About Hole Station Campsite

The site offers woodland camping, with all pitches set in clearings. The pitches are so far apart there is absolutely zero chance of you tripping over next door's guy lines, and that's even if you can see the pitch next door - the space at Hole Station is a total eye opener for those who have only camped on 'open' field campsites. Your pitch also has a ready erected kitchen shelter so you don't have to worry about trying to light a fire in the rain. Fire pits, cooking grills and private loos (including a privacy tent) can also be rented from reception, just remember to bring matches and toilet paper. The really unique thing about Hole Station is that you can't see the campsite even when you're looking directly at it - it's the trees, thousands of them, saplings to ancient oaks! This is an adult only site so being woken at 6am by kids playing is out of the question. You're on holiday so if you want to sleep in then sleep in, nobody is going to stop you! Hammocks are welcomed, there's no shortage of trees to hang them from. In fact, you can put whatever you like such as awnings, gazebos and the like on your pitch, charges are per person so no hidden extras, it's all included in your pitch fee. The site cafe is a great way to set yourself up for the day, and you can even order delicious home made pre-cooked, heat then eat evening meals. There are double wheeled mega barrows to help transport your gear from your car to your pitch. Just park up at one of the unloading points and then put your car back in the car park. Please note that the site is unable to accept tents measuring over 7m x 5m. Up to two dogs are welcome per pitch, but they must be kept on a short lead at all times on site as there is livestock on site, including horses, goats, sheep and chickens.

Hole Station Campsite is open from 31/05 to 07/09.

A note from the site themselves...

We are very much about giving everyone space to unwind. We try and avoid packing people in so there is plenty of space to explore without the fear of tripping over guy ropes or tent pegs. We are also proud to host a great range of flora and fauna so our guests can be immersed in outdoor life. We hope to welcome you soon, Greg

Medium Tent - Tent PitchesAug 2023

What a lovely place to camp, it was beautiful and so quiet. The owners couldn't be more helpful and what a lovely little café they have on site. All in all, I would highly recommend staying here. 10/10 - will definitely be back.

Site's response

Thank you Robert, look forward to seeing you next time.

Would definitely recommend if you like rural or wild(ish) camping!

Large Tent - Tent PitchesJul 2023

In short, a really enjoyable stay with everything you need. On arrival we were greeted by Greg, who gave us a quick tour of the shared facilities. He then gave us a laminated sheet and explained we can pick any pitch we like that wasn't crossed off. We walked along a path through the woods where there were many pitches of different sizes which were all far apart from each other. Once we picked we told Greg and started to unpack. There were unloading spaces to park the car at the edge of the woods with giant wheelbarrows for you to use to unload your things (very helpful). The car was then moved to the carpark which is where reception is. We booked the bring your own tent option which the pitch itself had a shelter, camp fire, tripod grill, bench and its own compost loo in a pop up pod. Shared facilities. Everything is set up to be as eco as possible which aligns with what it says on the website. Shared toilets are compost toilets which have separate male and female. Electric showers are in separate cubicles which only need to be booked if the site is busy. There's a tap to fill water bottles, recycling facilities (plastic bottles are not recycled), a freezer to store freezer blocks for cool boxes, 2 sinks for washing up with a hot water tank that you can put on to boil and turn off when you're done. Also 2 lockable charging boxes that you can charge your devices in for free! Not to mention the café, which serves breakfast 8-10.30am (I think) There's also a notice board explaining some rules and the most local amenities. Lots of information provided all round and I learned a lot about the woodland and the benefits of eco living. We really enjoyed our stay in nature! Lots of wildlife around (as you'd expect in the woods!) and really quiet. You'd almost forget there were other people there because you're spaced so far apart.

Site's response

Thank you Stacey, pleased you enjoyed your stay.

Top marks!

Friendly and funny owner. Great place to stay if you want to feel you are alone. Very thoughtfully laid out. Goats, sheep, horses and chickens to make friends with. Eco friendly sustainability top notch. Amusing signs everywhere for those eco newbies amongst us 😁

Site's response

Thank you, glad you liked the signs, more are planned (evil laugh)!
