Friendly hosts, lovely pub, loads of space for children to let off steam! Easy to access, especially with hard standing in the camping areas. We'd stay here again.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

It was a quiet location for us but I would imagine it can get busy at weekends. But in a good place. Probably be good to have more toilet and shower facilities and a washing up area. But I believe plans have been submitted for this. Would definitely use again.

Very pleased with our stay

We booked to stay in the campsite to watch a local Oxford band (The Inflatables). The campsite is a very good size and was pretty full. We opted for non-electric as we're self contained. There's a new road way laid in the campsite which makes driving easy. The band played outside then when it finished the campsite was quiet and we had a good nights sleep. We had a meal in the pub which was very nice and large portions. On arrival we were welcomed by the friendly staff. We didn't use the sites loos or shower so can't comment on that but the pub toilets were immaculate. This was our first time here but as we only live half an hour away we will certainly be back again soon. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Great location, lovely food, great entertainment all for a very reasonable price, I would happy pay a bit more if there were more toilets and showers. But as it is it's a great stop over.

Stayed for one night as a band on we wanted to see we were told advisable to book a table if eating ,but also a garden menu for eating outside was available didn't have to book went to order at 6.30pm was told at full capacity no new orders being taken bit disappointing as we weren't told anything if they got to capacity? Ordered a takeaway

Very noisy, no food

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Site was a mess, very noisy groups, music and shouting from all hours until early hours. Playing football over motorhomes. Very uneven everywhere. Definitely not recommended. The EHU part is dreadful, no space between vans at all. Couldn't get food as there were no tables available. The only reason I wanted a pub stop over was for food.

Busy weekend in July

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

We came on a busy weekend with a band playing on the Saturday night. The staff were really friendly and helpful. However, this can be a really busy site with not much space to the people pitching up next to you. There is one shower + toilet and one toilet for the whole site when the pub is shut, and there are no washing-up facilities. Also, the loo roll in the toilet ran out in the mornings.

Nice Stay at the Gate Hangs High

Jul 2025

I went with 3 motorcycle friends and camped from Thursday night to Sunday morning. The site is ideally located right behind 'The Gate Hangs High' pub and not far from Hook Norton and the brewery. There was plenty of space on the campsite when we arrived and we pitched our 4 small tents on one of the limited terraced areas on the site (the rest of the site is fairly sloping). We were rudely awoken at 6am on the Friday morning by the noise of lorries and bulldozers working at the adjacent re-cycling centre (which is right next door to the site albeit with a high solid fence between the two areas). When we returned from a ride on the Friday afternoon, our camping area had been swamped with other people's tents and caravans, with little attention given to any minimum distancing between adjacent tents (none was stated on arrival). We suffered from noisy neighbours, but hey ho, it was a weekend and a band (The Inflatables) was booked to play on the Saturday evening. The pub was very nice (and in a good location) with very good food and friendly/young staff, albeit service was very slow on the Saturday evening. We had a very nice cooked full English breakfast on the Saturday morning, but we were told that the cook couldn't make it on the Sunday morning. The campsite is let down by the lack of facilities (2 toilets and only 1 shower), although more toilets are available when the pub is open. There were queues when the pub wasn't open. There are no washing up facilities, so you have to use the cold water tap to wash up. The band were very good, were well attended and finished playing at about 11pm, although the Spotify music afterwards was eventually turned off at 2am, which wasn't great. I don't understand the reason for this, as there was no one there to listen to it for the last hour or two. All in all, a nice weekend which would have been improved by better camping facilities and a few basic rules around distancing between tents and groups of people. The owners could also warn people of the noisy re-cycling centre next door, which affects those staying during weekdays.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Stay here if you like steamrollers, 8am lawn mowing, unannounced classic car rallies around your tent and random people in cars pulling up next to you all day. It seems like a nice, family run campsite and pub, and overall, our stay was alright, but our experience wasn't the best due to a couple of avoidable factors. Toilets and showers adequate and clean, nice looking pub and not far from Hook Norton. We were woken up due to very loud lawn mowing right next to our tent before 8am, which was in preparation for a classic car and motorbike rally of "around 200 vehicles" in the same smallish field we were pitched, that day, which we hadn't been warned about. Only the day before, we'd been told about it by a guy steam rolling outside our tent, as we were setting up. It says somewhere in the description they hold events in the pub garden and field, but no mention of loads of people rallying in the field around our tent, or any warning when we were booking. Other than this, in the duration of our stay, a multitude of cars seemed to pull up in the corner of the field, not far from where we were pitched, where they would stay for a few hours in their cars before driving off. Not sure what was happening there but I'm sure they were having fun! All in all, seems like a nice campsite and pub, but if we'd known about the event, we wouldn't have come and think it's reasonable that other problems could have been avoided.

