About the site

This comfortable hut is centrally positioned for exploring The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB. Its nearest town is picturesque Ruthin, and the pretty inland resorts of Llangollen and Bala are only 30 minutes away. Sleeping two, the hut is stylish, practical and cosy. The comfortable bed comes with a memory foam mattress and a 100% British wool duvet to keep you nice and cosy. Fully electric, the kitchenette includes a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Outside you can cook up a treat with the BBQ grid over the firepit. Placing the 'Jean Patrique' lazy pan on top of the grid lets you rustle up bacon and eggs and all sorts of treats over the campfire! You can even buy the farm's free range eggs in the little honesty shop to cook for breakfast. Fairtrade coffee and teas are supplied and a little jug of milk for your cuppa on arrival. Also included are marshmallows and a campfire starter pack with firewood, firelighters and matches. Electric and WiFi is all provided too. An electric stove heats up the shepherd's hut quickly for instant fuss free warmth. Double glazed French doors and windows and full insulation make the hut suitable for all year round stays. The luxury bathroom facilities are located inside the amenity Hut, only 20m along a well lit gravel path. A generous sized walk in shower, flushing toilet, towels and handmade soap are provided for you. Also located in the amenity Hut is a book swap and a little honesty shop selling some fine Welsh foods from small food and drink producers. If the weather is a bit wet and windy, you can snuggle up in the sheltered seating area - Cwtch. Take in those amazing views and embrace the outdoors even if the sun isn't quite shining. Fairy lights inside the Cwtch adds to this cosy yet practical feature within the glamping site. The picturesque inland resort of Llangollen which offers river walks, a steam train and horse drawn canal trips is only 30 minutes away. Water based activities such as kayacking are also popular In Llangollen along the River Dee. The lakeside resort of Bala is another watersports hub! Both Llangollen and Bala have an array of eateries and bars and are vibrant and bustling towns well worth a visit. OnePlanet Adventure at Llandegla Forest is just a 20 minute drive away. Mountain biking, trail running and forest walks a plenty before a visit to the superb onsite cafe. A trip to the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB wouldn't feel complete without a hike up Moel Famau its highest peak. Superb views and a wide well maintained path makes it a comfortable and easy 40 minute hike up. The hut is pet free, but the owners can recommend an excellent kennel nearby.

"This was perfect in every way. Cannot recommend highly enough"

A note from the site themselves...

It was the stunning far-reaching views from this spot on our family farm that made us think we had something really special here that we could share with others.

This beautiful part of North Wales is a bit of a hidden gem. From Cae Main Shepherd's Hut (Cae Main is the name of the field….it means long field in Welsh) you can admire the spectacular Clwydian Range chain of mountains

So together with the sense of open spaces, fresh air and the natural environment, I wanted to create a private glamping destination for guests. I definitely did not want to create a street of glamping pods. With just one shepherd's hut set in its own vast paddock, next door to the sheep, guests can enjoy the whole place for themselves.

I love providing guests with a space to unwind, relax and connect with nature and the outdoors. I also wanted to create a stylish and homely feel and tried to think of things guests needed for a comfortable stay.

I'm so pleased that many refer to the "comfy bed", "everything you need", "beautiful views" and the "home from home" nature of their glamping experience here at Cae Main Shepherd's Hut.

I look forward to welcoming you to our special slice of North Wales.
