Really good instructions on arrival at reception.
Really helpful during our stay with direction off site .
All site staff willing to be stoped and answer our questions even when you know they were on a mission.
Plenty bins water points and shower.
Will defendantly return .

Skelwith Fold, Lake District
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 The staff were very friendly and greeted us quickly after hours taking the time to chat and give us loads of helpful information.
Beautiful setting with walking straight from the campsite, brilliant immaculate toilet and shower block with heated floors! Great shop. Will be back - a new favourite!

What a wonderful site!
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 Skelwith fold campsite was really great all round! Our first time in the lakes in our van so I came across the site and booked it for the 2nd half of the Easter holidays.
We travelled as a couple with a 9 year old and dog, and stayed midweek for 3nights/4days - driving into the site is very welcoming from the Welcome sign to the check-in. I wanted to say thank you to the staff who were so nice, friendly and helpful :)
We stayed on the Loughrigg part of the site peg 56, found this perfect for us and the pitches where a really good size. The site is absolutely huge, so many walks and the playarea was great for the kids. The staff were always around on the golf carts checking on the site and if you needed anything.
The reception & shop is nice, shop is stocked well with everything you need.
Toilet and shower blocks were clean, spacious and had everything you needed, showers were great, hairdryer, toilets.
Location was also great, for our 1st Lakes trip it gave us a great base to travel into Ambleside/Windermere/Keswick.
One thing we also really liked about the site is that it was quiet and peaceful.

What an incredible site!

Fantastic accommodation in a great location. Friendly and comfortable
Glamping Pod - Hideaway Ensuite Glamping Pod Apr 2026 myself and my 10 year old son stayed in the woodpecker hideaway accommodation for 3 nights. It was fantastic! The cabin was perfect for 2! it had everything you need for a home away from home. Cozy, comfortable, clean, stunning views, a great play area with football pitch. The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for you! Located close to Ambleside. Lots of nature and a little nature trail around the site. I will most definitely be returning and would highly recommend.

Excellent premium site in the heart of nature
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Mar 2026 One of the best sites we have ever been to. You do pay a premium price for a premium experience, but for us it was worth every penny. All of the facilities (even the bins!) were spotless and the staff were all excellent. We were spoilt for choice with long and short walks directly from the site.

Lovely base
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Oct 2025 We arrived on Saturday, 40 minutes before the shop closed, and were disappointed there are no on site restaurants.
The check in is weird - check in, drive & pick empty spot, then come back to tell reception spot number. We didn't have a pen, reception was closing and it was a long walk back.

We are sorry to hear that your arrival experience didn't feel as smooth or convenient as it should have been. Our check-in process is designed to give guests flexibility in choosing their preferred spot, but we understand it can feel inconvenient, especially when arriving close to closing time.
We also understand the disappointment regarding the lack of on-site restaurants, but there are many small local businesses close to us.

Great stay, highly recommend
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Oct 2025 We had a great stay at Skelwith Fold Caravan Park. The location is great being near Ambleside and Windermere Lake, it also has lots of nice walks on the site itself. The staff were really helpful whenever we needed them.
The facilities were kept clean and we particularly appreciated the heated shower block. We would highly recommend the site and would stay again.

Serene and secure surroundings on a well equipped site
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Sep 2025 Easy to book with a wealth of information on their site.
Very tidy with no noise and little traffic in a beautiful woodland setting. The hardstanding pitches were spacious and most only a short walk from the well maintained toilet/shower blocks.
An excellent play area for children, a superb launderette with a handy drying room too. All spotless. There was even a sizeable library with hundreds of books to borrow.
At the weekends different "food trucks" visit the site for a convenient takeaway.
You can walk into Ambleside or to a pub and waterfalls. It is in a good location for visiting the lakes and mountains.
