About the site

Set beside the River Tavy, there are copses of mature trees within the camping fields and lovely views of Dartmoor and the adjacent farmland. It's a tranquil and traditional campsite where you'll enjoy a peaceful night's sleep and the dawn chorus as your alarm clock. The site offers a variety of spacious pitches, suitable for both tents and tourers. Each pitch allows up to six guests, some also with a 16-amp electric hook up or fully serviced with electric, grey waste, water and a TV aerial connection. Pitch up by the riverside or under the shelter of the trees, great on those sunny days. For those searching for some extra luxury, opt for one of the glamping units. The Jubilee shepherd's hut sleeps up to two, kitted out with a double bed, table and chairs, plus a wood-burning stove to keep you cosy. For cooking, there is a fridge, kettle, toaster and a wicker hamper containing cutlery, tableware and drinking glasses. Outside, you will also find a 'field kitchen' which is perfect for al fresco evenings, comprised of an induction hob, water tap, pots, pans and a fire pit with a BBQ grill. Shared facilities can also be found nearby. Two ensuite pods, Drake and Bedford, also sleep up to two. Inside you will find a fold-away double sofa bed, plus a kitchen, lounge with TV and a shower room. The two Escape Pods +2 also feature a bunk bed for two kids. There are also three tipis sleeping up to four on camp beds available from April until September. Evenings can be spent cooking up a BBQ or toasting marshmallows over the fire pit, as long as it is raised from the ground. Dogs are also welcome to join you for your stay, with up to three allowed per pitch.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Riverside)May 2025

Welcome was great and we were taken to our pitch has it was our first visit. The pitch #11 by the river side was spacious and provided a great view of the river, along with plenty of green space in front, adding to the feeling of space of the site. When we had an issue with the electrics, we called reception and someone came to sort it within 5 mins, they also offered to help us get the tent up :-). The facilities were well thought out, with a lot of attention to detail. Bike park with cycle maps, music in the shower/toilet block, drinking water (from their own well) available at several points. Wi-Fi was available for purchase and although the coverage was slightly patchy you can't fault £7 for up to 10 devices for 3 days. The burger van open Friday and Sat, serving the best burger I've had in a long time, using locally sources meat. It's clear the people working here love the place and want you to enjoy it. Highlights: Plenty of space. Nature (ducks, birds, the river and great trees). It gets really quiet really quickly in the evening. Star gazing. Meadow for dog walking.
