Clear filters Great facilities, well maintained, too hectic
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 Th campsite itself is great, beautiful location, friendly staff, and great facilities.
The major downside for me was that due to the large amounts of families and children, it is very loud. I had to leave a day early due to being awoken constantly through the night from crying babies and toddlers.
The listing stated no group bookings, but I was located next to a few large group of families, who camped together with lots of children.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 We have been visiting this site for several years now. It is a great location with 360 degree views of the fells! Facilities always clean, a good site shop and we enjoyed the attached pub/restaurant.

straightforward camping, with quality straightforward facilities. No unnecessary extras.
Great camping field, all pitches level.
Staff friendly and quick service.
Lovely pub lunch avaliable on site if wanted.
Full site quiet by 11pm.

Staff amazingly friendly and helpful. Very busy, bit noisy, loud music but did go off at 10pm, as far as I could tell, just this couple with music that loud.
Would definitely stay again and camp near bottom of site if spaces or stay in pod. Great walks from campsite.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 Just got back from 2 night stay and all I can say is the whole place is perfect.
The location is amazing, with us having 4 dogs there is an enclosed dog walk and central for other walks we hiked up red crees from the campsite.
Can't wait to go back!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2025 We absolutely loved it here and would definitely return. We were greeted with a friendly face and clear information on checking in. There was even someone around when we were struggling to find a parking space to help us and even let us nip into the shop for something when it wasn't open.
Facilities were all nice and clean. The showers were hot. We could not fault this campsite at all and wished we could have stayed longer.

People were able to lite fire in pits. Looked very nice. Everything clean. Very good food at the pub. Some food at the shop available. Very friendly and helpful staff!

Staff very helpful and friendly, site is very well kept x
The road to the campsite is narrow and lots of turns and hills and sheep can be on the road so just take your time and be safe , not suitable for a car towing a caravan as road is too narrow I would say x

Lovely views in a very remote area
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 Lovely place to stay for the views, you're right in the middle of a mountain range and views in every direction are gorgeous.
Pros. Views. Shop on site. Water/laundry/shower/washing up facilities.
Cons. Showers are too hot to start with, could not wash my toddler in there. Shower and toilet facilities get dirty often.
On-site pub was understaffed and getting a slot to eat is difficult.

Incredible location, friendly staff and lovely vibe
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 Overall, this campsite was brilliant.
The location is totally stunning with dramatic hills on all sides. On arrival, the staff were very helpful answering all my questions and provided us with all the information we needed.
The shop was well stocked and had a couple of items to help us make life easier (foot pumps for airbeds, for example). If they'd sold a fire pit we'd have bought one, too as that was one thing we missed on the evenings.
Facilities were good, pub on sight did food that was not exceptional but after 6 hours of hiking we were very happy to eat a hot pub dinner.
The only downside to the facilities was that the showers were lukewarm at best with the occasional burst of hot water. Didn't particularly bother me but I heard other campers commenting on it and it would have been nice to have consistently hot water. Other campsites do have better shower facilities but it's a minor gripe.
Overall, I'd recommend this site as it's close to so many activities and walks on the water or up the hills. My group drove to the Kentmere horseshoe from here but there were dozens of wainwright walks nearby from this site.
I'll definitely be back!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 The site is in a really great location - right between the hills and mountains - with easy access to Ullswater and back to Ambleside.
We had a super time walking straight out from the site into the surrounding area as well as going further a trails by car.
Beautiful valley campsite
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2025 Absolutely stunning area, the campsite is in a nice big valley so there's picture perfect views all around. The site itself is quite large and you're free to pitch wherever you want. The staff are all friendly and helpful, facilities are good and maintained regularly.
The only downside to our stay was some of the nearby bins were overflowing and not once dealt with by anyone, not sure if there a certain day of the week at something but it was getting a bit messy.
All in all though, it was great and we'd go back again
