VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Wanted to try campervan experience at site located not far from home. Found ground and services as required for first campervan trial. Very clean and quiet location. Hour walk to any of 3 local pubs but no shops apart from on site shop for simple provisions.
Tranquil and relaxing, full of nature.
Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 We arrived on Thursday and set up in a lovely quiet area on grass.
It was absolutely lovely with many sightings of deer in the area and even right up to our unit. Lovely walks, cycled to The Green Dragon Pub which was nice as the roads were quiet.
Other pubs closer to walk/cycled to. Toilets very clean and basic. Staff all very friendly and chatty. Lovely little onsite shop with basics. Found it started to get busier Friday evening for the weekend, lots of children cycling around and a definite change in the noise level and tranquillity. Not complaining, it is what to be expected at weekends.
I will definitely go back during the week. Lovely little gem.
Lovely laid back campsite in the heart of the forest
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 So many positives. The location, price, site layout, ponies and deer, clean facilities and a basic shop
No real negatives. There are no showers, the site layout can be confusing and enforcement can be a little too zealous. Oh yes, and the ground is very hard for tent pegs.
We had a lovely few nights (even though we were told off for parking in the wrong place!). There were ponies and deer wandering through the site and it was very peaceful.
We were going day rides and the cycle paths are fabulous.

Clean campsite and pitches weren't super close together, which we liked. The man checking us in was slightly rude but maybe he just had a long day!
We would return.
Peaceful, with deer that visited the tents
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Lovely New Forest site, with easy access to forest paths for walks.
Deer were roaming around the tents (as well as the ponies) which was amazing to see. Toilets are clean and basic, no complaints. Showers would be good. The little shop sells fresh coffee for the morning, some breakfast items and ice cream.
No noise after 10 was adhered to, and the site manager walking round in the morning made it feel safe.
Enjoyable night's stay
Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 A very pleasant site. Very hot weather but could park up in some shade. Thrilled by ponies, horses, donkeys and deer roaming around.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Interesting site, previously a WW2 airfield. Concrete runways still in evidence. Shame no showers even if basic.

Particular mention goes to the reception and shop staff who operated to the standards of a five star hotel.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 We had a lovely stay, kids were happy. Beautiful area.
Only downfall would be when pitching a tent, it's ridiculously stony and a nightmare to get even the best tent pegs in the ground, so just be mindful of that when camping. Shop on site is super tiny so don't expect much from it.
Also, feel caravans should be made to stay in a caravan only area as a lot of them did take up the grass areas that should be for tents, making hard to find a pitch.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 One of the best campsites we have ever stayed at. Beautiful pitches and very clean facilities. Great that you can charge devices for free. It was also a great location for lots of walks and the ponies just make your stay even better.
First stay at Ocknell
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 First stay here. Fantastic welcome at check in. You pick your own pitch which was nice. Facilities were spotless. Good bins and labelling. Water and chemical points dotted around the site.
Good little shop selling essentials. It was a bank holiday weekend and busy but didn't feel that way. Definitely recommend.
Stunning place
Roof Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2025 Stumbled across this site the night before we booked. Upon arrival, staff were very friendly despite the poor chap getting wet. Plenty of spots to choose from and overall, very quiet. Loved the fact that there was horses wondering free around the site.
Definitely looking at booking again and coming back in the summer months to do some exploring.

Roof Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2025 Really friendly upon arrival. Flexible pitches in some pretty spots. Good washing facilities. Beautiful walks right outside the campsite. Will defo be coming again.

Toilet and washing up facilities - fantastic. Clean and lots of hot water. Not sure if there are shower facilities anywhere? That would be great. Lots of bins around.
Good little shop. Very friendly staff - appreciated. Saw a lot of deer, donkeys and horses! What a treat. Location great for Ringwood, Bournemouth, Southampton, Lyndhurst. But also, the old runways. Wonderful.
Value for money - excellent.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2024 Our stay here was wonderful. Location loses one star due to the closeness to A31 and traffic noise, but we knew that before booking.
The site is simple but friendly, clean and stunning. We can wholly recommend this site, especially for short stays.
Great one night stay
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2024 Staff were very welcoming. Others around the site were polite and respectful.
We did notice a very large group of 20 somethings who were playing loud music for around 20 mins, but I think someone must have said something to them and they turned it down. Very lovely one night away.

Perfect for the wildlife lovers
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2024 The campsite itself was enough for what we needed, although couldn't find a drinking tap? Basic facilities but we are used to camping with little to nothing anyway so it was nice to have the basics.
We struggled with the location of tent camping, hoped for some sunshine but had trees around us, that was a minimal problem.
Great arrival, friendly staff - can't fault them whatsoever.
The only thing we struggled with was a big group of families that played loud music and cooked beyond the time stated, screaming kids gone 11pm. The second night, they had their own karaoke and left their engines on with lights beaming onto our tents. We took it upon ourselves to ask to turn the car lights off. We did try and call the campsite on the first night but couldn't get through.
All in all, we still had a lovely stay in the wilderness with our young kids!
