Poor facilities

The facilities were awful to say the least. Toilets were backing up, as were the showers! Everything needed a really good clean too. They were well aware of their issues with the toilets and it seems to have been an issue for sometime. In the end, they closed off a lot of the toilets, which then led to queues to use the open ones. The grounds flooded quickly with the amount of rain we had whilst there, which meant you couldn't walk from your pitch to the loos without getting your feet wet. I had to have words with one of the owners because they decided to strim behind our caravan which caused rocks to hit our awning! It's a site we won't be returning to.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. Unfortunately, due to the rain and the pump malfunctioning, we did have an issue, which we worked on to resolve. Obviously when it rains the ground does get wet, meaning your feet do too. I am also sorry that one of our groundsmen caused a rock to hit the awning whilst strimming, I will have a word with them regarding this.

Even in the pouring rain this was a lovely site. Loved it so much that we are looking to come back again this summer. Facilities were the best I have been to in my novice camping experience.

The campsite was lovely, clean and quiet. The shower block was spotless, very modern and was always clean when we went in. The only down fall is the location. One little shop in village and the nearest shops was over a 30 minute drive. so you definitely need a car. Would highly recommend this site for families that have older children, as there no park for kids, but would be returning.
Hardstanding pitch was okay

I don't believe it's worth the price - I felt that you can get better for cheaper, but the site is okay.

Lovely little site and friendly staff. The homemade ice cream is amazing. Not much to do but does have water sports nearby. The ski bar food was great. Our dog loved it here.
A wonderful site, very tidy and the showers are superb

Lovely site, showers were superb with a large wet room with heated towel rails. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this site....right close to the pet-friendly beach too.

Clean and well maintained facilities, staff professional, especially when we had a problem with noise, dealt with properly. Our only concern was lack an apparent lack of security, there seemed a lot of vehicles coming onto the site and not staying any length of time Will we return, definitely.

Great little campsite with all the basic facilities you need, plus coffee and an ice cream shop. Camp right on the beach. Great for dog walks. Local shops are a 5 minute walk.

Almost everything was fine. Spacious pitches, calm environment, clean facilities...but I don't understand why the heating in the bathrooms has to run on max and waste has to be carried to the next village to be sorted- I am sure this could be fixed quickly.

Our first stay on a campsite. Friendly lady in reception. Clean campsite and shower block. Lovely ice creams. The Ski Bar is not far away and does food and drink. Felt very safe.
Nice site with pleasant staff

Nice site, pleasant staff and amazing new shower wet rooms. Felt the site could do with more water points, waste disposal points, recycling bins and dog poo bins. The ski bar next door is nice, dog friendly but a little pricey. Village leaves a bit to be desired.
Nice and quiet site

I would recommend the park for a weekend stay. The only problem is the dust from the road and how far the toilets are, they need to have disabled bays near to the toilet block and showers. Otherwise a nice relaxing sit, would stay again.
Pleasant site on western side of the lakes

After initial problems with the electric hook up, we had a pleasant stay. The lady in reception was very helpful. We would like to see more water points around the site, as it is quite a distance pulling a full water carrier and wastewater.

The site is great. Staff are friendly and check-in was really efficient. A definite highlight is the homemade gelato shop onsite which was absolutely brilliant (we ate there every day!) The site is pretty big and there was plenty of space for us while we were there. Two main things that detracted was the local area, which was a little run down (but a great fish and chip shop nearby!) and the shower block. Although the shower block looks really new, the interior walls look to be melamine, which I can understand from a wipe-clean perspective. However, they are starting to bow and bulge, suggesting that they are suffering from rising damp as the sealant around the bottom of the walls was fairly mouldy. Otherwise though, the shower block was warm, and cleaned well every day by the onsite staff and I had no issues with using the facilities with great pressure and temperatures in the showers.

The park was nice, but very noisy for the 2 pods next to us - a group of girls were up very late.
Site's response
We are sorry for the noise of the pod pitches, but we had moved you to the empty pod pitch as a favour so you were close to your friends in the big pod. We do try our best to keep noise down.

Water pressure was really bad in the showers and for me, there were no proper kitchen facilities.

Great facilities - clean and functional shower block. Hairdryer available in ladies loo. Reception sold fire wood. Ice cream parlour on site. Quick walk to water sports centre and bar which had a full range of drinks and good food options. We booked an all weather pitch which was waterlogged and had potholes - not exactly the site's fault that there had been rain, but I think this could have been better maintained to avoid the deep puddles.

We loved staying at Harbour Lights campsite. It was a short family break for us. The place is peaceful and quiet and the kids have a lot of fun. It's feels safe going with young children; friendly staff, you can have nice walks, beautiful views, and luckily the weather it was good the time we spent here. We will definitely come back and we highly recommend this place.

Nice clean campsite, fabulous showers and toilets cleaned regularly. Could do with a sign for directions and could do with re tarmacking the roads in and out.
Peaceful and well maintained, neat shower rooms and great welcome

We picked this site to try out our new van, and achieved that aim. We had a gravel hardstanding for our van and adjacent grass for the drive-away awning. Lots of rain, but the site remained dry and usable. Excellent shower block with ten shower/toilet/wash basin rooms. Haverigg/ Millom is a place for beach walks not high life, but that was what we wanted on this trip. Great welcome.

It is a nice park with well laid out pitches. We didn't have any children with us but I wouldn't recommend for children as there is nothing on site for them, although the beach is nice and close. Only one toilet/shower block so if you were on the edge of the site like us it was a fair distance away. Grass areas got very waterlogged.
