At the heart of 1066 country, made famous by England's defeat in a battle against the French, lies the town of Hastings. In more modern terms, you'll find it on England's sunny south coast in East Sussex, dominated by stoney cliffs and a cheery harbour. Today, it's a gorgeous seaside town, but with echoes of a fascinating era in the country's history.Â
For those who love to dig deeper, the town is well known for the Battle of Hastings during the Norman conquest of England and today visitors can explore the remains of Hastings Castle.
