Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJul 2025

Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights this weekend just gone. The campsite had lovely views and had the basic amenities that you needed. The first field is quite sloped but we managed to find a more level spot a bit lower down and had plenty of room. It is in a good location- a short drive to Keswick and some lovely wild swimming spots, we completed Cat Bells, Thirlmere infinity pools and Black Moss Pot which were all fairly close. The only downside was that there were only 2 toilets and 2 showers for females and the same for males and at one point, one of the toilets were blocked which meant queuing - in the morning, when its busy, you had to queue for a fair bit for a shower as well. I didn't see an office where you could go to speak to any staff but there was a sign with a number on to call (we didn't need to).

We booked 2 nights but only stayed 1 due to the weather. Site was beautifully picturesque, showers and toilets were clean and well maintained. We will be back to enjoy this site again - hopefully with the weather on our side

I have been here a couple of times now. Convenience straight of the M6, just 1 road to the site, remote site with views of the mountains. I would recommend it.

Good campsite!

A nice campsite. Has everything you need. Quite a large campsite for only 4 showers however didn't have to wait long at all! Would definitely stay here again. Great location about 10 min drive from Keswick.

Short stay - great site

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesJun 2025

I arrived after the check-in time but there was no issue. I pitched my tent and stayed on. The facilities are "OK" - 2 toilets for men, 2 for women, and the same for showers, which is fine if you time it right. There is a bit of distant road noise, but certainly not enough to spoil the stay. The views are superb, and everybody I met was very pleasant and considerate.

Just what we needed!

Lovely campsite! Love how we could pick our own pitch and not be told where we had to go. Was pleasantly surprised with the facilities and the location was perfect for us, the views were incredible. Sheep were loud but we got used to it, haha!

Beautiful peaceful location

Perfect location for us, not too remote, but not a commercialised campsite! Beautiful views!

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2025

Really nice place with great views. Sheep can be loud but I found that more relaxing than annoying, a break from the cars bikes noise of a town. I will be booking again soon. I also liked the fact you can park your car at the side of your tent so you can leave belongings in it, rather then clutter up your tent if you are there for any length of time.

Really lovely

Stunning views. Underneath the awesome Blencathra (saddleback). A little road noise from the A66 but nothing bad. Nice barn hut to shower and wash up. Electric sockets to charge stuff you shouldn't have with you in this picturesque location. You can hire or buy a fire pit. Great place to camp. Will definitely return.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesApr 2025

Cheap and cheerful campsite in a great location, close enough to walk into Keswick and a close drive to Buttermere for a day out. Toilet, shower and washing up facilities all on site and all very clean.

An okay campsite

Arrived on the 18th, didn't see anyone who ran the site and wasn't sure they even knew we arrived and had paid, no one approached us,. Land was full of sheep mess which I expect is normal for that area however, it was everywhere, hard to pitch the tent had to flick the mess away so we didn't stand in it. Facilities are okay, nothing amazing, 2 toilets 2 showers which is not really enough for everyone there. Would have been better to have some toilets down the bottom side, and showers, as it's a far walk if you are camped down the bottom. Nice pubs in the area. Left a day early.

Basic but great

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesApr 2025

We visited this campsite on Easter weekend, and our first weekend camping. It was busy but relatively quiet - we slept amazingly! It's a very basic site, but absolutely fantastic. There's a river running alongside the bottom of the fields, the views of Blencathra and surrounding mountains are amazing and the barn where the toilets are kept is basic, but clean. The location is fab - if you walk down the river path, heading right, you will come to Keswick golf club and the village of Threlkeld where there are 2 lovely pubs which serve food. Takes around 20 mins and is beautiful! There is also a bus which you can get from Threlkeld which takes you into Keswick. The managers of the site were very accommodating and I'd definitely return!

Great site

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesApr 2025

Had a great stay over the long weekend! Easy site to hike from and a short drive to Keswick. Though there was only a few toilets/shower, we never had to wait and the facilities were kept really clean. Bit of a slant as the other reviews say, but it was easy to find a nice flat spot. Would recommend!

So glad we found this campsite, it was really chill and you could pitch wherever you wanted. Lovely views and only a 10 minute walk from a great pub (White Horse Inn - make sure you book a table. The facilities are exactly what you need - couple of showers and a couple of toilets, plus place for washing up (with soap and sponges included).

Great view

Alright campsite. Great views and good location. However, quite an incline on the site.

Lovely site for basic camping

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

Great spot of you want to venture round the north Lakes and like the more rural type of campsite. Basic facilities were clean with piping hot water for showers and dish washing. Will be returning. 4 miles east of Keswick and at the foot of Blencathra - fabulous.

Cheap and cheerful but weather dependent

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

Great location, only 10 mins drive from Keswick and 5 mins drive to Threlkeld for a walk to Blencathra, but there's no facilities on site and there's nothing really walkable for essentials like milk and bread. There's loads of space to pitch with options of 3 fields, although most of it is on some degree of slope but quite little mud. On arrival, we texted a mobile number as instructed but had no response and didn't see anyone in charge the whole time we were there, which is fine. Probably would have preferred a little message saying welcome, but no issues. Toilets and showers were good, kept in decent condition and are pretty well set up. There's 2 large sinks and 2 small sinks with toilet rolls and washing up liquid supplied. The fields can get muddy and the bottom field can turn into a swamp as we found out on the last day. So be mindful where you drive as you can easily get stuck on the grass. We had to leave a day before the end due to bad weather breaking our tent, so be aware that you're quite exposed in this campsite.

Amazing Campsite!

Great location, just off the A-road from Keswick. Lots nearby, nothing to fault! :)

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

Lovely, picturesque location with supporting facilities. Staff were friendly. Very hard to find level ground for a pitch. 2 nights ruined by loud groups blasting music into the early hours (1-2am). Multiple people asked to quiet them down from 10:30pm including supposed staff, but to no avail. Shame, as I imagine it would've been wonderfully peaceful otherwise.

Amazing

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

I found the location of the campsite a great place to spend my time, beautiful views everywhere any time. It was cheap and even though I did not pay for electrical hookups, still there was a socket in the space before the showers and toilets which I could have used for something if needed. Place to hang the washing was also available by tying rope to shelves inside this space. The showers were warm and there was places to hang things so they are not on the floor, though there are no shelves and the wood around is unprotected from mould which is very visible in some areas. When calling the lady who is in charge of the campsite she was very friendly and we had no problems all our stay there. Overall a good experience thank you very much :)
