Enjoy a relaxing adult only glamping getaway at Hewn Yorkshire, nestled on the outskirts of Richmond. The pods are split into two areas onsite, The Foxwood (pet friendly) and The Quarry (pet free). Each comes fully furnished, sleeping up to two with a proper double bed, kitchenette, ensuite and more. You will even have a private fire pit and wood-fired hot tub. For an extra touch of luxury, you can hire The Sauna for private use!

About the site

Nestled into an old quarry and surrounded by woodland, this adult only glamping site is a hidden gem in North Yorkshire with easy access to the Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. There are also a range of country pubs within a five minute drive, with Richmond just 15 minutes away too. All of the pods sleep up to two with a cosy double topped with a Yorkshire made mattress and bedding. You will also have a Smart TV with a DVD player, perfect for a cosy evening watching a film. Each ensuite will also have a flushing toilet, shower, hand basin, a heated towel rail and towels. A fully equipped kitchenette provides you with everything you need for cooking up a tasty meal. It includes a fridge, freezer box, two ring hob, sink, microwave, toaster, kettle, glassware, dinnerware, pots, pans and utensils. Step outside of the pods and you will find a private patio area with a dining table and chairs, with The Quarry pods also coming with two Nordic deck chairs. For cooking al fresco, each pod has its own fire pit with a grill, and you will even have a pre-heated Finnish wood-fired hot tub for unwinding under the stars! The 11 pods are split into two areas, with The Foxwood being pet friendly and The Quarry being pet free. The Foxwood pods feature a dining table and chairs with an electric panel heater and ensuite wet room, whilst The Quarry pods have a modern renovated interior with velvet bench seating, two electric panel heaters and a luxury bathroom with a walk-in rainfall shower. Guests can enjoy a relaxing walk around The Meadow or take down a glass of wine to enjoy from one of the picnic benches. For ultimate luxury, hire The Sauna with its own outdoor deck with sun loungers and an outdoor shower. Completely private, it is the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors in style. Campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided. The pet friendly pods allow up to two dogs per unit, with dog tie rings featured under the canopy.

Each pod has its own ensuite featuring a toilet, shower, wash basin and towels. Wood-fired hot tubs are included and fire pits are also located outside every glamping pod. The Log Store on site stocks campfire essentials including logs and fire starter packs.

Guests can also enjoy 'The Meadow', a two acre space for walks with picnic benches, accessed by a woodland path. There is also a luxury Kirmai sauna and outdoor shower with a sun deck and loungers available to hire, also accessed by a private woodland path without being overlooked.

For picking up any essentials, Eppleby Village Shop and the Mainsgill Farm Shop are within a five minute drive. There are also multiple pubs within a five minute drive including The Brownlow Arms in Caldwell, The Cross Keys Inn at Eppleby and The Stanwick Arms at Aldbrough St John.

Hewn Yorkshire (previously known as Wigwam Holidays Forcett Grange) is a truly unique site - when we had the vision to create our glampsite down the disused quarry, people thought we were mad! But we've created a really special haven, a retreat from the world with a stunning backdrop like no other.

We love nothing more than enjoying the serenity from the wood-fired hot tubs, gazing upwards at the stars, and we love to share our passion for our site with all our guests, whether it's their first, fourth or fifth visit to us!

Just got back from this lovely 😍 site, and boy did it help me unwind! Located in an ideal place, as in no Wi-Fi, which personally was great, as our modern world turns more hectic, selfish and phone obsessed! 🤬 Pods, beautiful. Hot tubs, great. Sat under the stars and saw deer, bats, but be aware, lots of flies! But still great. BBQ is excellent & easy to use, and you must hire the sauna out! Mega-detox, and views awesome. You must try peeps! 👌

Glamping Pod - Quarry Ensuite Pods with Hot Tubs Apr 2025

Excellent, clean, staff helpful, very peaceful. Perfect to get away. Nothing in walking distance, pubs shops etc. but that is what a retreat is for. All positive, just one suggestion? Would be to add trellis etc, to separate pods in the quarry, as not very private.

Site rules

You can check-in between 3pm and 5pm only at Hewn Yorkshire so that all disruptions are kept to a minimum. Check out is by 10am the day of your departure please.
At Hewn Yorkshire, dogs are welcome onsite in the Foxwood pods, with a maximum of two permitted per booking. Dogs are not permitted in the Quarry pods.
At Hewn Yorkshire, each pod comes with a fire pit and grill that you are welcome to use, personal BBQs and campfires are not allowed. Fire starter packs and logs can be purchased onsite. The site asks that you only use firewood, no coal or charcoal is allowed.
When you arrive at Hewn Yorkshire, guests will need to head to reception to check-in. Details of this will be communicated to you before you arrive. You'll need to check out by 10am on the day of your departure.
Hewn Yorkshire does allow group bookings but Stag and Hen parties and groups of people aged between 18 and 21 years old are not permitted. If you wish to book more than one cabin, please enquire in advance.
Hewn Yorkshire is a silent site, so outdoor music and speakers are not permitted at any time. Please respect the comfort of other guests and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and when returning late.

At Hewn Yorkshire, there is parking available for one car per pod, this will be within 50m of your pod. Additional cars can be parked in the overflow car park.
Yes, the glamping units at Hewn Yorkshire each include all bedding and linens for your stay. Bathroom towels are provided but it's recommended you bring pool or beach towels to use with the hot tub.
