Riverside Chalet and Caravan Park is next to the River Blackwater, with some of the Munro mountains almost on your doorstep, plus great fishing, hiking and mountain biking at the Strathpuffer 24. Down by the river you can watch the local heron who loves to fish or try swimming and paddling. Also in reach are Loch Ness, the Cairngorms and the lovely Isle of Skye.

A beautiful wee spot by the river. The hosts were lovely and welcoming. Close to great trails for hiking and running. The local chip shop was excellent too!

Stayed overnight on our NC 500 road trip and it is ideally located. Martyn is a very helpful and welcoming host and his campsite along black river is very pleasant.

Lots of great places within easy hiking distance - Rogie Falls, Achilty Loch and Strathpeffer. Nice little village shop right next door. Great fish and chip shop opposite the petrol station nearby.

Never knew about this campsite. Searched local campsites near Ben Wyvis and found this little haven. Has all the facilities that you need, plus there's a shop and local fish and chip shop within walking distance. Will definitely come back and would recommend to fellow campers.

Perfect place for a quiet break. Only problem was the midges but was worth it, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

After canoeing on the Spey for three days and was using the time to go round the NC500 on my motorbike. Wanted a place to switch activities and start the NC500. This was a perfect location. Host was first class and very friendly making me feel welcome. Never sure when on a motorbike, but soon made at home. Compact and secure campsite adjacent to the river making it relaxed and nice. Not many kids (been there and done that) so pleasant and not noisy. Would love to use this campsite again in future - perfect stopover, many thanks.

Martyn and Deborah who own the site are a really nice, laid-back couple. I've met other people here who come back time and again. It's nicely tucked away with the river on the edge of the campsite. You only have to glance up to see the Red Kites showing off their flying skills. If you're into mt biking there's a forest just down the road, with some good forestry tracks. Or walk through it to visit the spectacular Rogie Falls and Fish Ladder, to assist the salmon on the way to spawn. I'll be back next year, I enjoy places with their own character.

I would have loved to have stayed longer but I took a tumble while boat fishing and broke a rib. Thereafter, sleeping in a tent was not an option, so sadly I had to cut my holiday short. I would definitely recommend the site.

Lovely location by the river - just up the road is Strathpeffer, beautiful town & surrounding hills, if you fancy a walk. Met owner on arrival at campsite, very helpful, as was Julie (who was living on-site, but about to move-on). Small shop just outside site was very convenient and seemed to sell everything. With facilities, it's all about personal taste. Toilet block was a very old building. Showers give a plentiful supply of 'free' hot water, with no need to continually push the on button, but the ladies' showers opened-up directly onto campsite with only an ill-fitting door protecting your privacy. Appreciate this might not bother some, but for us, would prevent a return back.
Site's response
Thanks for your review. To be honest, nobody has actually mentioned your concern about privacy, and we have no reported incidents of peoples privacy being compromised. All the doors lock from the inside as you would expect and you would have to work quite hard to force the door open when someone is inside. We do make incremental improvements to the site each year and one of those improvements will be the doors.

Used as a base for hill walking. Ideal site for those content with good solid amenities, without any bells and whistles. A great welcome from the site owners. The site is well-maintained and very very quiet, all you hear is the sounds of the birds and the flow of the river.

The site is situated next to a river bank which only added to the quiet site. Facilities were good and there is a local shop just outside the gates if you need anything. The site is secure with a code so you have no worries of anyone getting in. The only disappointment was the weather, otherwise I would recommend this site for anyone visiting Scotland.

Used this site as a stop over prior to Ullapool to catch the ferry. Small, but had everything we needed and was clean and very pleasant. Would certainly recommend.

We stayed here for two nights in our campervan. It was nice and quiet. The park is quite basic, but we knew that before we booked after reading the reviews. The toilets were kept very clean and tidy. Clare was very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. She advised us of nice places to visit and she looked after the guests.
