Medium Tent - Serviced Grass Tent PitchesMay 2024

Lovely location overlooking the sea. Plenty of things for our 6 year old to do in the evening. Showers and toilets were in good condition, with plenty of space for the camping area.

The site was lovely. Toilets and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and there were plenty of dog walking areas. Down side was a noisy pitch, as road noise was constant night and day. Also as we were on a high up pitch, the car was needed to get to water disposal area as too far to carry.

Not for us

This is a beautiful park in a wonderful location and toilet blocks etc are spotlessly clean but we felt it was let down badly by a few points and for these reasons we won't go back. 1. There is no Internet on general site (only in Pub on site) unless you pay for it (which wasn't mentioned) We did pay but the quality of service was extremely poor and we ended up giving up on the WI-FI! 2. Unfortunately the park rules around loud music etc etc do not seem to be enforced. We had to endure loud parties with music blaring all day and well into the night coming from quite a few of the static vans on site, which didn't make for a peaceful break. 3. Unfortunately, the dogs on leads policy again did not seem to be enforced. There were quite a few very large dogs running around and no sign of any owners to pick up mess they left behind!

Nice park but not a good plot

Lovely park. Very clean and friendly staff. The biggest bugbear was the pitch we were allocated felt like we were parked in a car park. No views of the water at all - with a big banking behind us. If we were only stopping one night, it would not have been so bad, but 3 nights with an exceptionally noisy, busy road and no view wasn't good. The beach is a tiny sandy/shingle space

Beautiful location, must be lovely with the sun. Unfortunately not the best for motorhomes, we felt the park is too steep to comfortably walk, and the tourer area is on top of the hill. Reaching pool facilities and restaurants, and mainly coming back, it's not for everyone. Road is also very close, with a constant lorries noise.

Wasn't the best weather during our visit but we were impressed with the site. Clean, lots of great facilities on site and friendly staff. Showers were good, hot and clean. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Bar was clean, efficient service and friendly staff. Food was good. We will be back.

A well kept park with great facilities. The beach is stunning but there is a bit of a steep path down to it. Disappointed that we couldn't see the sea from our pitch, and being so close to the A75, traffic noise was quite annoying and did disturb our sleep. Site was not very busy so no problems with showers or toilets, not sure how the usage would stretch out at a busy time.

Very disappointed stay

Single Axle Caravan - Serviced Hardstanding Touring PitchesApr 2024

Very nice, well kept site. However, it is very close to main route to the ferry terminal, with a constant stream of lorries throughout the night keeping us up every night. On 3 occasions, we went to use the facilities for an evening meal, however I felt there was very little to choose from. I made 3 choices, only to be told they were not available. I settled on soup, which was ok, apart from the stale bread. We twice attended the entertainment, first time was the quiz night, the only consolation was that we would have won as we were the only 2 there. 2nd night was Bingo at Β£20 per game, even if we played bingo, we felt that Β£20 is on the expensive side. Although I appreciate it is early on in the season, I felt the prices should reflect the availability of the services you are paying for. In a final note, the location of the site is Castle Douglas but you are actually 19 miles from Castle Douglas, not ideal when planning the weeks activities.

Fantastic, clean and attractive

Me, my wife and our 2 kids stayed. Facilities were fantastic, location was beautiful and the views was fantastic. There was only 1 minor issue. I rated standard of service 3 stars, only due to the dinner. They only do pizzas for take away after a certain time, which we found a bit awkward with my son being a very picky eater ,with certain food he can't eat (he had no food for nearly 14 hours). We asked if we could order a pizza to sit in with us while we had food from the same restaurant, but was told he would have to sit outside πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I did raise my concerns with the restaurant manager and after been told multiple times we could not eat it in the restaurant we finally come to an arrangement. This is the only campsite I have been to where you can't order pizza to sit in the restaurant. Although the campsite was fantastic I would probably look for another campsite that would accommodate less picky eaters.

Amazing place

This has to be one of the prettiest sites I have stayed at. The A75 can be a bit noisy when the ferries come in as the wagons seem to travel in convoy from Stranraer, but if you're in the lower touring section, it's fine - even up the top I think it'd be ok. It was absolutely fine overnight! The facilities are spotless and there's loads of showers and toilets. The showers are proper showers too. No ridiculous button to press!!! The sports bar isn't chic, but it's like a blissful blast from the past and stacked full of TVs and a recovered (looks like new) pool table. The entertainment venue is sport on for what it is. We tended to be in the sports bar though. Take away food is made from the main kitchen, it's fine, but we tended to cook - quite simple stuff, not stupid expensive but not cheap. The restaurant/bar has incredible views, words don't do the view justice. Drinks are reasonable for a holiday park. The shop on site is really well stocked. Not as cheap as your local super market, but very reasonable process considering its location, and a fraction of most large holiday parks. We'll definitely be back, I think they've got a perfect sweet spot of making money but not ripping the customer off. We all loved it and are really looking forward to coming back.

Great spot

The staff were friendly and very helpful. Great fun with the grandkids, I will definitely come back with them. Good sized pitches and the toilets were spotless. The food and bar drinks were reasonably priced and had large helpings.

Single Axle Caravan - Serviced Hardstanding Touring PitchesOct 2023

We really enjoyed our stay at the park, however, we're really disappointed with the freezing cold swimming pool! Had pre-booked swimming however, they had a boiler issue and the pool was extremely cold, yet still was charged full price which I didn't think was right as it was not enjoyable! Swimming pool also had lots of dirt floating in it and the changing rooms were not very clean. Otherwise, we enjoyed the location and would stay again.
