Metal Bridge Pods is set on the grounds of a country pub just North of Cumbria. Five pods cater to all types of travellers whether you're solo, with a loved one or with your family. Kids from 3+. Each has comfy beds, seating and fairy lights, outside is a patio with a table and chairs. The Metal Bridge Inn offers drinks, food and a good atmosphere! Great for exploring both Cumbria and the Lakes as well as the Scottish borders. Dog friendly too.

About the site


A small site set North of Carlisle, offering a great base for exploring Cumbria and the Scottish borders by car. There is an onsite pub that serves a range of tasty food and drink so no need to worry about dinner! There are five camping pods onsite, one with twin beds and four with a double bed to suit all travellers. Inside each pod is seating, a coffee table, diesel heaters, USB charging ports and fairy lights. Bedding is included. Outside the pods is a covered decking area with seating. You're ideally located for day trips to both Cumbria and the Scottish borders so hop in the car and get exploring! The National Cycle Route 7 runs past the site too, so be sure to bring your bikes! Alternatively, Gretna Green is ten minutes away known as the marriage capital of the UK, perfect for those on a romantic break. Carlisle is just 20 minutes by car too. Your canine companion is welcome in all of the pods, please ensure that they are kept under control at all times and cleaned up after.

The site is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between April and September

There is a pub onsite which serves a range of food and drink. If you wish to self cater there are shops in Gretna, a 5 minute drive away.

Things to do on site and in the Carlisle area

For those looking for some outdoor adventures, there is the National Cycle Route 7 which runs straight past the site which runs from Sunderland all the way to Inverness! Or, if walking is more your thing, the Lake District can be reached within 50 minutes, full of scenic hikes.

Carlisle (20 minutes) is great if you're looking for a city to explore, Carlisle Castle is a must! Be sure to walk along the castle walls and visit the castle's military museum for some rich history. There are also a range of shops and restaurants for rainy days.

If you're looking for a bigger city to explore Newcastle can be reached within an hour. Gretna Green (10 minutes) is a village in Scotland known as the marriage capital of the UK and a romantic wedding destination, not forgetting Caledonia park for shopping!
