About the site

Switch off and unwind, surrounded by scenic Sussex countryside. The site is well located for exploring, with National Trust - Standen House and Garden a five minute walk away, along with Wakehurst, East Grinstead and Forest Row within a 15 minute drive. The site is made up of four fields of wildflower hay meadow surrounded by private woodland. The camping takes place mainly on the top fields, leaving the rest for people to explore. The Lower Fields are for quiet camping, with music allowed (until 11pm) in the Upper Field. There is space for up to 20 tent pitches and five campervan pitches. All of the pitches are unmarked (so you can pitch up with family), allowing up to eight guests per tent and five guests per campervan. If you want to leave the tent pegs at home, opt for an unfurnished 4m bell tent. Sleeping up to four, each tent has room for all of your usual camp gear , beds and bedding, or you can hire it from the site when you book. You can buy seasoned firewood, kindling firelighters and even marshmallows at the Centre Camp shop. If you wish to make a fire, there are a few to hire from the site or you can bring your own with you (just make sure not to burn the grass). Up to two friendly dogs are welcome per pitch and in the bell tents. There's good 4G coverage throughout the site, however, it is also a great spot to go off-grid and relax!

A note from the site themselves...

We very much believe in our Skandi Spirit. Finland has been named many times the happiest country in the world. Our happiness comes from many things, but if you ask us, or we believe many other Finns too, one of the biggest reasons is our ability to integrate nature connection into our lives.

In Scandinavia nature isn't just around us, it's within us and being outdoorsy isn't just a trait, it's a way of life. Appreciation for nature is deeply ingrained in Scandi lives and many natives see being outdoors as the best way to relax.

Sunnyside offers a connection with nature and of course a traditional Finnish Sauna,

Heath Katja and Annukka

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2025

Everything was perfect for my 7-yr old and myself — from location to hospitality to practicality of the space. The small shop was very convenient and the hosts were delightful. Can’t wait to come back.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2025

Hi! My girlfriend and I visited the campsite and we were so pleasantly surprised by everything - amazing hosts, the location being very nice and there is a Finnish sauna and running hot water showers! I would recommend this to anyone and I am already thinking of when to visit again. Also, the area is generally nice for walks and there is a small forest which is cute :)

Site's response

Thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed it, and really happy to introduce you to Sauna. See you later in the summer. Heath

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2025

A hidden gem - wholesome, relaxed, and perfect for kids who love freedom. Sunnyside probably wouldn't have been my first choice initially, as it doesn't have the usual facilities to keep kids entertained - but actually, it turned out to be absolutely perfect. It's wholesome, low-key, and super friendly. The atmosphere felt genuinely safe, which meant I could let my 7-year-old roam freely - and that's all he really wants! When we arrived, there was a swing (which sadly broke during our stay), and while that was a shame, a small play area would be a great addition. I didn't try the sauna this time, but friends who did said it was fantastic. The owners were incredibly friendly, and it's the kind of place I'd happily return to on my own with my son - I know we'd both enjoy it, and there would be other lovely adults around to chat to. A really special spot. I would probably not stay longer than a night or two without friends joining us as would worry the kids would get bored (although boredom is good!)

Site's response

Thanks, we are so glad you took a chance with us and tried out our style of camping. I am glad to report the swing is now fully operational. next time I really want you to try the sauna. I am very proud of it.
