Roof Tent - Premium Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

We booked a premium pitch for a large tent. However, found that the pitch allocated to us was on the edge of a driving track at the top of a hill where we were surrounded by stinging nettles. The pitch was narrow and the ground was full of rocks and tree roots, making it difficult to peg out the tent. Definitely not a premium pitch. Some of the non premium pitches were more spacious and flat. Showers and toilet facilities were very clean. Washing up facilities were very good with very hot water enabling proper cleaning. It was a quiet campsite, the on site shop was handy. The campsite was quite tricky to get to due to single track roads but we seldom encountered traffic on the roads. If we were to rebook, we would stipulate not pitch 12 but otherwise, this was a nice campsite to visit.

Large Tent - Premium Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Overall, excellent and we'd definitely go back The 'standard of service' is mixed - the lady at reception was excellent and really helpful but the lady at the pizza truck (which we'd pre-ordered) was pretty rude and snappy first to our kids (who she sent away) then to my partner when they went to collect at the appointed time - it was 20 mins late in the end, which we had no problem with, but a smile and an explanation would have been more helpful than a curt 'I'm busy'.

Lovely place, the staff was nice and helpful, and the facilities were as described. It's about 30min drive from Windermere lake and the position is optimal.

Medium Tent - Large Optional Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

The view is beautiful from the campsite. However, the road up there can be quite tricky if you're not used to steep narrow country lanes, but overall, very quiet and peaceful especially at night the stars are incredibly visible. The pitch next to us was insanely disrespectful, was letting their kids touch my car and bat their badminton racket next to it, got hit by a ball at one point. They were also letting them run around our tent in circles whilst they were touching our stuff. But that's not the campsite's fault, just be aware there's a few like it on the site. Service rating is 3 because I paid to have my phone charged for an hour at reception, when I got it back, it had only gone to 15% and it was water damaged in the port. Toilets are alright nice and clean! The jam in their shop is unreal and honestly, it was a nice stay, just don't think I'd do it again.

Roof Tent - Valley View Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

If you can, book the valley view. It's away from the bulk of the pitches, and you get something nice to look at. The facilities were great, especially the pizza stand, and the staff were great too.

Good amenities. Camp is in a perfect setting over looking a valley and mountains. Staff were helpful and friendly. I could have stayed there all summer long. Nice and central. Don't forget pizza nights. Missing it already xx

Medium Tent - Valley View Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

My best camping experience to date. The staff were great, cleaned very thoroughly and regularly. Beautiful views and location, very safe and calm campsite. The pizza from the truck was a lovely touch and breakfast if needed. Much better than expected and absolutely no negatives. Thank you for sharing your space and providing such a great place to come and visit. It is obviously a labour of love and you all are doing a wonderful job. Thanks again from the Hampson's!

A good campsite, very peaceful. The hot water broke but was fixed extremely quickly so all was well. Good shop, great staff. I would happily visit again.

Small Tent - Small Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

The location was good and well organised. The facilities can get crowded as they are not big enough. The first morning of our stay the coffee/tea machine was broken. The manager gave us tea bags for free and we went to ask hot water to another customer. Having a kettle for customers to use would have solved all issues. All in all, we were satisfied with our stay and we would happily come again.

If you're looking for a site where it's very quiet, no traffic noise, no police sirens going off, then this is a option you should consider.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Gravel Campervan PitchesJul 2025

Our first stop on our trip round Lake District. Out of the way but that was quite nice. Well stocked shop on site and could order croissants for breakfast. Good pitch with electric close to showers / toilets as I am disabled.

Site is lovely, quiet and secluded. The couple who run the site are lovely, chatting with campers whilst tenting to the sites needs. Highly recommend if you want a quiet area to stay whilst visiting the lakes.

Medium Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

2 night stay at this site. Access is via a couple of miles of narrow, single width, winding lanes. Rural location, a few minutes drive to a pub. Small shop on site, open a few hours early and late in the day, stocking some basic essential staples, bacon, eggs, coffee, ice-cream, fresh bakery and bread to order. (no beer or wine). Grass pitches. Level-ish ground, with gravel track through the middle. Toilet blocks with 3 toilets, 3 sinks and 3 showers in female facilities. Two outside washing up stations. Communal fridge for customer use. Fire pits available for hire, and logs for sale, but we didn't use one. We booked a grass pitch with electric and found the distance to the electric socket from our allocated pitch was too far to reach with our long cable. You would need at least 20m cable. Was told by staff member that they have extra long extensions available, but we managed without electric for our two night stay. Other clients on site seemed to be younger ages, in small social groups. If you want a rural, quiet and simple site then this is it.

Loved it here, great facilities, clean & tidy. Lovely hot showers. Nice to be able to book pastries for breakfast. All in all a lovely quiet place to stay as long as there aren't inconsiderate people on their tv.

Nice campsite!

Large Tent - Large Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

First time staying at Moss Howe Farm Campsite and we had a lovely stay! We had a large tent pitch and it was extremely difficult to get our tent pegs into the ground due to the site having limestone under the grass, so that was a challenge. Luckily, the reception/shop on site sold "rock pegs" so we bought as many as we could and they did the trick and held the guide ropes in well. Toilet block was decent, only downside is the showers as at one point it was a dribble of scorching hot water, and they only stay on for about 30 secs at a time (similar to leisure centre showers). Would definitely recommend as overall, a lovely site, just need to ensure you have super strong pegs due to solid ground!

Great stay

We had a great stay in this rural site very peaceful and relaxing. The facilities were clean and the staff very helpful. This is our first visit to The Lakes area so Moss Howe was a good start on our trip, but so much rain!
