Wick River Campsite is the perfect spot to explore the beauty of the Caithness countryside situated along the riverbanks in a peaceful, secluded part of Wick. Tents and tourers are welcome across the site's range of electric and non electric grass and hardstanding pitches. Conveniently located along the NC500 route and just a ten minute walk into the town of Wick and to the coast, you will be in a prime location for exploring the Highlands.

This could not have been a better for my wife and I as "virgin" campsiters! New facilities, all really clean and well serviced. All you could need from pre-arrival until departure.

Wick River Campsite was one of the best we stayed at while touring the NC500 in a motor home. The facilities were excellent, really fresh, clean and well appointed. Access to the site was easy, especially as we had a unit taller than was able to access from the main entrance. The proactive text with link to where the alternative entrance helped reassure us we were accessing from the right point.

This was our first night on the NC500 and the site is amazing! Very very clean and modern. The lady who checked us in was very helpful and super friendly. We will be recommending to people who go on To do the NC500 and we will stay again if we ever do it again.

We stayed here for 4 nights, my husband and I, along with our 11 yr old daughter and our two dogs. We all had a fabulous stay here, the facilities are fabulous, very modern and clean toilets/showers. The shower cubicles are spacious so you can get dressed in there after showering. There are three hairdryers in there. The only downside I'd say is that they close the toilets between 11am and 2pm for cleaning, which is a bit inconvenient if you've had a chill morning and want a later shower. There are various water stations around the camp with drinking water. The grounds are extremely clean and well presented. Other facilities include a clean and spacious washing up room, which has a communal fridge and a freezer (very handy). Also, a lockable phone charging station. There is a laundry room to wash your clothes on the go, which again is very handy. The onsite shop at reception is handy but does close at 8pm. There is a play park at the back of the campsite if you follow the river down towards Wick town, you will see it, it's fabulous. Consists of a zip line, which my daughter loved and a sunken trampoline, which is great fun. There are many walking areas around for the dogs to run off the lead (off camp). There is a Co-op nearby which is handy. We tried the chippy, Chinese and Indian in Wick for take out and each meal was fabulous. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our stay and if it wasn't a 10 hour drive away, we would definite be back time and time again! Loved it!
Pleasant site close to the river with footpath to the town

Warm welcome from team who also sorted an extra long cable for hook up as mine was too short. Facilities were excellent - one of the nicest shower blocks I have seen! The shop was useful and the site was tidy with every thing needed for short or long stay. Whilst it wasn't the cheapest, the facilities were very good so extra cost was ok.

Couple stayed with dog for one night. Staff were very nice and facilities very excellent and clean. I made a mistake on my booking and the staff changed it quickly and without a fuss which I really appreciated but didn't expect when I asked. Would really recommend. Good base for a stop on NC500.

Can't fault this site - the welcome was very genuine and the facilities amazing. I just hope that it doesn't become so popular that they try and accommodate too many units. Going under the railway line was a bit scary but the warden assured me I would have hit the barrier before the bridge.

Arrived at Wick campsite for two nights while touring the NC500. What a beautiful site this is, with two ways of entry, one for smaller vehicles and one for larger. Top quality facilities, we were welcomed by one of the staff and shown our pitch, which was fifty feet away from the showers. The information sheet they gave us on arrival was very informative, the shop was stocked with great essentials if needed and the walk along the river into Wick was lovely. There are not many shops in Wick, and that didn't bother us, a place where Lowery painted his portrait of the steps and it's steeped in history around the herring industry. Wick campsite is a fantastic place to stay when doing the NC500, whether just for one night or maybe more if you're not in a rush to complete the NC500 trip.

Honestly, we have done the route NC500 and the facilities here really spoilt us, I have not seen anything like it before on my travels. Amazing friendly and helpful staff - a must stop off.

We booked Wick River more for its location, to break our journey north, than for any other reason, so were unsure what to expect. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. From the warm welcome we received at check-in, to the standard of the facilities, there wasn't anything that could have been improved on. In terms of campsites, this was one of the highlights of our motor home journey around the Scottish highlands.

A lovely, smart site set alongside the river with a nice walk into Wick. The pitches are well laid out with plenty of space however the playground area can be noisy at times but not too intrusive. The showers and facilities are modern and clean. The site could do with a shop and maybe a bar and cafe. Wick itself unfortunately is quite run down, so we used the site as a stopover.

Second stop on NC500 and was delighted in all ways. Welcome at reception was warm and friendly, pitch easy to find and set up, toilets, showers and washing facilities best I've enjoyed! Walked to Wick along the river accessed from the campsite. Nothing to improve on, hope everyone has a great season.

Great campsite, quiet and clean with excellent facilities. The facilities block appears to be brand new, very clean, nice showers and loos. Some of the external waterworks were incomplete, but the temporary setup worked fine. All round, great campsite, would recommended.
