Medium Tent - Non Electric Tent PitchesAug 2025

I rarely write a review but this one deserves one! We arrived at the campsite and the lady on reception knew my name, which we were pleasantly surprised with, and assumed it was due to the car reg or we were the last ones in as we arrived close to reception closing. Check in was quick but acceptable and we were shown where the camping field was. We drove to the field and there wasn't a single other tent there which explains why reception knew my name! We drove down to the end of the field looking for pitch markings, wondering if there was a different section where all the campers were, but all we found was a pile of rubbish and furniture hidden behind some trees! We wondered what kind of campsite in Cornwall is completely empty mid august! I went to use the facilities before we pitched the tent, and they were not cleaned in the slightest! Toothpaste splatter on the mirror and taps, bin full, fake nail on the sink, hair all over the shower walls, cobwebs and dirt everywhere! We sat in the car for 45 mins considering if we would just up and leave and find another campsite! We decided to give it a night or two and pitched up. The bathrooms weren't cleaned until day 3 and although better, still not cleaned to an acceptable standard. Drinking water points were marked on the map but when you went to get some, there were no drinking water signs at all, just a tap on an external wall of the launderette behind some gas bottles, and a random pipe coming out of the ground on the car park! I had to ask the lovely pub onsite to fill up our drinking water container as I didn't trust any of the taps in the campsite. The launderette and dishwashing facilities were disgusting, open bin full of leftover food, flies all around, the sink felt dirty and had an unpleasant smell to say the least. We only saw staff on the morning of day 2 and wasn't the most heart warming, no attempt at pleasantries, didn't even reply to my greetings. The holiday park website was down before we came and I thought they just had a problem with it, but we were told that the holiday park homes are actually turned into long term residents now and the residents share the campsite as an extension of their garden. We actually stayed the full 5 nights in the end but had to lower our expectations and didn't touch anything! By the end of the 5 nights, there were 2 other tents on the field. Definitely wouldn't recommend as there are much nicer and cleaner sites around with actual atmosphere! We certainly won't be back and I wish I had read reviews before booking!

Site's response

The reason we knew your name, was because we have an arrivals list, which provides us with your name and all relevant information. We are sorry that you drove into the storage site, you must have not read the camping sign on the grass area. We were not made aware at any time during your stay, you did not come to us and explain that you had an issue with the facilities, there were other people using the facilities on-site and we have received no complaints. As you have said, you found the water tap, which was marked clearly on the map, so there is no need for additional signage, as you found it. There is a water tap outside and also there are hot & cold taps inside the laundrette, which you have said you were stood by. You have mentioned no pleasantries from staff, which we are not aware of, as we would have made every effort, as we did upon your arrival. But, if this is the case, you did not use this time to bring to us any of your issues. We are a holiday park and a residential park all in one, this isn't something new. The touring and camping are separate from the residential and we have had no issue to date. There are currently domain issues with the website, which is just a coincidence that this happened while you were staying with us, unfortunately this is something we are trying to rectify still to date.

Great stay

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Touring PitchesFeb 2025

I just wanted to leave a quick review about our stay at the caravan site. The site was clean, with spacious areas and beautiful views. The staff at reception were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, meeting all our needs. The surrounding areas were stunning and the on-site pub was fantastic. The showers were warm, clean, and conveniently located. I highly recommend this site and will definitely return.

Site's response

Thank you for your lovely message and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to you coming back to stay with us in the future.

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Touring PitchesFeb 2025

The site was a bit run down but maybe that was due to the time of the year. The shower and toilet facilities were dated and there was no running hot water

Site's response

I'm really sorry that you thought the campsite was a bit run down. In general at this time of year, the weather is not to great. We do have groundsmen going round the campsite each day doing the gardening and general groundkeepers' work. As far as we are aware, the hot water was working in the shower facilities. We have had no words from other guests that were staying regarding the hot water problem but if it had been reported to the main office on site, we would have sorted out the problem straight away. Thank you for your review and have taken in to consideration what you have said.
