stay

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesMay 2026

Back to basics campsite. More or less right alongside the roadside. Toilets and shower facilities very dated and very basic. There is a pub next door and also a bus route into the local towns. Probably good for 1 or 2 night stays as a base for exploring.

Great site!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesMay 2026

Whilst this site is pretty much on the road and can be a little noisy at times, it didn't bother us at all. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and the facilities are old but clean. It's also very central to all of the great places we wanted to visit and the pub on its doorstep does really good food. The only thing it was lacking were disabled facilities. I have a stoma and would have greatly benefited from an accessible toilet. That said, I did manage and we had an amazing time.

Excellent stay

Friendly and helpful hosts. Great spot for walking - and next to pub for food. Close to road but not an issue as we were out walking all day. Bathrooms basic in best way - everything worked and very clean - all you need!
