Scenic location, walkable to Shaftsebury.
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Very scenic location overlooking the valley. Uphill walk into Shaftesbury which is 15 - 25 minutes walk depending on your fitness. Lovely old town and the ad famous Gold Street.
Site has limited facilities and the showers stopped working while we were there. Temporary problem, but quite inconvenient. They were also very cramped with no dry zone. Toilets are a festival style trailer and not particularly clean or pleasant. Host was very genial.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Yes, this is a back to basics camp site, but, the setting is beautiful, the host helpful and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back!!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 Just back from a 3 night stay at Holyrood. couldn't fault a thing. a beautiful site with stunning views. a real 'get away from it all' place, yet within walking distance to Shaftesbury. Jason, the site owner was great and very friendly. we will definitely be back before the end of the summer.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 First visit with our two puppies get them use to camping. For a basic campsite it was fantastic, toilet was clean and shower was very nice and hot. Views were beautiful and the walk into Shaftesbury was so easy. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Very peaceful. You can pitch up wherever you like. There is a nice little walk way in to Shaftesbury.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2025 Great informal site, fabulous views, friendly owner, only 15 mins (steep climbs in places) walk or 5 mins on (e)bike from Shaftesbury centre.
Very good cycle opportunities nearby - lots of Sustrans routes centred around nearby Gillingham and also passing near the site, and Drove roads along the tops of the Downs, although it can get pretty hilly in places.

Best views, all you need facilities (toilet and shower), very quiet, beautiful animals around. We will be coming back.

This a simple campsite - not a holiday park - and it is great for that. Just pitch up and enjoy the view and have a fire. Campsite has fire pit hire - recycled washer drums sat on a steel wheel - perfect for the job, buy some wood or bring your own.

Only a short walk to a local pub/restaurant, and I like, too, that it is pet friendly.
Great for children - plenty of space to to run around, and farm animals to visit.
A short walk to town, though on the site itself, you feel you're right out in the countryside.

I recently stayed at Holyrood and can't recommend it highly enough!
The location is stunning, surrounded by breathtaking scenery that made for some amazing hikes and peaceful moments by the campfire.
Whether you're an experienced camper or new to the experience, it's the perfect getaway. I can't wait to return for another relaxing and memorable stay!

The toilets were clean but there was not many of them. I didn't use the showers as we only stayed one night.
Excellent value for money. The owner was very friendly and came by to say hello. Would definitely recommend.
A lovely quiet campsite

The site itself has plenty of space and free run to pitch up where suits. The facilities are great, the showers particularly!
Access to the site is narrow, especially if you've got a larger van but certainly not inaccessible. You just need to be prepared.
Will definitely be returning in the near future.
