Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesSep 2025

We arrived after 17:00 so no welcome, but an envelope with our pitch number was left at the reception at the sister site next door, as well as a map of the site. I was shocked at the 16:00 check in and 10:00 check out. Most places we've stayed, you rock up from 14:00 and leave by 12:00. The money for the stay didn't seem to marry up. The site map itself for showing the pathway to the Loch was totally inaccurate. On looking for said path, we encountered a fence blocking entry onto the sister site. No idea. Toilet and shower facilities were basic. I didn't use the shower as the thought of shower curtains clinging to other people's bodies then mine just didn't appeal. One sink tap exploded water, the other leaked water everywhere. Not amazing altogether. The pitch itself was okay. No Loch view, just a view of surrounding statics. Overall, our stay was meh.

Site's response

On arrival our out of hours wardens contact number is available should you require assistance he is happy to help. Check in and check out times are 4pm and 10am but an earlier check in and a later check out can be requested by contacting the park. I am not sure which site map you were referring to, but there is no advertised pathway to the loch from Cruachan. The loch can be easily accessed from Loch Tay Highland Lodges which is Cruachans' sister park located next door and there is a well signposted footpath leading from Cruachan to Loch Tay to facilitate this access. We have reported the tap issue to our maintenance team who will investigate this. Cruachan does not have loch views and we do not advertise that it does. The views are of the surrounding countryside with Ben More and mountain range in the background. If you visit again Loch Tay Highland Lodges may be a recommendation for you, there is a wide range of accommodation, easy access to the loch and it has loch views.

Highly recommended.

Highly recommended. A well-maintained campsite with everything you need. The restrooms are a bit dated, but very clean and everything works perfectly. Beautiful grounds and friendly staff.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesAug 2025

The site is divided into a campsite and a holiday home site. There are two categories. The campsite has muddy, unlit paths, and the restroom building is dilapidated and unkempt. A muddy, unlit path leads to the other section. There, there are lit, well-gravelled paths and access to the lake. This campsite is not recommended! Translated from German.

Site's response

Dear Guest, Cruachan is a camping and caravan site so is very different from Loch Tay Highland Lodges which offers lodges and other types of accommodation. The two parks are unique in their own ways and the pricing reflects the different options we offer. Guests do have the choice as to what they book.
