Sprinter-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Dec 2022 Great location, facilities are clean and of a high standard. Lovely place to stay and there is a park and ride close by.
Great site Recommends site
Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Dec 2022 This site is a 5 minute drive from Monks Cross shopping centre, the park and ride and a great choice when visiting the Christmas market.
The gentleman who greeted us onto site was extremely friendly and very informative about the local area, and even provided us with a map of York city centre. We drove our 7.2metre (length) motorhome to the shopping centre and found it easy to park as there were plenty of spaces on a Friday afternoon. On Saturday, we drove to the park and ride, arriving around 9.15 and expected it to be packed, but it wasn't and we found a space backing onto a grass verge which we reversed into and over hung the grass at the rear. The park and ride was a bargain. We were told by the gentlemen who greeted us at Wagtail that the height barrier might be down, but it was open when we used it.
The site was quiet when we were there and the toilet/shower blocks warm and clean. Would definitely book here again when visiting York.
Amazing!! Recommends site
Camping Pod - Camping Pods Oct 2022 Had a great weekend away at this site. Our reason for going was for the fishing, which was a good day - caught a variety of sizes of different fish (mainly carp), loved it. The pod we stayed in was very clean and cosy. The toilet/shower block was also very clean. The landowner was very welcoming and friendly. Food places, grocery shops and retail shops very close by. We will definitely be returning and would definitely recommend to others. Very happy.
Peaceful, roomy, and lovely walks around the grounds Recommends site
Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Sep 2022 Lovely quiet, friendly site. Good shower block with toilets. Plenty of room around our motorhome. We enjoyed the walks with our dog around the fishing lake and the grounds. Met by Peter on arrival who gave us some basic information to start our 3 day break.
Would highly recommend Recommends site
Medium Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2022 Well received by the friendly Site Manager who communicated well giving plenty of local information re transport, parking and local amenities.
Took time to chat at other times when passing.
A fenced off fishing lake which still left an area to walk around away from the plentiful pitches.
Would highly recommend.

Large Tent - Hardstanding Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2022 Lovely quiet park, but nearby to lots of things. Had a lovely welcome with lots of useful information. Toilets and shower facilities were clean beyond expectation and we would definitely stay again. New to camping, but this site has set a high standard!
Very friendly Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2022 Really friendly owner, the site was well-spaced and offered everything you needed for a break. The best part was that the pitches were not on top of each other, and offered plenty of private space around the caravan. Highly recommended.
Okay-ish VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2022 If you're looking for somewhere for fishing for a few days, and nothing else, then this place is recommended as we saw lots of fisherman catching over the 2 days we stayed.
However, if your looking for a base to do some walking, then definitely not. Site is flat but next to a very busy road with traffic travelling at speed (and no public footpaths for miles), the site is also undergoing building works, so noise from 9am throughout the day.
Added to that, I felt that it was very expensive for what you get, so definitely not returning.
Site's response
There are a couple of public footpaths within 400 meters and another one 1/2 mile away. There is other walk's a 10 minute drive away along the River Foss or the River Derwent.
Also, a little bit further is Castle Howard, where you can walk in the Howardian Hills, a place of natural beauty.
Lovely site, friendly owner Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2022 The owner/ manager Peter was very helpful and got in touch a couple of times prior to our arrival. Site was a good location for travelling into the city centre which we did both days. Taxi ride is approximately £12 one way. The toilet/ shower block was clean although we weren’t cooking this time, only sleeping in our camper, so I didn’t use the washing up facilities. We really enjoyed our time and will hopefully be back. Thank you!

Camping Pod - Camping Pods Aug 2022 Tranquil park a 15 min drive from town centre. Lovely, smallish, calm site. Facilities clean and sufficient for park size. Fishing looks nice if you're into that.

Motorhome - Hardstanding Grass Touring Pitches Aug 2022 Sure was lovely and peaceful, even though there were children present. Fishing was spot on, lots of different species to catch. Definitely will go back again.
