Enjoy a lakeside, off-grid stay at Rum Bridge Glamping and Fishery, located five minutes from Clare town and 40 minutes from Cambridge. Choose from a range of camping pods, bell tents and a shepherd's hut, each with simple interiors, proper beds, solar electric and fire pits or BBQs. There is access to a communal kitchen and two well-stocked fishing lakes stocked with carp, trench, bream, and perch, plus various wildlife! Dogs are welcome too.

About the site


Switch off and unwind at this off-grid glamping site. Set around two lakes, guests can enjoy wildlife spotting, fishing in two well stocked fishing lakes (an Environment Agency rod licence is required) and a hire space for groups. The site offers a range of off-grid glamping units, including camping pods, bell tents and a shepherd's hut, and quirky concept vehicles - Armadillo and Queenie. The units are spaced out across the site to ensure peace and quiet, with views of lakes, ponds and meadows. All have access to a handy communal 'field kitchen', free WiFi, along with private outdoor seating areas and fire pits or BBQs. Bedding is provided, but towels are not supplied (so be sure to bring along your own), with shared toilet and shower facilities a short walk away. Sleeping two and dog friendly, Ed's camping pod offers two single beds, a kettle, mugs, and electricity. Harts and Valerie's camping pod sleeps three and is equipped with a king sized bed, an optional futon/sofa, a mini fridge, a kettle, mugs, and electricity. All camping pods have a fishing pitch included! The Nest and The Shrub bell tent (4m) includes a king sized bed, a small fridge, a kettle, mugs, a rug, ponchos, and electricity and room for up to two adults and a child. For five people, you can opt for The Quirky Carp bell tent (5m) on the edge of the Moat lake and featuring a king sized bed, two singles, and electricity. Stockies 4m bell tent, set beside the Stock pond, has a king sized bed and space for an additional single bed, electricity, and a bedside lamp. There is also a shepherd's hut accommodating up to three people and equipped with rustic interiors, a cosy double bed and the option of an additional single. Inside, you will find furniture, a wardrobe, mirror, kettle, and infrared heating. Queenie and The Armadillo are the most interesting accommodation's onsite. Queenie being a dog friendly converted railway carriage (featured on 'George Clarkes Amazing Spaces) an The Armadillo, a converted Bedford army truck both sleeping 4 people with wood burning stoves in-side to keep you warm in the colder months. Days out can be spent exploring Clare village, a short 20 minute stroll away, with shops and eateries. Melford Hall is 15 minutes away, a Tudor house previously owned by the family of Beatrix Potter. Up to two dogs are welcome in the dog friendly glamping accommodation.

Shrub and Stockies bell tents are open March to October. All other units are open all year.

Facilities include toilets, hot showers, a washing up area, and a fully kitted communal field kitchen with a communal fridge, kettle, air fryer, gas hob, toaster and ice pack freezer. The kitchen also features an indoor and outdoor area to eat in. Free WiFi is available throughout the site. Guests can use the two fishing lakes (day and night fishing passes) stocked with carp, trench, bream, and perch. There is also a hire space for private groups, families, and work.

Clare village is within a 20 minute walk with a range of shops and eateries, including SmallTown coffee shop, The Cock Inn and a Co-op.
