Facilities and amenities

Each glamping option is totally off-grid and includes its own private facilities, with a 'Scrub Shack' shower facility, an al fresco kitchen area with a sink, twin hob gas cooker and cool box, outside there is a Yorkshire grill and fire pit.

The Owl pods and the Woodpecker cabins have private hot tubs. All glamping is off grid, this means no WiFi or electricity, torches and phone charging are available.

Each field also has a large communal fire pit and a communal BBQ hut, seating ten people for eating and socialising on rainy days. In May, the grub shack opens selling pizza in the evening and crepes in the morning. There is also a communal room for reading and games to hide away from any wet weather.

In the next-door village, Sherburn, just a five minute drive from the site, there are two village shops for picking up the essentials. For meals out The Dawnay Arms in West Heslerton is just a 30 minute walk down the road. To go further afield there is public transport and for fisherman there is a top fishing lake, a ten minute walk away available all year round for a small daily charge.

Pod - Pheasant PodsSep 2022

We enjoyed a lovely weekend stay at Lahtlewood. The pod was very comfortable and has all of the amenities you need. It took about 20 mins to have a hot shower after heating the boiler up with the wood burner. There is a lot of space between each pod and plenty of space for the kids to play. The pods and facilities were very clean and the pod is very warm and cosy with comfortable beds. It's pretty on an evening when the twinkling lights come on at night time, hung around the trees. There is a communal pod where you can congregate if it's bad weather, with a log burner in the middle. Although we had good weather, the kids used it to toast marshmallows. It is about 1.2miles to walk to the local pub, with a footpath all the way, which we would recommend if you want a night off from outdoor/cooking. Walking distance to a petrol station and supermarket in the other direction, approx 10mins drive. As it's near the main road, you have easy access to a lot of attractions of North Yorkshire. Some of the nightly bits, you could hear traffic from the main road, not too bad but not quite the country sound. Some of the kids play equipment was broken.

Site's response

Thank you Melissa for your fabulous feedback which is much appreciated. Sarah
