Paradise!

I can't thank our kind hosts enough for a beautiful two night stay. A gorgeous and luxurious private haven! Amazing facilities, spotlessly clean, a warm welcome and a very comfy bed. Stunning views and a perfect spot to watch the Eclipse with my Sister and two of my Nieces. Could not fault it!

Great time

As someone who doesn't drive, it wasn't too bad as there is a beach close by and walking distance to a bus route, so enjoyed it as a home location. The people that were running the place were very kind and genuine, as well as completely on top of everything throughout the day.

Minehead geodome

Had a great family getaway, peaceful, picturesque and fun. The geodome was great, all facilities worked well. For camping novices it was so well setup with everything you need. We will visit again. Lisa the host was very friendly and there to help if needed.

Super serene camping experience

Marshwood is perfect for a really lovely quiet few days camping. Huge field with just 8-10 tents, all with loads of space. Basic, but very well maintained facilities; always clean and well stocked. Not much going on in Blue Anchor Bay itself, but we had a nice couple of evenings in The Smugglers Inn. Lots of other interesting places in the area though. Would absolutely come back to Marshwood for a chilled few days in beautiful surroundings.

Family camping

Lovely quiet location. Friendly people that was camping (no trouble). Lovely scenery. Toilets and showers was perfect. Brought own entertainment (painting).

Quiet, friendly, close to beach

Quiet basic field with clean toilets and shower, friendly owner, perfect for a short camping trip with the family.

Great quiet campsite - well located

An excellent campsite in a great location with friendly owners. It has the basics, a good hot shower and toilet, both clean and working well. There are 10 pitches in a large field so it never felt busy.

A lovely place to stay

Had a great camp, large field so had plenty of space to pitch our tent without being on top of other tents. Very peaceful you could hear the owls hoot. Toilet facilities were very clean, I have never used a composting toilet before, so was amazed at how it all worked and how it didn't smell, so don't be put off. I had a lovely chat with the owner. Definitely get peacocks 😁 Overall, I would definitely recommend staying there and we would stay there again.

Peaceful, beautiful and quiet

We stayed at Marshwood for 3 nights (easily could have been more). It is set in a beautiful scenic location in Blue Anchor. The grass is soft and we had loads of room! We took our 17 month on a little camping holiday and he absolutely loved it. He loved watching the tractors in the fields surrounding. The beach and steam train are only a 10 minute walk away. The toilet and shower are clean and easy to use! The only thing we struggled with was not having electric (we took battery packs but didn't last long). Electric isn't necessary though. We will 100% be coming back! Thank you to everyone at Marshwood!

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and will be back, what better compliment could we receive :) It is true we do not have electricity but if it is something you miss, I would suggest a small solar battery set up.. a little panel which will work perfectly at this time of year and a power pack. We use these in our glamping facilities and they work very well and are easily carried around. It was lovely to have you stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again. Lisa.

Perfect little location

We stayed here for two nights and it was ideal, the site is so close to the beach and various different amenities. The toilet and shower was very clean and well kept, with great communication from the owner too! We felt very welcome here and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

A lovely quiet site with great views of the countryside!

I wish I had booked for longer to stay at Marshwood because the site was perfect for what I wanted it for. A nice back to basics site located a 10 minute walk from Blue Anchor. The site staff were warm and very accommodating, offering local recommendations for places to see and visit and just generally doing everything they can to make the stay pleasant. I was a bit concerned about the single toilet and shower on site with the number of people that were there but there was no problems waiting to use either, and the unique little shower is much better than I would have expected looking at it from outside. I definitely want to come and visit again to try out the places I didn't manage this time around. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Great location

Great location and very friendly couple who run it! Toilet and shower were clean, however I worry that if the campsite gets busy there will be a long wait for facilities. I think another toilet and shower could be a useful addition.

Good morning, and thank you for your kind review :) I note the comments regarding the toilet and we already have another toilet ready to install, I agree the site would benefit from a second facility. I would also add that your visit was actually at the busiest time :) Although it is a large 7 acre field, we limit the number of people who stay here. We value the space and peace of our guests, and also ourselves. We like the fact that our guests have a choice of where to pitch and will never be squeezed in. We are a pop up campsite so do not offer entertainment or swimming pools. We offer something far more valuable in our opinion, the ability to escape and enjoy a tranquil, calm base from which to explore our beautiful part of the country. We love the opportunity to share it and are very glad you enjoyed your stay. Kind regards - Lisa.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Incredible views and just a short walk to Blue Anchor Bay, where you can catch a steam train to other destinations. 100% recommend staying here. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you!

Beautiful, cosy bell tents

It's quite hard to put into words how much we truly enjoyed our stay. Everything was so lovely from start to finish. On arrival we were greeted by Lisa who showed us around and settled us in to our beautiful bell tent, which was fenced off to other campers in their own tents located in a field opposite. The area was shared with two other bell tents and had a shared fire pit overlooking a small fresh water stream and open field. In the distance, you can see the steam trains passing by and on a clear day, you can also see the sea. It's worth waking up early in the morning and opening the tent doors where you can see the beautiful sunrise right from your cosy double bed. The bell tents also have a wood burner stove, which helps keep you warm overnight. It also allows you to make a cup of tea or hot chocolate, which was kindly supplied in a welcome package along with milk and some tasty home made short bread biscuits. Everything about this trip felt so perfect and the hosts did their best to accommodate for our every need.
