About the site

Enjoy a scenic and peaceful stay at this campsite with unmissable views of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Bannau Brycheiniog) and Black Mountains. Staying here, you will be located on the historic grounds of the Glanusk Estate, one of Wales' largest privately owned estates, offering walled gardens, listed buildings and fishing on the banks of the River Usk! Even at night, the sky lights up with stars thanks to the location within the International Dark Sky Reserve. Relax on spacious 8m x 8m grass pitches, some non electric for tents, as well as electric grass pitches for motorhomes, caravans, and campervans. For a little more comfort and luxury, opt for the ensuite glamping pod, the Oak Retreat overlooking the river. It sleeps two and offers a cosy double bed (bedding and towels included), an open plan space with a dining area and a well-equipped kitchenette. Outside is a separate toilet and shower, furniture, plus a fire pit for dinner al fresco. There is also room for pitching a tent for two adults/children. Hampers with locally sourced and produced food/drink can be delivered to your pitch and pod too! There is also a selection of cottages and lodges onsite. Steeped in history, the estate is a beautiful space which began life as a retreat for Sir Joseph Bailey and family. It features a riverside stretch, ancient trees, wide meadows, and the Grade II-listed Tower Bridge. Beyond the site, you are well placed for exploring the local market town of Crickhowell, a ten minute drive away, alongside Abergavenny, with a museum and local shops, plus Hay-on-Wye, the border between England and Wales, is a 35 minute drive away too. Up to three dogs are welcome to join you for camping and touring, and one is welcome in the glamping pod. There's also a handy dog wash for cleaning muddy paws after a day of walking. Open fires and BBQs are not permitted here.

Open from 1 May to 31 October.
