About the site


Situated just 20 minutes from the North Pennines National Park, this site is ideal for nature lovers to relax in an idyllic setting. Enjoy stunning countryside views on site, with woodlands and wetlands thriving with wildlife. The site offers electric hardstanding and grass touring pitches suitable for caravans and campervans. There are also gravel pitches for tents only with a surrounding grass area. For a bit of luxury stay in the cosy vintage railway wagon, equipped with a double bed, ensuite bathroom, kitchenette and seating area. There is also an outside decking area, perfect for al fresco dining in the evenings. The site is also ideally situated to explore County Durham and the North Pennines, with the stunning city of Durham itself just 30 minutes away. Four-legged friends are welcome onsite and in the glamping accommodation.

The facilities include toilets, individual shower cubicles, each with a drying area, and an accessible wet room with a shower, toilet, grab rails and hand basin. A small block with two toilets is closer to the tent camping area. There is also an outdoor, covered washing up area, a dog walking area, wildlife ponds and a laundry room.

The Curlew Cafe is open Sunday to Thursday 9.30 to 3.30, and Friday and Saturday 9.30 to 4.30. The Curlew Bar is open seasonally on Fridays and Saturdays 6pm to 10.30pm. Both offer a range of tasty homemade food and drinks (including Sunday lunch, brunch, breakfast coffees and cocktails) with events sometimes hosted. The Paddocks offers a petting zoo and animal feeding (open daily 10.30am to 3pm) with a play park too.

The Sportsman's Inn (Toft Hill) is also a five mintue walk away. For a supermarket, a Tesco Extra, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer Foodhall, Aldi and Co-op are all within a ten minute drive.
