First trip away and with the dog
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Our first night away in our new to us camper van. Also our first trip at all in a campervan, especially with a dog that can sometimes be unpredictable. But all went well. Shown to our grass pitch following the man on a pushbike. Connected up and set up and there we were. Good toilet blocks and small shop for a much needed ice cream. Plenty of places to hop over the stile and walk the dog into the New Forest. Whilst only one night impressions were good and would look at coming back again.

Lovely, friendly site, just lacked WIFI - which is a bonus to some!
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches (No Awnings) May 2026 Lovely site, the kids LOVED the cycling. It was really safe, with lots of easy cycling, through wooded areas. Ponies right on the entrance to the site were a joy to watch. Amazing on site shop with well priced goods. Just missing one star for lack of Wifi at the pitches. I know many will say that camping is a chance to get away from the race of life, but in our case we needed to stay in touch with work and older children, so we rented Starlink which allowed this and for us to watch TV in the evenings after lovely days out!

The staff were great. They also dealt with a noisy crowd admirably. Lovely area around. Just a bit of a free for all when it comes to pitching. Would definitely explore other New Forest sites after this experience.
Very enjoyable visit
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches (No Awnings) May 2026 Overall a very enjoyable visit being our first time away in a Campervan so not entirely sure what to expect. Great facilities and didn’t have to queue once for the loos, showers or washing-up facilities. We enjoyed a take-away pizza one evening and found the shop to have a reasonable range of products and long opening hours. It is a huge site but we were in a reasonably quiet spot, not far from the facilities and with easy access to the New Forest within minutes.
A Nice Little Break
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches May 2026 Enjoyed our time at Holmsley. The staff were both friendly & helpful. The onsite shop had all the essentials and the amenities were clean & tidy also. Nicely situated, easy drive to the beach, motorbike & motor museums.
I would be happy to return again.
Great site with great facilities
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 This was our first trip away in our campervan and everything was great. The staff were very good when we arrived and we were escorted to our pitch and given all the info we needed.
The site has lots of amenities including a fully stocked shop, toilet and shower blocks, washing up area and laundrette.
Lots of electric hook ups if required.
Altogether a great experience.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2026 A quiet get away (although expect site busy during peak times). Large & spacious. Plenty of facilities around the site. Friendly staff & friendly guests. Open space around the site to see the ponies & plenty of dog walking areas. Ideal location for visiting the local villages & not too far to drive to the coast.

Easter break VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2026 The location was absolutely beautiful. The campsite was casual and friendly. However it was Easter weekend and one of the three blocks of toilets/ showers was closed which left only a few facilities for a packed site.
These were often unclean with rubbish being left in some shower cubicles. The shower was cold at busy times and I didn't like the push button shower tap which needed to be pushed every 30 seconds. The shower head was below me, so awkward washing my hair. The sinks were unclean by mid morning.
There was a bucket of water and mop, presumably to clean after oneself, however this was was filthy. The blocks were not heated and so were often cold, especially in the chilly evenings.
Dog facilities were excellent and walking as the sun sets was lovely. No place for an evening drink within walking distance, which was a shame, but walking among the wild horses made up for it.

Park was lovely for the kids & nice to have a shop/food onsite. Would stay again.
Solo tent, not ideal pitches
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Oct 2025 Very friendly and helpful staff and lovely clean toilet/shower facilities.
The only downer for me was the initial pitch I was given was very patchy (no grass) and had to give up after bending one of my tent stakes. This was in a large open field with camper vans opposite the checkin. The alternative pitch I was directed to had plently of grass but no flat ground.
If I had to stay there again I'd just explore and find a better pitch on my own initiative.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2025 Very diligent and above all friendly staff. We arrived around 6pm and the reception was closed, but the staff left full instructions and a welcome pack - even an email to welcome us.
We felt very welcome, facilities were spotless - a lovely quiet setting (sept), highly recommended.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Sep 2025 From the moment we arrived at Holmsley, we knew we'd chosen the right place. Julie at reception was absolutely fantastic - warm, welcoming, and full of local knowledge that made settling in effortless. She really set the tone for our stay, and throughout the trip every single member of staff we met was excellent: friendly, helpful, and clearly dedicated to keeping the site running smoothly.
The campsite itself exceeded our expectations. The pitches were spacious and well laid out, giving everyone plenty of room to relax. Facilities were spotless, modern, and well maintained, which made the whole experience comfortable and stress-free. We especially loved the peaceful atmosphere of the site - no noise, no hassle, just pure relaxation in a truly beautiful part of the New Forest.
Waking up each morning to the sight of ponies and wildlife wandering past our pitch was magical, and it really added to the feeling that this site is something special. The location is also excellent, with easy access to walking trails, villages, and all that the New Forest has to offer, yet the campsite itself feels quiet and tucked away.
Overall, our stay was everything we had hoped for and more. With staff like Julie leading the way, Holmsley has that extra personal touch that makes it stand out from other campsites. We left feeling completely refreshed and can't wait to return - highly recommended to anyone looking for a perfect New Forest break.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2025 Had a lovely stay, the only downside is the aircraft flying over at all hours which is part of a flight path! Just spoils the quietness of being in the New Forest with the gorgeous ponies! Facilities clean and staff very friendly.
