I'm not one for camping but took advantage of the lovely weather and had a last minute camping trip. Joanne and Pete were so warm, friendly and welcoming. Is a basic campsite but had portaloos that were clean, sink and drinking water. The campsite wasn't as close to pubs/shops as some others were however it was in a lovely quiet location. Would definitely recommend this campsite and a lot of it was down to the hospitality offered by both Joanne & Pete. They even asked an ice cream van to visit us yesterday evening! Will definitely be back at some point!

We were working in chesterfield for the weekend and stayed here for one night. The setting is stunning, very peaceful and although there were quite a few other campers, the site was well spaced out. Being one of the hottest days of the year (2025) van doors and boot open all night and had the best sleep ever - site very quiet during the evening and night! There are two very clean portaloo’s onsite , drinking water and sink. Really everything you need. A short walk (15 mins) takes you to a local pub (three stags) and the food was delicious. They also have a garden. We did book in advance, but they were faking walk-ins when we visited. The owners popped over to see us on the Sunday morning and they were so friendly, asked us how our stay was. You can see this is a well loved business. Would recommend if you want a tranquil spot to stay with easy access to the pub.

We booked last minute as everywhere we tried was fully booked, and we are so glad we booked this lovely little place. Our first night was very quiet with only two other camping parties on the field, and the second night was full of family's and it was lovely to see all the kids playing together. We can't fault the lovely owners who were very polite, warm and welcoming as well as very attentive in making sure ourselves and other campers were okay! and the value for money is amazing! You get 2 portaloos which are spotless, and a wash basin area - only thing lacking is a little privacy area where you can get changed or have a wash down in private but having a shower complex is out of the owners hands at the moment so can't fault them in any way whatsoever! We even had an ice cream van come round the site which was good value for money. We honestly can't praise the owners and the campsite enough and we have decided to come back again next weekend! And we're thinking of making it a very regular visit for us. Best wishes, Keith & Stacey

If you like quiet, peaceful camping, with only the sounds of birds and wildlife, this is the site for you. The portacabin toilets were clean and smelt so nice. The field is basic, nothing fancy but well kept with lovely views. We had only 1 little hiccup but wasn't a major deal to us but the hosts couldn't apologise any more. There's a couple of shops a short driving distance away, same as a McDonald's, Sainsbury's and pizza/chip shops. Matlock Town and Matlock Bath are also a quick drive away for things to do in the day. Also, dog friendly! All in all, a nice quiet weekend away with just wildlife as company (and the other half, lol).

We stayed for one night over the bank holiday weekend. The owners (including their very cute dog) were extremely friendly and chatty. They came around with bin bags and gave lots of recommendations on things to do and places to eat. The portaloo was always very clean and stacked with toilet rolls and hand sanitiser. Good location between Bakewell and Matlock Bath. Overall a great experience.

A back-to-basics campsite just outside Darley Dale, near Matlock. No showers or electricity. Portaloo was very clean and friendly owners were on site twice a day to check everything was ok. We loved our night here and will definitely use again when we are in the area.

Just a field with a portaloo, bin and a stand pipe. It could do with an info board as I was not sure if I had to tell someone I had arrived or if I could just park the car on the field. Site on slight slope but easy to pitch. It would be great to have a place to wash up. Site was quiet and okay. Tidy. Felt safe. Bin available.

Hi Helen, yes we are very wild camping, I will definitely look into it for somewhere for people to wash their pots.
