Short stop Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Standard Plus Grass (Optional Electric) Sep 2026 Budle bay is a very tranquil site was just what we need.
Lovely place and great facilities Recommends site
Medium Tent - Super Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 We went over bank holiday weekend with our 2.5 year old (first time camping for him).
Lovely play park and cafe
Artisan pizza company up the cut about 5 mins walk where you can eat outside and they have ride on toys for the kids.
The toilet and shower facilities were canny and kept clean. They were warm when you walked in so never cold gwtting out the shower!
Friendly staff.
We had a rainy day and found a lovely honey farm shop near berwick which was free had kids ride ons and indoor kids play bit and a place you can see real bees, also a bus cafe which was lovely cake
Very friendly staff and nice campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Large Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 The staff were lovely, id manage to book the wrong dates by one night so we turned up a day early but they sorted it for us in 2 minutes. I've been there before about 5 years ago and I can see the improvements they've been making to the site, we were keen to drive Budle bites but our tent leaked and we had to cut the trip short. I'd happily go back another time. Friendly site
Read review Large Tent - XL Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Excellent location if you want to visit bamburgh or holy island. Showers and toilet are clean and available most of time.
We paid extra to be riverside, but it's really not worth it as the river isn't accessible or visible. More noise from road overnight than expected. Pizzas pretty good. Site isn't close to anything for food or drink.
2nd time staying in Northumberland, but found first site at Dunstan Hill much better for a family of 3 with a young child of 4/5.
Good location Single Axle Caravan - Large Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Site was fine but apart from reception area there was no internet which caused ructions for 2 little nuerodivergent kids who didn't understand.
The queues and food wait for bugle bites onsite were long
Great location, awful site Motorhome - Medium Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Terrible site for the money charged.
Grounds unkempt, toilets and showers filthy and not working properly. Elsan points poorly maintained. Standard safety signs missing. Advertises as having laundry facilities but doesn't, although knowing what I do now, probably just as well.
Been out since April and easily the poorest site we have stayed on. Booked in for four nights and moved on after two; goods/services paid for not received. Won't be back.
2 night stay Motorhome - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Check in fine very pleasant and friendly. Pitch ok.
Toilets and showers dirty and very messy. Needs a good deep clean.
Great stay Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Lovely site with great facilities and good food available to buy on site. Great family location
Needs updating a bit Recommends site
Medium Tent - Medium Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Needs updating a bit in showers and toilets.
Budle Bay Recommends site
Motorhome - Medium Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Well thought out site. has a little shop and a cafe. it also has a lovely pizza hut with freshly made pizza. The beach is. about 20 mins walk but not nice.i will put a picture up sp you csn see. You are best going to seahouses which is not far away and the kids can go crabing their is space to park alongside the road.
Basic campsite great for big groups Motorhome - Medium Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Let's start with the positives. We were warmly welcomed at reception on arrival. And if you're a large group of people looking to get together with friends and family then this is a great spot for you. However, we aren't. So we found this place noisy and chaotic. 3 police cars even turned up at one point in order to sort out an issue between groups of campers.
The toilet block is run down and despite being cleaned, it never felt clean because it's in need of a lick of paint and some TLC. We felt this campsite was over priced for what it offered. Would not recommend to friends or family. So sorry about the mixed review. I usually only post positive reviews and this is my first exception in a very long time.
Maybe to offer some feedback - perhaps large groups could be located in an area specifically for them? And smaller young families or couples could have a quieter area? I feel like this could be fixed with some moving around and forward planning. I hope that's helpful
Value for money, decent location Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Large Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 The campsite was easy to find, located just at the back of the bay, and check-in was straightforward. There is a café on site selling basic food such as chips, bacon butties and burgers at reasonable prices.
Playground for kids. The shop has a selection of chocolates and other goodies, although I never found out whether they sold essentials such as milk or bread. We couldn't get internet on two networks, however, Wi-Fi available near office which was excellent.
The campsite itself was adequate, although quite cramped. I would have been disappointed if I had been booked into one of the huts, as they didn't appear to have much of a view or any real grounds around them.
The site could also do with a bit of a garden tidy-up, as there were quite a few weeds and areas that could benefit from some attention.
Nice and quiet at night. Check in after 2, leave by 10.30, although I believe this is negotiable. Toilet and shower facilities were very good. There was also a good area for washing pots, and the Elsan disposal point was excellent.
Overall, it's a nice campsite in an excellent location.
