Our stay at Flaxton Meadows

We found Flaxton Meadows to be a relaxing and peaceful place to stay. It was our first time on a campsite and would not hesitate to go back again. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the facilities were spotlessly clean.

Excellent site

The best showers, like being in your own bathroom - warm, spotless and even a hairdryer! The whole site is well maintained.

Cracking site

Fantastic new site. Well laid out, lovely little bar and beer garden, with dog walk route. The showers and toilets are very nice and the warmest with underfloor heating, there is no shivering showers. Wash and dryer payg and dog wash. New reception being built so may be a bit noisy for the next few months. Can't wait for my next visit.

Anniversary break

Lovely and well presented site, facilities were first class :-) A well stocked bar onsite with a very nice Black Sheep Ale on draught and lovely hosts. Large hard standing fully serviced pitches - cant fault anything (even a 32 amp EHU!) Great value for money.

It was okay

Never read that it is next door to an army base so our first night there, all we seemed to hear was the sounds of the base. Also this was advertised as adults only, which we always prefer, and there were kids up and about, so yes, the bar and toilet block are immaculate, but when I book adults only, that's what I expect.

Thank you for your review Gary. Please note the site is not next to an army base, but a firing range which is located 5 miles away. The firing stops at 7PM and does not continue through the night. In terms of children present on site, for clarity, the motorhome and caravan pitches are adults only and some of our log cabins allow family bookings. Definitely friendly staff, very quiet and clean lovely campsite.Can recommend.

Lovely site

Definitely recommend. Excellent camping facilities and extremely clean. Will return. In easy reach of York park and ride too. The touring pitch was stone, which was fine, and water on pitch. But we didn't put the awning up as we don't like awning on stone, especially pegging down into the stone, but that's a personal preference. But otherwise a lovely touring park.

Great site with amazing owner

Best choice for anyone visiting York on a budget. There also is a lovely bar on the campsite operated by the owner.

Outstanding holiday site

Extremely good site, the best we have stayed at so far. Great friendly and helpful staff, and the owner is friendly helpful and generous. Very clean, well kept and loved site. We will visit again. Thanks for a great break away.

Nice quiet site

Lovely quiet site, nice little bar and lots of space and very clean. The best toilets and showers I've been to. We will definitely be back. X

Short stay

Just had an amazing weekend away. Staff showed as to camping pitches and were really friendly. The toilets and showers were immaculately clean and the showers were really good power. We will definitely be going back it's an amazing location for York and Flamingoland and general exploring of local areas. We would definitely recommend.

So peaceful

This site was perfect for the weekend of peace and quiet we were looking for. Our host Gavin was brilliant. He looked after us so well and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. Hats off to Gavin, keep doing what you're doing! We even ended up adding an extra night due to being so comfortable here!

Great!

We only stayed one night as heading north, but would definitely stay again. Lovely and clean and a friendly host. Nice social bar area too. Definitely worth a visit.

Booking again!

Words cannot describe. All brand new, clean, friendly, nice bar, welcoming and close enough to nip out for essentials! 5 minutes off the A64 with no testing roads. Book it and try, but leave the teenagers at home, not much for them.

Flaxton Meadows Campsite

The most modern, user friendly facilities that I've ever come across within this space. The cabins are warm, quaint and peaceful. Being positioned by the water was so utterly zen. The staff were attentive but not encroaching. This place is truly a slice of paradise. Not to mention York in general, what a beautiful place, the architecture in the city center left me in awe. The Mrs was in heaven, we'd shot into York in the late morning to check out the historical buildings and the train museum and grab a bite to eat. Then we'd return to the Flaxton Meadows campsite absolutely brimming with nature, isolated from all the hustle and bustle in the town center. We had a perfect holiday and felt right at home in the cabin.

My stay

The campsite is very clean and looked after. The toilets are very clean. The staff are polite and helpful. I would stay again.

Fantastic

This place is awesome. I take my boy and his friends about 3 times a year. Family friendly, good facilities, safe.

Ideal location for visiting York with fabulous facilities

We stayed on a hard standing pitch, but be warned that underneath the top gravel layer, there must be some very large chunks of hardcore as we bent 3 rock pegs and broke a mallet when pegging out our awning! Will be lovely once the hedges are established, though I fear for some of the smaller plants getting trampled by small people. The facilities are fabulous - underfloor heating was a welcome luxury :) They could use some hooks to hang towels and washbags on by the sinks, as there's nowhere to put them at the moment. Would be good to have a dedicated playing area for children- the grass area wasn't full when we visited, but I can see that when it is, there isn't anywhere for them to play. Minor points though in an otherwise well thought out site :)

Outstanding site, amazing service and facilities

The best site we have stayed. It is an incredible place, the location is fantastic with perfectly maintained landscape and gardens. Immaculately clean with fantastic facilities available. Large pitches with large spaces between each. The service is the best available and would highly recommend this place as it is one of the best available. A truly beautiful and peaceful place. We have stayed a couple of times and cannot wait to go again soon.

Lovely little site

A lovely little site with a very high standard of cleanliness, especially the showers and toilets. Large area for car and caravan, dog friendly, and a lovely little bar area stocked with games. The owner is very friendly and there were chickens and even a peacock. Fresh eggs from the chickens can also be purchased. The only downside was the TV not working, but needed a better aerial. Will definitely return.

Lovely & friendly site

Lovely, clean, well kept site. John was a great host who made us feel very welcome.
