Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2026

The campsite is in a lovely setting and has the potential to be a really enjoyable place to stay, but unfortunately the standard of the facilities and the choice of pitch left a lot to be desired. I specifically requested a quiet pitch as I have a nervous working Cocker Spaniel who struggles with excessive noise. Despite making this clear, we were placed next to a family pitch with two parrots in two huge cages, which were frequently squawking and making a considerable amount of noise. I honestly have to question where the common sense was in allocating this pitch when I had specifically asked for somewhere quiet because of my dog. The shower and toilet facilities were also disappointing. They were dirty, grotty and clearly in need of much better cleaning and maintenance. The setting itself is lovely, but given the price of staying here — certainly top dollar in the camping world — I would expect the facilities and overall experience to reflect what you are paying. Unfortunately, the combination of the noise, unsuitable pitch and unclean facilities meant that we didn’t have the relaxing stay we had hoped for. With some attention to cleanliness, facilities and, importantly, better consideration of guests’ individual requirements when allocating pitches, this could be a much better campsite.

Site's response

Many thanks for your review. I am sorry your stay here gave you such a negative experience that it drove you to leave such review. To address your criticism directly, that casts us as lacking the common sense to run a campsite properly and by implication, casts your views quite righteously. So what is right? What we do have is a small and popular campsite whereby the owners actually work very hard to facilitate our guests. The owner personally answers calls and booking enquiries, and is completely accessible by phone and in person at the campsite to personally try to accommodation every request she receives both online and in person. That personal service is why you experienced exactly what you asked for. To correct your portrayal, at the point of booking you added a request with your booking that read "please can I have a pitch to the left as you drive in (where the motorhome hard standing pitches are please) at the back in the corner, out of the way, as I have a nervous dog. Plus, 2 other family members have booked for the same weekend in motorhomes. Thank you so much :)". You also phoned just before you were due to turn up to ask if you could pitch your tent, leave it overnight and return the next day with your dog as you had fair concerns regarding the heatwave conditions and camping with your dog. Acting on your request, you were allocated a pitch as requested, to the left and on grass opposite the motorhome pitches where your friends were staying. Together. To the best of our incompetence, we allocated you the best pitch available in the location you had requested that on arrival and pitching up, you had no objection to. Granted, the family that arrived next to you had brought their parrot/birds! I remember this well, walking around the site that weekend, as campers with parrots stand out as a bit unusual. Their noise did not stand out. For the benefit of everyone reading, our policy is to try and facilitate people's requests but as our terms state, there is no guarantee we can give you exactly what you ask. In all circumstances, no campsite can guarantee who your neighbours will be, so when you define the neighbouring pitch as a 'family pitch', it is misleading to people reading this as it is a campsite that allows families and in August, there are a lot more families around. All our pitches are family pitches because we are a campsite that allows families. Like most campsites, we have policies to maintain peace and harmony so that people can enjoy their camping, but not at the detriment to everyone else. It is fair to say we are okay with campfires, chat and group chatter. Together with our pub, we are not a 'be in bed by 10pm' type place. The upsides to being okay with many things is that you may happen to have a family with a parrot, or in your case a nervous dog, and luckily for you and others, we will often say this is okay - as it was this time - providing you and your camping neighbours can fit into our campsite's ethos. The crux of the matter - what is reasonable? Our campsite, as you will have seen, is busy at the weekend, with people getting together, enjoying camping and meeting up. Exactly as you were. Where this becomes a problem is when someone is unreasonable in their behaviour or has unreasonable expectations of other people's behaviour. In this instance, you agree your dog has issues - this is not everyone else's problem. It is a problem for you, that you now seem keen to blame us for. If your dog's special needs require such peace, book somewhere peaceful, not a family campsite in August that is busy. Fortunately for you, there are loads of campsites that are not like us - we are a social campsite with a pub, generally full at the weekend and quieter during the week - so book a week night, book a peaceful weekend campsite, book wild camping away from everyone, but you want to come with friends, bring a dog with issues, camp with electric hook up and pay little. Something gives: in this case, you ended next to a parrot that is harmless to everyone else but your dog doesn't like it. As to price and facilities, I would point to the fact that our place is busy at the weekends over the summer season because it is successful. As campers ourselves, we have developed a campsite we would absolutely love going to. It has its own unique pub, a pretty location and is perfect for gathering friends and family to enjoy a campfire, a break with the family dog and a pub at hand for a beer and great value food.

Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2026

Great campsite, fabulous pub and staff. Pulling our own pints was an experience! Staff were very friendly and helpful, food bowls were good and lots of other options to buy on an honesty basis in shop. Two bathrooms were great with large showers and the other facilities looked ok too although didn't use. Although site got busy, by the weekend, it was still peaceful with no noise after 9.30pm. Thanks for a great stay

Lovely campsite. Very clean and well kept. Owners were very friendly. We ate in the pub, the food bowls were great. Would recommend practicing beer pulling skills for the pull your own pints ...novel idea! and very much enjoyed by my husband. Would definitely recommend both the pub and the campsite.

So much fun!

Glamping Pod - Henry Cabin Glamping Pod (Dog Friendly)Apr 2026

We had a fantastic stay here, there really was something for everyone. The pub offered plenty of entertainment, including a pool table and dart board, and the pizzas and ice cream were delicious. The option to pour your own pint was a great touch! Our children were kept entertained throughout, and the staff were all really friendly. There was a storm during our stay (high winds) but the glamping pod was so warm and cosy. We'd definitely recommend it!

What a fantastic place - the camping site was perfect: peaceful and clean with a mix of touring pitches and glamping pods. The pub had a great vibe and very tasty food - especially the stone baked pizzas! They also provide a small shop for anything extra you may need. Had a great couple of nights with the owners & pub entertainment. Great people & highly recommend this absolute gem in the countryside.

The only thing that disappointed me was the shower facilitates. They were in a portable type cabin and were quite cramped. The pub was handy but don't expect gourmet food. Otherwise, lovely little site.

Absolutely amazing site

This site is set in the woods. it's rural Lincolnshire and it's amazing. Kick back to basics enjoy a good local atmosphere in the self serving bar. Bar staff and all employees are super friendly, we even ended up singing karaoke with a bartender. They encourage you to have fun and through the night it feels as if you're all mates from years ago. The site has a lovely view. Shower and toilet facilities easily located. Could possibly do with more cleaners. However the toilets are always clean. Atmosphere is one that will be hard to beat. We have even chose to book in with them for another night, it works on a self serve bar and beer card, pour your own pints! No waiting times and the bar stays open all night until everyone leaves. Good quality handmade food too. We will be coming back again very soon. Such a nice well rounded pub and campsite.

My husband & I spent a week at the three horseshoes pub campsite in our tent with electric hook-up. One of the best campsites we've visited so far. Friendly hosts, great clean facilities & a self serve bar which my husband loved. We'll definitely be returning at a later date.

Excellent site. Well looked after and cared for. Possibly need more toilet and shower facilities. The pub was excellent but with a limited food menu. I hope the site and pub are able to stay open.

This little site is in a beautiful, peaceful location, surrounded by fields and beautiful long country walks. You have everything you need and the staff at the pub are so friendly and helpful. Toilets were regularly cleaned, the site itself was spotless, there was a lovely menu at the pub and a little shop for anything that you need. It literally is in the middle of nowhere, so not for you if you want lots of activity nearby, but perfect if you want peace, quite, birdsong and long country walks.

We chose The Three Horse Shoes for our maiden journey in our new (to us) motorhome. As novice motorhomers, we had so many questions - we needn't have worried, though, everyone we met (staff and other campers alike) were so helpful and friendly. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, is completely dog friendly (all the staff seem to love dogs) and the food and beer is excellent. We'll definitely be returning when we need a cheeky couple of days away without travelling too far from home.

Glamping Pod - Lodge Ensuite Glamping Pods (Dog Friendly)Apr 2025

Our stay at Three Horseshoes was amazing, easy to find, met on arrival by very friendly owner Ian, shown round the facilities and especially liked the self serve bar. The pod itself was clean and tidy, had everything we needed and more. The beds were comfy, heated pod and underfloor heating, the bathroom was excellent with hot shower. Located right next to the outdoor kitchen in a calm, quiet and tranquil setting. The food at the pub was spot on and the bar was a treat. Really great location and was a fab few nights away. Couldn't ask for a better stay.

Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Apr 2025

Really enjoyed my stay, it was first weekend they opened this year and everyone was keen to iron out difficulties as they arose. Wonderful rural location and a dawn chorus like no other. Only food at the pub this weekend was pizza, but when the pizza is so good - it doesn't matter. Good mix of pitches for tents, campers and glamping pods. Only 4 showers, might get queues in height of season.

Definitely will have another visit

Overall, a really enjoyable stay. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Good in pub nice. Pitch size great. Only recommendation would be to treat the weeds on the pitches and maybe a bit of deep cleaning to the bathrooms, but remember, it is a rural site!