Site is tired, needs improving Twin Axle Caravan - XL Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 The site is not like the pictures with 60 seasonal pitches, many look very scruffy and unkept.
Facilities are tired and need updating, very tight corners for twin wheel caravans, no room to reverse onto the pitch and 90° corner on the exit.
Location Glamping Cabin - Hill View Huts (2-7 Person, Dog Friendly) Aug 2026 We travelled as a family, Booking a pitch as well as a hill view hut.
Location is the selling point with a 5 minute walk to Budle Bay & only a couple of mile to Bamburgh.
I really think the people who own this site have lost the love for it. The site just looked unkept all around. Overpriced. The hill view hut is a glorified shed, which I expected, but lower your expectation. Showers were hot & did the job. Ate from Budle Bites which was ok & also from the Northumberland Artisan Pizza, which we enjoyed.
Claustrophobic VW-Type Campervan - Campervan Hardstanding/Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 VW T2 campervan. Booked for two nights but only stayed one night. Pitches were so close together I felt hemmed in on both sides. Surrounded by trees so no chance of solar panels operating effectively.
The back of my van was facing west straddled by a wall of trees. Ablutions I could only say were acceptable. I didn't stay long enough to do a full recce of the site which also had hot food available on site.
Claustrophobic is an understatement for this campsite, packed in like sardines is probably more fitting.
Solo Trip Recommends site
Roof Tent - Campervan Hardstanding/Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Great site, will be back, staff were lovely, pizza was amazing! Handy location
Budle Bay campsite. Glamping Cabin - River View Huts (2-4 person - Double and Twin Beds, Dog Friendly) Aug 2026 The site is in a great location and the facilities are average but the ‘glamping cabins’ are far from it.
Below what I’d expect even at cheaper rates.
Good site, friendly staff Recommends site
Small Tent - Medium Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Showers disappointing because of having to hold the tap constantly to get water.
The food on site was expensive but good. In my opinion, a range of food for kids (supermarket, pizza etc.) would be a good addition.
Overall, I would recommend this site.
as few night away in Northumberland Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Campervan Hardstanding/Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 only stayed 2 out of 3 nights had to shoot off back home as daughter was in labour.
3 Nights at Budle Bay Recommends site
Small Tent - Standard Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Very well organised and set out site in a great location. Plenty of personal space, good hot showers, local animals are a treat!
Not good Sprinter-Type Campervan - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Toilets and showers not good or clean, hardly any power in shower and lukewarm, roads rocky and pot holed which, for people like us with dodgy knees, was an issue. Cafe options limited.
Okay Twin Axle Caravan - Super Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 The positives. We had a great sized caravan pitch. The site was quiet at night and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. It's in a great location too.
The negatives. The site is very scruffy, overgrown and doesn't look cared for. There are weeds everywhere and you walk on hard core which proves very difficult. The toilets not only need completely ripped out and renewed, but are grimy and dirty. There was not a single toilet handle that was not broken, same with the taps and the basins all had rust stains.
There is a layer of dust and dirt on all the skirtings and doors. Obviously not been cleaned in a while. If you are camping it's very packed. It resembles a shanty town. There are trailers, pipes and other rubbish lying about - which we looked into from our caravan. The huts you can book are a disgrace visually. They all need repainting and the faded plastic signs renewed.
It was very expensive for what we received. Plus we had to pay for electricity and for our dogs to be on site. We did have a lovely holiday but only because we could close our caravan and be unaware of the surroundings.
Sadly we won't come back to this site.
Great little place Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Campervan Hardstanding/Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Handy for bamburgh 5 mins drive, quiet peaceful site, travelled up to Berwick ideal place for location.
Basic site VW-Type Campervan - Campervan Hardstanding/Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 Basic site and amenities, can't access beach directly from site. Basic catering facilities on site. Toilet block needs improving.
Fantastic family camping trip Recommends site
Large Tent - Super Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2026 We stayed at Budle Bay last week - it was our 1st family camping trip and we had the best time! The campsite has everything you need - easy access to tasty food, it is small and intimate enough to be close to running water and showers/toilets wherever you are pitched, there is a friendly vibe and the staff can’t do enough to help you. You are 5 minutes walk from the sea and the coastal walk into Bamburgh is just stunning. You are also right by a bus stop - which was handy as we could go out and have drinks with lunch. The play park which is on site is fantastic and the kids really enjoyed it.
We will be back. We loved this campsite and location so much!
