The campus is well placed for visiting local attractions, including Portobello Beach's promenade, cafés and restaurants, around ten minutes away by car. There's also a handy shop, bar, and restaurant onsite, too.

About the site


Nestled within the beautiful grounds of Mortonhall Estate, this campsite offers a peaceful countryside escape just a short drive from Edinburgh city centre, with easy access to scenic woodland walks and open green spaces. It's a popular choice for visitors attending the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe each August, while also serving as an ideal base for exploring the city or enjoying a relaxing break surrounded by nature. Accommodation is provided in spacious bell tents, each sleeping up to four guests. At five metres wide and just under three metres high, the tents offer a cosy yet comfortable stay, with beds and bedding included. Onsite facilities are extensive, including a fully stocked shop, restaurant and bar, laundrette, BBQ shed, secure lockable lockers, and convenient charging stations, plus much more to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free stay. Guests can also enjoy a dedicated chill-out area, with evenings perfect for unwinding around the campfire or dining alfresco under the stars. Please note, dogs are not permitted in the bell tents.

The site also features a well-stocked licensed shop offering everyday essentials, fresh food, snacks and drinks, making it easy to pick up anything you need during your stay. In addition, the on-site Stable Bar and Restaurant provides a welcoming space to enjoy meals, drinks and a relaxed atmosphere after a day exploring.

For added convenience, guests have access to a fully equipped campers' kitchen, dishwashing areas, and a laundrette, making longer stays simple and hassle-free. There is also Wi-Fi available, water points, and practical facilities throughout the site to support a comfortable camping experience.

Additional features include a Nordic-style BBQ hut available for hire, children's play areas, and extensive open space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. With excellent transport links, including a regular bus service into Edinburgh just a short walk from the entrance, getting to and from the city is quick and easy.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Other rules

Smoking, vaping, and open flames are not allowed within 5 meters of the Bell Tents. BBQs are permitted in designated areas only. Bins will be provided for all guests. Please note, no amplified music is allowed between 10pm and 7am. The campsite is a quiet zone from 11pm onwards to ensure a peaceful environment for all.
