About the site

A family friendly tent campsite where the vibe is simple and back to nature on this working farm. Being by the border, there's lots to see in both Lancashire and Yorkshire. Pitches are grassed, without electric to suit tents and trailer tents with a maximum of six people per pitch. You can light up a fire in the fire pit or get the BBQ going from your pitch. Walkers are drawn to the Pendle Way (a five minute drive) but there are also local beauty spots such as Pendle Hill and Gisburn Forest to tackle, with a set of walking and cycling routes. A maximum of four dogs are allowed per pitch for an additional cost, just please keep them on the lead.

A note from the site themselves...

Shay Gate Farm Campsite is a family ran campsite on the Lancashire-Yorkshire border. The farm has been in our family for two generations, meaning we have all been extremely lucky to grow up around a wide range of Wildlife and Livestock, as well as in a beautiful setting!

We opened the campsite in 2020 to allow others the opportunity to experience those same things. We try our best to improve the site every year whilst trying to keep it as close to nature as possible for you all to enjoy!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

We stayed for 3 nights with friends and had a great time. The weather was pretty grim and so we couldn't get up to much, but there was plenty of room for the kids to play around. It was quite busy one of the nights with noise being a bit more than we'd expected, but not sure that much could have been done about that. The facilities were cleaned throughout the day, which was great. The showers were hot although a bit draughty! (Some quite large gaps around the doors of the cubicles!) We were able to hire a fire pit, they drove about the site on a buggy in the evening so if you needed any more logs they deliver them right to your tent. It would be brilliant if the loos actually showed 'occupied' or similar when they're locked to avoid having to try doors or have someone trying the door whilst you're using the cubical. It was a great weekend overall and we could go back.
