We absolutely loved this stay that we actually booked an extra night there. Close enough to lots of great local Lake District spots, with a fab little farm shop, and great facilities. Showers and toilets were always clean and had hot water, even when the site was very busy. Doggy friendly and our little boy actually took his first steps here, so great memories made! He really enjoyed looking at all the sheep as well in the field close to the site. As adults we loved the fusball table, and not to mention the pizza van, if you can book for a Wednesday or Saturday night, this is an absolute highlight!

A bit remote and surrounded by sheep, however the campsite itself was very cosy and spacious. Convenient facilities. The lady that runs the shop with her dog was very lovely and accommodating. Well stocked shop with all the essentials and more.
Nice, discreet campsite

Beautiful place with pitches spread out on different levels. Far away from any roads so no background noise.

Loved this site, it's a bit rustic and quirky, but beautifully located and the staff were great. Loved the fire pits and the relaxed atmosphere. Great little shop, though doesn't sell booze, and it's a good 35 minute walk to the pub. Could do with a bigger toilet/shower block, bit small for the number of campers, but would definitely go back.
Friendly and relaxed

A lovely relaxed feel from beginning to end of our stay. Hot showers in a spacious washroom area. Firepits for use with refundable deposit (ash bin was full, minor thing). A great base to explore South Lakeland from. Would definitely return.
Super site with wonderful staff

We were up on the terrace area, which had nice views and we liked being in a quiet corner. There is a well stocked shop and the fridges and freezers are excellent. There is no shortage of hot water and good facilities for washing up. The biggest disappointment was the shower/toilet block. The cubicles are very small with nowhere to keep your stuff dry or to get changed. For two days, there were no paper towels and the bin wasn't emptied until it was overflowing. The shower cubicles were dirty inside and the same pile of dirt was behind the door on day 1 as the day we left. Toilet doors didn't lock properly and there was hardly room to stand and flush the toilet in the cubicle. The toilet and shower block would definitely benefit from a major revamp. Also, there are only two female showers, which may cause queues when the site is busy. I wouldn't recommend it or go back purely because of the shower/toilet block. Everything else was of a much higher standard.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of your recent stay Jessica. We fairly recently (March 2023) took over the running of the campsite at Moss Howe Farm. Since then we have made many improvements to the site and camping experience as a whole, some of which you alluded to in your post. The facilities blocks are legacy from when we took over the site, and while more than adequate, and with unlimited piping hot water from our onsite biomass boiler, will be refurbished over the winter. Time and money has not allowed us to get these done sooner but it is on the list and will be complete to the same level as other aspects of the site you did enjoy. As part of the refurbishment we will be installing an additional toilet and shower to both the mens and ladies and a total and reshaping the space. Glad you did however still enjoy your stay. We have lots of other additions and improvements planned for the coming year and we hope you will come back and stay with us again to see what we have been up to. Richard & the team at Moss Howe.

The site was well equipped and the staff helpful and friendly. The shop was well stocked. The shower and toilet facilities were good. We spent 2 nights camping in perfect weather with northern lights to entertain us. Couldn't have been better.

It was excellent. The people are nice, the facilities are clean and have everything you would need and more. The only problem is, it might not be the best for backpackers as it might not be so accessible by bus or to any attractions. Regardless, the landscape itself was stunning.
Brilliant and would return

Lovely for camping tents but make sure you bring extension to your hookup as I had to borrow one. Luckily they had one I could borrow. Views are stunning and staff friendly, only thing was toilets are too small, your knees on door so no good for those bigger folk and two showers which was adequate as not many there, but got lovely yurts with their own solar powered jacuzzi with stunning view of mountains. Great site for those loving hiking. Beautiful grange over sands well worth a visit 10 miles up road and near lake Windermere.

Nice spot, friendly staff and plenty of hot water for showers. However, seems there was a lack of information before and during our stay. No bin for pooh bags that we could see. Stopped in a lodge which was OK but, in our opinion, seemed expensive for what it was. We thought it had a fully equipped kitchen but there was only a 2 ring hob with no grill or oven, a toaster would have been nice. It was okay for short stay.

A great place to camp and the shop had everything you needed. The showers are nice & warm and the toilets were cleaned frequently. There was communal area to sit and light a fire and the staff were super welcoming! The only negative was that the Wi-Fi wasn't great (I know you're supposed to be camping!). Luckily, I was able to get 5g as I'm with EE, however my partner on Vodaphone had no signal whatsoever. The staff mentioned that they are investing in a mast, this would make future stays perfect!

The site was easy to find and fairly remote which made it very quiet. It wasn't far from Windermere and Fell Foot, by car, to explore some lovely walks. The facilities onsite were clean and the small shop was useful with welcoming staff. The yurt was cosy with the stove to heat it up and the hot tub stayed hot with just a few logs to top it up after it was pre-lit for us.

A Beautiful and quiet site. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The facilities were basic, but clean and adequate. There was a great little shop that even had coffee made in morning. A lovely walk to the Derby Arms which is a friendly pub that had a good crack with locals and staff. Would definitely recommend and will be returning for another stay soon.

Veronica was very welcoming when we arrived. All facilities are well-maintained and spotless. The shop has all you might need and is reasonably priced too. There are yurts on the site with hot tubs that look amazing. We will definitely be returning to stay in one of those βΊοΈ

Good site, in a remote area, would recommend for a nice quiet stay. Lots of walking available from the site but nearest pubs/shop was a good 45min - 1hr walk away. Facilities were nice but very cold and showers weren't the cleanest but with flip flops it would be fine! A shop onsite was good with most essentials.
