Wildscape Retreat and Campsite is a simple site, located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and 30 minutes from the Lake District. The site offers back to basics non electric grass pitches suitable for tents, campervans and motorhomes. With peaceful views of the Cumbrian hills, you can relax onsite watching the farm animals, or cosy up around a campfire with your dogs and take in the surrounding nature. Just 30 minutes to Kendal.

About the site


This small, simple site set on a working sheep farm offers an escape from the hustle of the everyday. Located five minute drive from Ravenstonedale and 30 minutes from the Lake District, you can explore the countryside one day and relax onsite, taking in the views the next. Just 30 minutes from Wain Wath Force. The site has ten 8m x8m non electric grass pitches for tents and trailer tents, and three non electric 8m x 8m grass pitches suitable for campervans and motorhomes. There are four bell tents available that sleep up to five people. Two futon beds with foam mattresses with bedding and linens are provided by the site, any additional guests will need to bring their own beds and bedding. The bell tents are pet free. Located on a working sheep farm, you can watch the flock from some pitches, and there are opportunities to interact with farm animals and learn about rural life. There are plenty of local walks for differing abilities, as well as those looking to explore the Yorkshire Dales. The site doesn't have any showers, so guests will need to provide their own. Dogs are welcome to join you, with up to four per pitch. Campfires are allowed during your stay. BBQs are not permitted.

Please note that there are no showers onsite, guests will need to provide their own. The site facilities include a hut with a compost toilet and sink within the camping field and a washing up area. There opportunities to interact with farm animals and learn about rural life.

The closest shop is a Co-op a ten minutes drive away from the site. The King's Head is a 25 minute walk away from the site and serves food seven days a week.

Check-in is available from noon until 8pm, if you are going to be delayed please let the site know. Check out is due before 11am on your final day.

Yes, the camping pitches are dog friendly with up to four dogs permitted to join you on each pitch for an additional charge. Please ensure that dogs are kept on the lead at all times and not left unattended, and breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act are not permitted. The bell tents do not allow dogs, sorry.

Campfires and BBQs are permitted as long as they are raised off the ground.

Awnings, gazebos, and pup tents are welcome free of charge.

One car is permitted to park by your pitch, any additional cars must be parked in the designated parking area. Please note that a car is only included in the rate for touring caravans and tents, otherwise please select the extra.

Head out to the Lake District (30 minutes) and try you hand at some water sports, or visit The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (50 minutes) and immersive yourself in the land of Peter Rabbit.

Being set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park means there are plenty of walks, hikes and cycle paths of varying degrees of difficulty in and around the hills.

One walking look is the Newbiggin on Lune and Crosby Garret Circular, rated hard in difficulty, taking approximately five and half hours to complete and dog friendly (when kept on leads), this route is a great way to take in the surrounding area! The start is less than a five minute drive from the site.

Kendal town is a 30 minute drive from the site, where you can find restaurants, cafes, golf courses, and KendalWall, Lakeland Climbing Centres. There's something to keep everyone entertained.
