Situated on a farm overlooking the Galloway Hills, and just a stones throw to the Galloway Forest Park where you'll find walking trails and award winning cycle tracks. With plenty of gardens, castles, and stately homes close by to enjoy, along with some amazing beaches. Fishing nearby and excellent distillery tours.

About the site

The pods are situated on a 100 acre farm surrounded by natural wildlife and scenic views. Two pods sleep up to two adults, while the family pods accommodate two adults and up to two kids. There are also pods with electric hot tubs available, and some have pergolas over them. Each is heated and well insulated and comes with a kitchenette including a sink, electric hob, fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster, along with all cutlery and crockery. A double bed with bed linen and towels is provided in each, along with complimentary toiletries, a double sofa bed for the kids, and the addition of bunk beds in the family pod. All of the pods feature an ensuite with a hot shower, toilet and wash basin. Enjoy a romantic night in front of the log burner while you sit back and watch television or just simply stargaze. Outside on the patio area, take in the views while sitting at the table enjoying your morning coffee, while in the evening, enjoy the BBQ and glass of wine while the sun sets and the stars appear. You can add a range of packages to your stay. Choose from a breakfast hamper, supplies for the BBQ or a special occasion pack which comes with prosecco, deluxe chocolates and a banner or balloon for your special day. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, as the site is a haven for hares, buzzards, wild birds, red squirrels, deer, foxes and badgers. Dogs are welcome but must be on the lead at all times.

A note from the site themselves...

We had an idea of owning a glamping site, and with a lot of thought and planning in 2020, we created Barnharrow Holiday Pods.

We wanted a site where guests can relax, recharge and reconnect along with home-from-home comforts and not worry about wandering to a toilet block in the middle of the night. Located in a rural location with stunning views, you can disconnect from city life and reconnect with nature.

We are a little bit of luxury at a price you can afford!

Just on our way home from our wee break in the beautiful 'Daisy' pod. There are no words to describe how amazing and outstandingly clean and well equipped this pod is. The bed is so comfy and the shower is really powerful . The way the pod is situated is really private . It's so peaceful with spectacular views and the hot tub was to die for . We have been really lucky with the weather but l imagine even in the cooler months it would be really cosy with the log burner. We can not fault it, just wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back.

Glamping Pod - Family Ensuite Glamping Pod with Hot Tub (Dog Friendly)Jul 2025

This was our first time glamping—and after this experience, it certainly won’t be our last! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautifully presented, well-equipped, luxurious pod. The attention to detail from Emily and Andy was exceptional—clearly hosts who know exactly how to create a relaxing escape. The surroundings were wonderfully tranquil; the kind of silence where you realise it’s just nature calling.. The weather was kind, so we spent most of our time outside—either lounging on the patio or soaking in the hot tub. Although we did venture out to explore, we found ourselves wanting to get back to the pod to simply relax. The shower deserves a special mention—powerful, modern, and just what you need after a day of adventuring (or doing absolutely nothing, which we highly recommend). Remarkably, we didn’t turn the TV on for two whole days—and we didn’t even miss it! We brought along our 2-year-old Boxer, who has never been this relaxed. Not a single bark in two days! He was treated like a VIP (Very Important Pup) with his own bowl, blankets, and plenty of scenic walks. We’ll definitely be booking again— though next time for a longer stay.

Check-in is between 4pm until 6pm, if you are delayed please let the site know. Check out is due before 10am on your final day.
Yep, up to two well behaved dogs are welcome per pod for an additional fee. Dogs must be kept on the lead at all times whilst onsite and not left unattended. Please note that breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act are not accepted, nor are dogs under the age of one.
Of course! Each pod has an BBQ/fire pit area outside. Firewood for the log burner and fire pit, and charcoal for the BBQ can be purchased onsite.
The site caters for families and couples only and does not accept group bookings. This includes hen and stag parties.
There is a quiet time between 10pm and 8am.

No, sorry your pod will not have WiFi. This gives guests a chance to spend some time away from their devices and the digital world.
There isn't a shop onsite, but a ten minute drive away is Kirkcowan village where there is a village shop for all of your essentials. If you are looking for a wider variety, there is a Sainsbury's a 20 minute drive away.
There isn't a restaurant or cafe at the site, but you can find a pub in Kirkcowan village, a ten minute drive away.
No, Barnharrow Holiday Pods do not have electric vehicle chargers.

Things to do on site and in the Newton Stewart area

There is so much to do and see in Dumfries and Galloway. Enjoy the 7Stanes mountain bike trials at Kirroughtree or simply just take one of the walking trails around the forest park then stop off at the cafe for a coffee and piece of cake!

The Red Deer Park and Otters Pool are another great day out.

There is fishing at The Three Lochs Park which is close by. Logan Fish Pond at Port Logan is another place to visit.

For children, the Cream O Galloway Visitors Centre at Gatehouse of Fleet is great fun along with the Childrens Chocolate Factory at Twyholm. There are also many sandy beaches to explore at Sandhead, Monreith, Port William and Garlieston.

Visit the many book shops at Wigtown, Scotlands Book Town.

Visit Glenham Gardens, Castle Kennedy and Logan Botanic Gardens.

Enjoy 'Gin' then visit Crafty Gin Distillery at Newton Stewart or if you prefer whisky then head to Bladnoch Whisky Distillery.

Many golf courses for to you enjoy at St Medans, Stranraer, Wigtownshire and Three Lochs.
