Our stay Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - All Weather XL Grass Pitches with Electric Sep 2024 Had a bit of a poor start as we arrived too early. The only downside to this site is not being allowed on until 3pm, but we could have paid an extra £5 and got on at 1pm?
Apart from that, it is a lovely clean and friendly site and only a short distance to Bakewell, which is a lovely little town and a cycle route (Monsal trail). You can hire bikes to do this.
Great site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding and Grass Pitches with Electric Aug 2024 The staff were really helpful and friendly. The site is located in a great position, five minute walk from the village. Had a great meal in the Crispin Arms. The farm shop was stocked with meats, eggs and cakes - an added bonus we thought!
I had seen a review regarding the communal showers/toilets but we thought this was a good idea for families and they were private so did not cause any problems. The facilities were immaculate.
Cannot wait to return and spend longer.
Great little campsite in a beautiful area Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hilltop Hardstanding and Grass XL Pitches with Electric Aug 2024 Lovely campsite, friendly staff and amazing views. Highly recommended. Good pubs within a 10 minute walk.
Great location Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Hilltop Hardstanding and Grass XL Pitches with Electric Aug 2024 Lovely site, location and welcome. Not sure about communal showers and toilets. This should be made clear on your information.
Good site with a steep gradient Recommends site
Small Tent - Hilltop Hardstanding and Grass XL Pitches with Electric Aug 2024 I stayed there during a warm August period and the location was ideal, less than 20 mins away from the stunning Monsal Dale and within 5 minutes from a 2 good pubs.
The site was very clean and there was a range of toilet/shower facilities as well as a toilet near to the hill top that the site is situated on. It was also very peaceful (except for the sheep!). However, it must be noted that if you are on the hilltop (where we were), whilst the views are very nice (for a couple of pitches in particular), the walk to get there after you have used the facilities is a little dangerous and should be discouraged for those with walking difficulties or have fragile bones. This is because the gradient is very steep and the large gravel on the path to this area is very loose. I fell over on this, hurting my ankle (despite wearing suitably gripped shoes) and I saw at least 3 other people slip and almost fall during my two nights there. I would advise this to be looked into by the site owners.
Overall, the site was in a nice location as well as being peaceful and plenty of facilities for what you need. However, if you are due to be on the hilltop, please be careful with your footing at all times.
Peak District 4 night stay Recommends site
Motorhome - All Weather XL Grass Pitches with Electric Aug 2024 Not happy with toilet/shower facilities being gender communal. Farm shop was a bit of a disappointment with few provisions available.
Well located for walking and cycling. The excellent Monsal Trail a short cycle away and a short cycle trip to Bakewell, also via Trail. Adequate bus availability and pubs within a 10 min walk.
Superb Recommends site
