Based on a quiet working farm, Shay Gate Farm Campsite looks out over countryside with access to great walks and bike rides. It's a dog and family friendly spot, 20 minutes from Skipton and 30 minutes from the beautiful Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. For keen walkers and hikers, the Pennine Way is also only 20 minutes away. Campfires are welcome too, perfect for an evening under the stars!

We stayed 2 nights on a bank holiday weekend, fairly busy at first but the wet weather saw people pack up early. Due to the rain we had to park on the track just a short walk from the tent (about 50 yards) The ground was pretty saturated so there were some muddy shoes around. Toilets and showers were clean and comfy, and the communal fridge was a great thought! Plenty of space for kids to play, very family and dog friendly 3 pubs serving good food 20 min walk away and some beautiful country side to explore.

I love this site. The owners are so welcoming and helpful. The site is hilly but I was sited on a reasonably flat pitch which my levellers sorted. The facilities are quirky but once you work out what works for you, they’re fine….fab showers lacking places to put your stuff but with 2 hooks and over the door to use, it works ok. I liked that I was in a separate camper section. It was a bit quieter albeit I don’t mind hearing kids having fun on a bank holiday. Views are fab. Grass is n great condition. I love it.

The site was not what I expected, it was much more. The facilities are close by for all camping there, the grass was kept low and healthy. The young lady, who worked day and night to ensure all was well with her guests, was constantly cleaning up and making sure everyone was attended to. Very attentive lady. We only stayed 1 night to try out our new tent and had only just returned from a week away elsewhere. I would recommend this site and we will use it much more often as we are locals.

Great site with fantastic views. Facilities are basic, but adequate and kept clean. Lots of hot water via the combi boilers located in the trailers. I made the mistake of pitching next to the road, which is 60mph and can be very noisy. Overall good and would recommend.

This is a lovely site with amazing views, the facilities are basic but very clean. We are a family of 4 and everyone had a great time. My sisters car wouldn't start to come home and the owner kindly gave her a jump start, thank you.

Overall nice campsite, staff/owners very friendly, showers & toilets great quality and cleanliness. Some parts of the field were quite muddy and slanted, but we managed to find space for a couple of cars and tents. Only con, albeit a large one, was that the 10pm noise curfew was not enforced, with large groups playing music well past 1am on both nights we stayed.

I had an excellent week despite "only average" weather. Despite the following suggestions for improvement, I would recommend Shay Gate Farm to anyone looking for a fairly basic site with few frills, and more affordable than many that overcharge for simple tent camping. The people were friendly and helpful. It would have been nice to have an electric hook-up but, as I went well-equipped with battery powered lighting, it was not a serious issue. The main difficulty was phone and tablet charging. There were a couple of charging points but it meant either leaving a phone unattended or standing around nearby. Some kind of secure charging arrangement would help. It was good, though, to have a refrigerator available. For part of my time there (end of season) when I first arrived the site was almost almost empty but suddenly it filled up for bank holiday weekend. On my arrival, the condition of the washing area (good facilities in converted horse trailers) left something to be desired but it was cleaned up, well ready for the crowds, suggesting a little inconsistency, but maybe I'm being over demanding. Overall, I was very pleased and if revisiting the area would definitely be happy to pitch my tent again at Shay Gate Farm.

Positives were that the site is set in a beautiful location a couple minutes from Colne by car. Very quiet for August because of the rain. We stayed for three nights and were the only people there on the second night, and one of only two the following day. Adequate toilets and showers but would be interesting to see if they would be sufficient if the campsite was full. Negatives were that the site was situated next to a road and although not incredibly busy, it is in constant use, so because we were told to park our camper and stay in the car park due to the boggy nature of the grass areas, the road noise was a distraction. The toilets were not cleaned at all over the three nights we were there, although as previously mentioned, the site was not very busy, so this may have played a part. The main reason we won't be back is because on the third night, I was in bed (10.30 pm) when there was a loud knock on the van window and was asked to open up. We were asked to prove we had booked as they had no record of us. Bearing in mind there were only two couples on the site, it may have been slightly politer to have made the enquiry earlier in the evening. This was quite upsetting for my partner.

On arrival, it's just a quick call to let them know you've arrived, I love how you can pick your own spot! The grass is well-kept (better than my lawn). The pegs themselves are massive we had a 6 berth tent and a van and still plenty of room. The toilets on site are toilets, not portaloo and very clean! The rubbish bins are all well-marked and easy to get to. Absolutely loved the idea of the shared washing-up area, very quirky. And the shower box, just genius. Away from everything, but close enough to get to. Lots of local chippys and pubs close by. Will definitely go back.

Shay Gate Farm is a very peaceful, well looked after campsite with stunning views. The camp manager was very friendly and you could see she was very busy bringing fire pits to other campers. Having access to showers and full working toilets made it even more of a joy. We set up our little van with the back door open facing over the valleys. If you are looking for a nice, peaceful and tranquil stay then I would recommend staying here.

Really impressed with the facilities at this campsite. Lovely, clean flushable toilets with hand-wash facilities. Great hot shower in the morning in the converted sheep trailer! There was quite a few people there, but didn't need to queue at any time. Firepit service was really handy. For the price of the pitch, I'm not sure how anyone could complain. There is a quiet policy after 10pm, so wouldn't be the place for a loud party. Will be back.

Lovely basic campsite with a stunning view. The facilities were well kept and clean every time we went it. The girl who was running the place was lovely and very helpful. Loved the fact they had different food trucks visit. Also had a walk up to the Emmet Arms which was a very nice pup and only 15 min walk.
