About the site
Formerly a pub, the Hare and Hounds is set in idyllic countryside situated just two miles outside historic Rye. It features two fields, totalling around 2.5 acres - so there is plenty of room. The pluses here are a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with clean facilities and the opportunity to sit by a campfire! Pitches are suitable for tents, campervans and motorhomes (up to 6m), with 12 electric hook-ups for guests. Fire braziers are available to hire if you need them. If you're going glam, book a furnished bell tent with all those car-boot-filling bits and bobs provided. These come furnished with futons to sleep four, seating, lantern lighting, and cooking equipment, with a gas cooker included. Outside is your BBQ and picnic bench. For couples, the shepherd's hut is perfect, and it includes ensuite facilities, a double bed and a cosy wood burner. Sorry, the site cannot accommodate groups of more than two families/ pitches together. Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on their leads during your stay.

Lovely little site perfectly situated for visit to Rye and surrounding areas. Host very welcoming and friendly. Facilities very clean. Also excellent pub 10 minutes walk The Horse and Cart. Will definitely return

We stayed for just two nights but really look forward to visiting again. There is a little bell to ring as you arrive and you’ll be met with a smile and personally taken to your pitch, all pitches incidentally are large so you really can spread out a little. The site was very clean and peaceful and washing up area best we have seen so far, 3 sinks/draining all covered with hot water and a few supplies for emergencies & cleaning your area after use, dog parking hook 😀, phone charging lockers (you will need your own plug & charging lead), DEFIBRILLATOR. For those a little camp site/public place shy two of the toilets are located more discreetly not right next to someone else showering in a large block) as are two of the showers. All facilities constantly checked and cleaned. This was a special little trip for us as first time camping with our daughter & son in-law since the arrival of our precious grandson so The Hare & Hounds will be somewhere we will definitely return to and it will hold special memories.
