Moss Side Farm Campsite sits in the beautiful southern fells of the Lake District National Park. Quietly nestled in scenic Woodland Valley, close to Coniston. Views here are second to none. This small, family-run campsite is a traditional Lakeland Hill farm with sheep, cows, horses, ducks, pigs and hens onsite. There are many beautiful footpaths leading to and from the site, as well as space to relax and explore.

There are a few pitch sites at Moss Side Farm and we chose to set up camp at the top of the hill. There were a few other couples up with us but there was enough space for us all to have a private area of sorts and keep ourselves to ourselves. Due to injuries we weren't up to much hiking, so just stayed local, but the spot was idyllic, and the view from our tent pitch spectacular. The perfect weekend getaway. We were lucky enough to have a clear night on the Saturday so stargazing with a campfire (using wood and firelighters purchased from the farm) was a true highlight. Being on top of the hill meant the facilities (water tap, showers) were a little further away, but that's the choice you make for a more secluded spot. There was a portaloo at least! The car struggled to get up the hill a bit as the dirt track up it is a bit rough and worn away in places but we managed. There's a knack to it I'm sure! Louise the owner was lovely, very accommodating. We were late on the Friday, past check-in o'clock, and it was no problem. She was nearly one dog down when we were leaving as one of the little farm dogs came for some cuddles (perhaps hoping to score a sausage or two from our breakfast) - gorgeous little thing! We really enjoyed our stay at Moss Side Farm and would definitely come stay again. Just what we needed.

It was beautiful. The campsite was extremely clean and quiet. We unfortunately had a car breakdown and they allowed us to use their personal lift and tools to fix our car! Highly recommend Moss Side Farm.

We stayed in one of the rail cabins and it was lovely and spacious. The wood burner is a nice touch, but not practical for heating over night, as you'd need to put logs on every couple of hours, so bring warm blankets! Lots of friendly animals roaming the grounds and very friendly staff!

Lovely site for a weekend of rustic camping. Lovely to see the animals having free reign around the site. Beautiful location. Calm and tranquil. Some lovely touches around the site and Louise, the owner, was very friendly. Great walk to the village, which is full of friendly people. A fantastic choice of pubs.

Was a last minute booking getaway for us. Super pleased we managed to get booked in. Lovely location, fantastic welcome, beautiful views across the valley. Great that you could have a campfire, spaced out "free camping" within reason. Lots more accommodation options than we realised, but we were really pleased with our campervan pitch. The only slight negative was showers/toilets - both were perfectly ok, totally clean, working and really cannot complain but only two cubicles in guys so when busy in morning it was a bit of a wait. The showers were again ok, warm and clean but lacking pressure, more of a "good dribble" than a shower... but I'm being picky here. Overall, a great campsite, lovely welcome by owner and told us how to get into village where few pubs and coffee shops were. All good.

If you like a small, peaceful, no-frills campsite, then buy a groundsheet protector, some rock tent pegs (with hammer) and book to stay here. Remember this is a working farm, so there might not be someone waiting to greet you. Just call the number and you will be met swiftly by one of the friendly helpful staff, and maybe a duck, goose and a puppy. Go with the flow here, the mood is very laid back, which creates a lovely peaceful ambience. The showers are warm, clean and free, but could possibly benefit from a little more water pressure, if I am being overly picky. There is no EHU, but there is a shared freezer, so bring extra ice blocks to keep your cool-box chilled. The owners ask you to separate your recycling, which appeared to be really popular with all guests when we were there. There is a 30-40 min easy walk down into the village where there are 3 pubs, butcher, baker and general store. There is also a petrol station. The walk back includes a short steep road just before the campsite, but you will see this when you leave the campsite. The main part of the walk is along a disused railway line, which has a couple of lovely spots to stop at. The main camping ground is pretty rocky under the grass, so I recommend a groundsheet protector and rock pegs are a must. But you will be rewarded with a beautiful view. You may be joined from time to time by the friendly farm dogs, geese, chickens or sheep.... none of these will cause you any concern. Just remember to keep your pitch clean and tidy and don't leave rubbish bags lying around (I don't just mean Gola bags). When you arrive to check-in, look out for the "guard ducks". They are not aggressive, but they like their spot by the gate so just drive slowly. What a cracking little site with super friendly staff.

My wife and myself had a fantastic time staying at Moss farm. It is a beautiful place to stay and the railway cabins are very comfortable and a great way to glamp. Louise was very happy and helpful. Great calm atmosphere.

What a beautiful campsite, with rolling hill views and great pubs in walking distance. A lovely lady welcomed us, we parked our van in the dark and woke up to a stunning view in the morning. We had a lovely walk to Broughton in Furness that has a couple of great pubs just half an hour walk away so we did that twice for lunch and with friends later on in the night. Great location for a rural camp with a lovely vibe on a working farm. Hot showers and friendly dogs, what more could you ask for?!

Excellent location, facilities were good, although we only stayed a night there was an option of having a shower. Quiet site allowing camp fires which was great on a November night. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. Only issue was that my friend stood in some dog waste near to where we parked.

We loved staying in the beautiful yurt at Moss Side Farm Campsite, in amongst the forest, where we could hear deer rutting and owls hooting. Plenty of space and great outdoor camp kitchen. We loved the wood burning stove and had plenty of wood to keep us warm through the night. Short walk to the local town and pubs and cafes, and to the start of some beautiful walks. The sauna was a great end to a long day of walking. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Moss Side is basic but has all the amenities required to have a proper camping holiday away from the pressures of daily life. The pitches are well spread apart and the location is terrific. We chose to camp up high and were rewarded with spectacular cloud inversions both mornings and the setting sun when eating our tea. The facilities were clean and well organised and hosts were welcoming and kind. All in all such a treat to find a campsite so unspoilt it has remained a quiet gem of solitude.

We had a fabulous and magical stay here, perfectly located on the edge of the Lake District for walking and paddle boarding, with all of the area's charm and character. This is not a luxury site, the facilities are adequate and basic. However, the view is priceless.

We absolutely loved our 4 night stay at Moss Side. We got very lucky with the weather and enjoyed sunshine for some beautiful local walks. We slept very well at this quiet campsite with great views, and loved getting to see owls sitting in the tree next to our camper on our final night.
