Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

This site is relatively new and is still being developed. There is currently only one shower for this site, but have been advised that this will be changing in the near future, when there will be more facilities added Conveniently positioned for Hook Norton which is just a short walk away. The pub is nice, friendly welcoming staff. Menu was limited on our visit, but the food we had was delicious.

If your looking for a quiet stay then don't bother

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

We booked as a pit stop. Granted, it was cheap and cheerful, but a pre warning there would be live music 20 feet from your tent pitch would have been ideal. Had we known, we wouldn't have booked. Nothing on our confirmation and no info given when checking in, or we probably wouldn't have bothered putting the tent up! We were given a 'choice' of pitch on arrival. However, there was only one left, which happened to be on a slant so it made an interesting night's sleep. Following on from the live band, there was music playing on speakers from the bar. Others on the site were also extremely loud into the early hours, if you're into that kind of thing then it's great. If you're looking for a quiet stay, this definitely isn't the place for you. Others seemed to be having a good time but not us. Facilities lacked, no washing up area etc. The team behind the bar were nice initially when checking in and ordering drinks.

Now a under-resourced party place

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

We stayed at this site about three years ago and loved it. This year we used it for an overnight on a long journey. The new owners have obviously invested a lot in making it a money pit - mainly aimed at young party-goers. There was a band on - which ended at 11, so no complaints - but after a lot of drunk people shouted around the garden for a long time, and the outside bar kept serving - and they played amplified music till midnight. The other issue is that a small campsite has doubled in size without improving the facilities. One toilet and one combined toilet-shower was totally inadequate - there were long waits for anything this morning. There is no supervision of the campsite and there was litter everywhere. The bar staff were run off their feet serving drinks so the users for the campsite did what they fancied. Our previous visit was great - nice country pub, good food, welcoming, and some nice chats of the campsite and in the pub. Last night was unfriendly, with very poor food, and many loud and objectionable people. We won't be back.

Lovely little spot

Medium Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

We stayed two nights with two teens and two tweens. Big spots with electric hook up. Drinking water is available but there is not washing up station. Plenty of bins and the site was very clean. Pub toilets were open all pub hours. There are also 2 toilets available 24 hours - not demountable, properly plumbed loos attached to the pub with hot running water and hand dryers. One also has a decent shower and baby change. They were cleaned each day but a bit grotty by the end of the day. Pub food is decent and there is a small playground and some ride on toys for littles. A band played outside the pub on Saturday night but were done by 11. Some noise from the trucks on the next door site early morning but nothing ear plugs couldn't deal with.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Absolutely lovely place to stay, however I found that the use of 1 communal shower was not enough, especially as it included toilet with one other available. With the amount of campers, I feel more are needed and closer to campers so its easier to walk to in the night. The facilities were clean. The food is lovely and a friendly service. wonderful pub, all visitors are friendly and was lovely to see dogs were included.

Not so clean

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

Stayed here on a Saturday and Sunday night. Was live music on the Saturday night. Site is basic which was fine but the toilets and shower were pretty dirty. Site was busy on the Saturday so toilets would be busy but they weren't cleaned in the time we were there. Overflowing bins and dirty floors. Campers have to keep dogs on lead but pub visitors letting dogs run loose. There was actually dog mess at the drinking water tap. Bins around the camp site not emptied and were either full or overflowing. You have to go through the pub beer garden to get to the toilets, this area wasn't tidied up at closing time so on Sunday and Monday morning there was empty plastic glasses scattered around the place.

Very nice and friendly place

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2025

In need of a bigger shower/toilet block but that is in hand speaking to the owner just waiting for planning from council, the facilities that are there are well looked after and clean. It is relaxing and perfect for trips out to see the Cotswolds'. We had days in Banbury, Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and many of the local villages around.

Great experience

Super little spot we have stopped at for one night on the way home from Wales. Has electric hook ups, water and waste disposal. Only one shower but it’s clean and hot, we have booked to eat in the pub tonight which looks lovely!

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Stay was decent, pub had a good atmosphere. Pub prices for drinks were London price which surprised me. Could do with washing up facilities and more toilet blocks, 1 toilet between approx 60 people was a bit of a struggle. All in all, I would say this was a good site for a short term stay or longer if you have washing facilities on board.