One night only!

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJul 2025

Stayed here on a Saturday night, site is okay, didn't really use the facilities as we are self contained. It's one of those sites that's ok, but could be so much nicer with better information from the staff at check in, like bins, water taps etc. Not sure what the firebreak rules are, but there certainly wasn't 6 metres between units and tents on this site. Skip for what we presumed was rubbish and blue barrels for bottles. £5 per dog is ridiculous though and for that reason alone we won't use again. The pub looked clean and tidy and the food smelt nice!

Needs more toilets and better shower facilities. Also, a washing up area would be good.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Lovely place with great staff. We found it to be the perfect spot for us. Just as described. We enjoyed the live music on Friday with some well priced cider. And the quiet the rest of the time. Could do with an extra toilet available but only had to wait a few times. We would definitely use this site again.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Amazing stay for the price paid. Felt very safe, warm and welcomed. Lovely scenery and staff. Only downside was the toilets, there was one outside toilet during the night for all campers. Also, no shower facilities that I was able to locate. Apart from that, amazing stay and would definitely recommend and will be using again when in the area.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

We had a fantastic stay at this campsite for 2 nights in July. The staff are super friendly and helpful and we had a lovely meal at the pub on our first night. The campsite is in a great location to explore all the best spots in the Cotswolds. We visiting Clarksons Farm spots (which were super convenient to get to from the campsite) as well as local villages. We walked into Hook Norton which only took 30 minutes. Would recommend to everyone and hope to be back soon.

Campsite on pub grounds, excellent play area for children (even though we didn't have children with us ). The pub was clean and very popular, we had a peaceful nights sleep. Would definitely recommend - the only thing is the ground is very uneven so need checks under the tyres to level off.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

First time on a campsite and it's fine, the pub is great and good food. Close to Banbury and handy for the Cotswolds, fair price for the facilities. One shower room at no extra charge, time it right and didn't have too wait to shower.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Very relaxed site with all the basic facilities you need, a pub that does tasty food, and a short drive from some great places. When booking, they do explain there is a site that can be noisy early on next door, not much of an issue for us though. Enjoyed our stay here.

Charming place & lovely pub with a friendly and helpful chef

We stayed to attend a party being held on their site. It is a well maintained campsite, limited facilities but clean and very friendly. We will definitely use it as a pub stop over site in the future.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

We bought a tent two weeks prior to staying here and found this site online. I was pleasantly surprised about how good it was and my son loved the play park. We ate in the pub on our first night and had breakfast the following morning there too. Food was great camp site was perfect for us! It was so good for us we've booked to go next weekend too and explore the local area. The facilities here are fine and more than adequate for campers! Value for money? Yes! Would I recommend it to others? Yes! Happy days indeed!!

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesJun 2025

Good stopover on our way home. The site has minimal facilities but was clean. The pub is very busy so it was long waiting times for drinks and to ask about campsite related queries. The staff were happy and worked really hard. There was an event on the second night which we hadn't been informed about. It meant music on the site until the really hours so we cancelled our second night.

Great for short stay

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

This is a nice campsite, on a slope so you need to pick carefully can get a bit windy. Friendly people. Be warned, there is only one shower for the whole campsite the queue can be very long in the mornings. Also, only 2 toilets for the whole site when the pub is shut.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

A great location for our needs, a lovely pub inside and the garden was spacious. There wasn't any information provided when we arrived, it was a 'just park up wherever you like'. We'd booked an electric pitch but were told we couldn't park up there until 6.30pm as there was a car show happening - which wasn't too much of an issue for us but a bit rude when we'd paid for the pitch and could've been parked there since 12pm. We had no clue where the shower was, no information provided - it's the black door on the far right of the front of the pub. Not in a great condition but usable - although the hot water took an age to come through. And if you're non-electric and parked down the bottom of the site then it's literally the furthest point the shower/toilet could be from you. My only other negative is the electric pitches back on to the local skip yard which started making noise well before 8am. All in all, would stay again but would advise maybe a welcome pack for campers - just with a little information on about the pub, food times and local takeaways and where everything is.
