About the site

Abbey Green Farm is a small family friendly site overlooking pretty lawns and farmland, just a 20 minute drive from the Mere at Ellesmere. Set in the picturesque countryside, it's a perfect hideaway for relaxed touring and camping and an ideal base for walking and cycling in Shropshire. A seasonal glamping pod is available too. Chosen by The Sunday Times as one of the top 20 places to camp in the UK! This family run campsite is nestled in a quiet and secluded location in picturesque countryside, within a five minute drive of local amenities - and an ideal 'get away from it all' break. There are 12 flat and spacious grass pitches, three of which are non electric and nine of which include 10 amp electric hook ups. The non electric pitches are suitable for small tents only and a maximum of two people, whilst the electric grass pitches allow tents, caravans and campervans and up to four people are permitted. For those who would prefer something a bit more luxe, The Orchard Hideaway camping pod is the perfect option, measuring 4m x 3m and sleeping up to two. It features a double deep sprung mattress with luxury bedding, a fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. All bedding is provided, but please remember to bring your own towels. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on our campsite; however, due to livestock in the adjoining field, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate dogs in The Orchard Hideaway. As a peaceful countryside setting with resident sheep, all dogs on site must be kept on a short lead at all times and must not approach livestock fencing. For a little treat whilst you are away, the site offers freshly made cream tea, luxury ice cream, waffles and stone baked pizzas (24 hours' notice required). Campfires are not permitted.

Abbey Green Farm is open from 01/01 to 20/09 and 28/09 to 20/12. Pitches from £24/night for 2 people.

VW-Type Campervan - Large Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2025

Fantastic little camping site. Toilet block is superb. Probably the best we've seen. Owners are very welcoming. Pre ordered pizza was delicious, should have ordered two. Overall great weekend. Would highly recommend.

Site's response

Large Tent - Extra Large Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2025

Although the location was off the beaten track. It was a gem of a campsite. The layout of the pitches was in a square which I thought lent a sense of community. The shower and toilet facilities were very luxurious as promised. In addition the homemade cream tea, pizzas, and icecream were superb. We loved it!

Clean site, issues with poor communication

VW-Type Campervan - Large Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Very clean site, lacking in communication from owners. A phone number on a board but not other details to say what to do on arrival, so we set up and was then spoken to rather rudely by the owner who wanted us to have set up somewhere else. More clear information needed on arrival process, park area also fenced off and no information provided on the reason for this.

Site's response

Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you found the site very clean, maintaining high standards is something we take great pride here at Abbey Green Farm. We’re sorry you felt communication was lacking. While we don’t ask guests to call us on arrival, our contact numbers are clearly displayed at the entrance to the field, and it’s courteous to get in touch if unsure where to go. Your group chose to set up without contacting us and in an area that was not allocated to you, which caused disruption to our carefully managed site. When we spoke to you, it was not done rudely but clearly, we take the organisation of our site seriously to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable experience for all guests. We also noted you pushed through established hedging to get to your neighbouring friends. This is not the considerate behaviour we expect from guests, and we would not be able to accept a future booking from you in the future. We wish you all the best with your future travels. Abbey Green Farm.
