About Moss Side Farm Campsite

This is a quiet site, suitable for older families (children aged 15 and over) and couples. Come and soak up the peace and quiet, and relax in the wonderful surroundings of the Woodland Valley. The historic village of Broughton in Furness is just a five minute drive or a 35 minute stroll down the footpath, with cafes, pubs and more. There is plenty of space to explore, hills, woodlands and streams all here on the site. Pitch up on grass to enjoy incredible views and you'll also find a small selection of hardstanding areas. For glampers, there are cosy rail cabins to try, which sleep four and include a wood burner, double bed and a set of bunks, larger groups of six can rent the entire rustic bunk house for an adventure in the Lakes, with comfy adult size bunkbeds, couch, wood burning stove, kettle, toaster and microwave. The site is fairly near the coast, the lovely beaches of Haverigg and Silecroft being a 20 minute drive away. The nearest lake, Coniston, is a 15 minute drive. Moss Side is a great base for walkers who want to ramble on the lower footpaths and for the more adventurous who want a little more of a challenge of the higher peaks like Coniston Old Man, Blackcombe or Scar Fell! Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead whilst on the farm.

Moss Side Farm Campsite is open all year round.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include toilets and hot, free and clean showers. There is a fridge-freezer, washing up room and communal power points that guests can use. Wood, firelighters, kindling, BBQs and fresh produce such as eggs are all sold on site.

The village of Broughton-in-Furness is only a 30 minute walk (accessed from site via a footpath) or so away, with pubs, cafes, a bakery, shops, an off licence etc. The local pubs do great food at reasonable prices, such as the Black Cock Inn, the Old Kings Head pub and the Blacksmiths Arms in nearby Broughton Mills.

A note from the site themselves...

We are proud to be a working farm breeding our own sheep and cattle. Our animals are well looked after and have a great life here in the valley having acres of meadow and fell on which to wander and graze in their respective herds and flocks following where their ancestors grazed and have done for generations.

We also have ducks and hens who wander around freely along with our very friendly goats. The horses and ponies are stabled adjacent to the campsite mostly during the winter months then they are let out to graze in the adjoining fields in the spring and summer.

Our friendly dogs might come to say hello every once in a while so be sure to keep your tasty food out of their reach or it could be gone!

We wish you a lovely stay, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, we are always around, Louise

Brilliant campsite as part of a farm. Nice to be able to walk to the local village off road the whole way and a quick drive to Coniston. Clean toilets and showers with hot water. Lovely host who was very helpful.
