A note from the site themselves...
We are a family run business with a passion for bringing people together to connect with each other, themselves and with nature. The most commonly used word to describe our site is 'magical'. It is a retreat as well as a campsite.
We are on the edge of Dartmoor providing beauty, peace and tranquility, with lots to explore. Perfect for families, groups, couples or single people wanting to recharge, refresh and renew.
Went here in late November with my boyfriend to celebrate his graduation and get away for a little bit. We only stayed for two nights but they were absolute bliss! We were a bit apprehensive about the cold but the hosts provided plenty of extra blankets, a big heater and even offered us wellies because of the mud! The shared facilities were really well kept and the fridge provided was a lifesaver.
The site also isn't too far from Okehampton (about a 15 minute drive) which was handy and has plenty of lush places to eat and things to do, especially when it got dark so we couldn't be walking around Dartmoor anymore.
The only downside we found was how quickly the sun set each day, so we will definitely have to visit again in the summer when we can have full days to explore!!

Small Tent - Grass PitchesAug 2023
The site was easy to find and get to, although the dirt road getting to the site needs a lot of work done to it to improve the last or first bit of driving.
I did get a flat tyre because of the pot holes and sharp rocks. That is my only negative thing to say about this campsite. There is plenty of space for a lot of people.
It has a big stone circle in the middle of one field which you can have a big bonfire in.
Perfect location for a lovely, remote holiday of peace and quiet

Small Tent - Grass PitchesMay 2023
Hideaway Camping is a perfect location for those looking to have a lovely remote holiday of peace and quiet.
The campsite is fairly remote but is a 20 minute drive away from Okehampton for any shopping/food needs, a 20 minute drive away from Dartmoor National Park if you like to hike and a 17 minute drive to a nice (but expensive) cafe next to Roadford Lake. The road to get into the campsite was a little rough, but completely doable for my small Fiat panda mk3.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The facilities are clean and easily accessible. There are 5 warm and easy-to-use showers, 3 cleaning up sinks, 4 conventional toilets and 3 compost toilets. There is a nice communal building with electrical outlets, a microwave, a fridge and lots of toys/games/books for families. The staff also put in extra effort to recycle properly, which is fantastic. They sell logs, small wood planks, marshmallows, hot chocolate packets and various fun camping items (you can pay with cash in the shop directly by placing the money in a box or by card if you ask the staff).
The campsite has a small playground, a few points of interest, a small pond and a Kunekune pig pen with 4 very active, friendly and cute pigs called Kevin, Perry, Pablo and Bilbo. Some of the pitches are nice and flat, but some have a very mild (but satisfactory) slope. All of the pitches have a nice natural "wall" of trees/bushes that provide a little privacy on 3 sides. All pitches have a firepit. The site is also high enough that you can get some fantastic sunset/sunrise views if you get the right spot.
I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely go there again.