Can’t fault it for the price

Nice little spot, good entry point to the Cotswolds AONB. Got everything you need, and a nice little pub onsite.

Friendly hosts, lovely pub, loads of space for children to let off steam! Easy to access, especially with hard standing in the camping areas. We'd stay here again.

Restful stay

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

It was a quiet location for us but I would imagine it can get busy at weekends. But in a good place. Probably be good to have more toilet and shower facilities and a washing up area. But I believe plans have been submitted for this. Would definitely use again.

Ideal for visiting family

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

We booked to stay in the campsite to watch a local Oxford band (The Inflatables). The campsite is a very good size and was pretty full. We opted for non-electric as we're self contained. There's a new road way laid in the campsite which makes driving easy. The band played outside then when it finished the campsite was quiet and we had a good nights sleep. We had a meal in the pub which was very nice and large portions. On arrival we were welcomed by the friendly staff. We didn't use the sites loos or shower so can't comment on that but the pub toilets were immaculate. This was our first time here but as we only live half an hour away we will certainly be back again soon. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Great value

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Great location, lovely food, great entertainment all for a very reasonable price, I would happy pay a bit more if there were more toilets and showers. But as it is it's a great stop over.

Stayed for one night

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Stayed for one night as a band on we wanted to see. We were told advisable to book a table if eating, but also a garden menu for eating outside was available and didn't have to book. Went to order at 6.30pm was told at full capacity, no new orders being taken. Bit disappointing as we weren't told anything if they got to capacity? Ordered a takeaway.

Very noisy, no food

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Site was a mess, very noisy groups, music and shouting from all hours until early hours. Playing football over motorhomes. Very uneven everywhere. Definitely not recommended. The EHU part is dreadful, no space between vans at all. Couldn't get food as there were no tables available. The only reason I wanted a pub stop over was for food.

Good campsite

Campsite was great and had great entertainment on the Saturday night food was good the only thing was that there was only one shower and two toilets and everyone had to queue would be nice if there was a shower block and toilet block.

Busy weekend in July

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

We came on a busy weekend with a band playing on the Saturday night. The staff were really friendly and helpful. However, this can be a really busy site with not much space to the people pitching up next to you. There is one shower + toilet and one toilet for the whole site when the pub is shut, and there are no washing-up facilities. Also, the loo roll in the toilet ran out in the mornings.

Nice stay

Jul 2025

I went with 3 motorcycle friends and camped from Thursday night to Sunday morning. The site is ideally located right behind 'The Gate Hangs High' pub and not far from Hook Norton and the brewery. There was plenty of space on the campsite when we arrived and we pitched our 4 small tents on one of the limited terraced areas on the site (the rest of the site is fairly sloping). We were rudely awoken at 6am on the Friday morning by the noise of lorries and bulldozers working at the adjacent re-cycling centre (which is right next door to the site albeit with a high solid fence between the two areas). When we returned from a ride on the Friday afternoon, our camping area had been swamped with other people's tents and caravans, with little attention given to any minimum distancing between adjacent tents (none was stated on arrival). We suffered from noisy neighbours, but hey ho, it was a weekend and a band (The Inflatables) was booked to play on the Saturday evening. The pub was very nice (and in a good location) with very good food and friendly/young staff, albeit service was very slow on the Saturday evening. We had a very nice cooked full English breakfast on the Saturday morning, but we were told that the cook couldn't make it on the Sunday morning. The campsite is let down by the lack of facilities (2 toilets and only 1 shower), although more toilets are available when the pub is open. There were queues when the pub wasn't open. There are no washing up facilities, so you have to use the cold water tap to wash up. The band were very good, were well attended and finished playing at about 11pm, although the Spotify music afterwards was eventually turned off at 2am, which wasn't great. I don't understand the reason for this, as there was no one there to listen to it for the last hour or two. All in all, a nice weekend which would have been improved by better camping facilities and a few basic rules around distancing between tents and groups of people. The owners could also warn people of the noisy re-cycling centre next door, which affects those staying during weekdays.
